Twin Peaks

The best way I can describe Twin Peaks is that it's like Hooters, but with more personality.

We had a large table on our waitress was on the ball and kept our beers full and the food coming.  My burger was excellent.  I was drunk when I left (not driving, fortunately.)  No complaints,I'd come back again.

Very cool spot on the same block as the Adolphus, which made it an easy walk to get a beer and a sandwich.  The shrimp po boy was pretty tasty as were the stuffed jalapenos.  Excellent selection of very local microbrews that was a little different every time we went in.

Relaxed, casual but attentive service and live music on most nights.  Very fun place. If I lived in Dallas I'd be a regular.

Yes, it's expensive.

But it's open 24 hours and has a good selection of food to choose from.  Their food bar (hot and cold) is also good, if a bit pricey.

I was a regular here during my three weeks in Dallas, it had good, reliable food and some excellent local beers (Ziegen Bock in particular) on tap.

It's a hotel bar, so it's not cheap.  But I was on a per diem so I didn't mind all that much.  The ribeye was excellent as was their homemade chili.  I recommend both if you find yourself at the bar one night.

We visited this space for the CraftBoston arts fair and were thrilled that a vendor who we'd spotted last year but could not afford was back.  We were flush, we bought, we are thrilled with our purchase.

Cyclorama is a nice airy, well lit exhibit space that had plenty of room for everyone to display their wares.  We enjoyed the more intimate atmosphere (the previous year's fair was at the World Trade Center) and hope it continues here.

Adolphus Hotel

I stayed at the Adolphus during a training session for a new job.  Very nice place that dates back to the earliest 20th century.  Lots of dark wood and wrought iron.  Also supposed to be haunted, though I didn't see or hear any ghosts.

Overall I have no complaints.  Housekeeping did a good job keeping things clean and the complementary breakfast was good with a lot of variety.  It's also close to the 6th Floor Museum, which is pretty much a mandatory stop for any Bostonian.

The Rodeo Bar and Grill was also surprisingly good for a hotel bar.  Friendly bartenders and pretty decent food along with a nice mix of beers.

Lastly, the free WiFi was easy to connect to and extremely reliable.  All told I was very pleased.

We really enjoyed the Brooklyn Flea, though it was a bit smaller than we'd pictured it in our mine.  Lack of size does not mean lack of STUFF, however.

The one thing my girlfriend really lusted after was unfortunately not something we could buy.  It was one of the old token collectors from a city bus.  Carrying 50 lbs of steel on the subway was not something we figured we could pull off.  So we settled for some cool old handles off a water hose connection that we are going to make into a coatrack.

The donut vender was also very tasty.  Glazed with chocolate frosting and chocolate nibs for the win.  Trust me on this!

Conley's is a great neighborhood pub.  Our food has always come promptly and properly cooked. I've noticed you can't always count on that when it comes to burgers in this town.  Conley's doesn't make that mistake.

The staff has always treated us well and kept our beers filled.  I haven't yet tried the prime rib but I think that's going to be corrected on our next visit.
