Good nail salon with reasonably priced pedicures, but -- my debit card has been mischarged on numerous occasions - too many times for me to feel comfortable with it just being an accident or one time mistake. Pay cash or go to one of the numerous other nail salons in the area!

Iceberg Drive In

OK - It's not really fair that this place only has 1 (unfiltered) review and it's 1 star.   It's not fine dining but honestly - there's really nothing wrong with this place if you're looking for fast(er) food!

The food has always been good.  Always made fresh to order (no patty warming trays here) and the portions good.  The zucchini sticks in the summer are excellent -- mmmm, deep fried vegetables.  Just the way I like them!

The cones and shakes are HUGE. They have 2 sizes and in both instances the shake "wall" goes 2-3 inches above the top of the cup.  I love that you can get any combo of flavor / mix in that you want.  My poison is a chocolate caramel malt with cashews.  I usually have to keep it in the freezer and am eating this thing for days!  TIP: you can ask for the ice cream cones in a cup, and they'll turn them upside down for you and give you a spoon.  The only way I'll allow my 2 year old to have one!

And can I just say PEBBLE ICE?!  When I'm pregnant I crave this stuff by the pound, and at Iceburg I can buy it just like that (in big bags) and it keeps me satisfied for the .... day ... or so.  Love it.

Iceburg is a part of my Utah childhood and I love that there's a location out in this part of the valley that I can now bring my kids to!  I grew up going to the location on 7th east in Murray with my grandparents!

Caffé Molise

I loved this place.  I love Italian food & hadn't found a good spot in SLC just yet - I think I found my place with Caffe Molise.

They were absolutely swamped the night we went - there was a big convention in town - but our waitress was patient & friendly & didn't make us feel rushed.

The food was delicious - fresh, clean, but hearty & fill you up.  I had a butternut squash ravioli dish - it was amazing.

I'll definitely be back.  The patio was booked the night we went but I can't wait to spend a warm summer night out there with a great meal sometime soon.

Spring Mobile Ballpark

If you're looking for a fun and low-key thing to do on a warm summer night, don't forget about baseball!

Even though it's AAA, the Bees are one of the best teams in the league, and are fun to watch.  They are the minor league team for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim so you can watch some future big-leaguers, too.

The ballpark is totally laid back, the ushers are all friendly, and the view of the city & the mountains from the park is amazing.  The food is a tiny bit better then other ball park food I've eaten, but is still nothing fantastic.  I'd suggest grabbing dinner in the city and then heading over to the park for a few beers and maybe some ice cream.  If you have to eat at the stadium - the Chicago Dogs from the cart (not the actual stadium vendors) are pretty good.

Take a blanket and lay out in the outfield for a fun date night - just watch out for home run balls!

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

I love this place.  These serve-yourself fro-yo shops are a dime a dozen now, but Menchies is my fav.  Want to know why?  They have the cutest little smiley-guy spoons!  Seriously, I come back to this place because I collect the spoons they hand out.  I won't lie - they're great, solid spoons, and they have a adorable little cartoon-y yogurt man on the end of them.

The yogurt is delish, the toppings are typical, but go for the spoon.  They make great cereal spoons, too. :]

Update - 6/12/2011
ETA: we've been back here a few times since this review.  Still a solid 3 stars because it's hit and miss.  Last night we had a great waitress & great onion rings, but the nachos were kind of soggy.  Come on, Rumrz, get both the food & the service consistent so I can bump you up a star or two!

Oh, Rumrz ... you could be so great, but you're just, not.

Food is OK.  Nothing spectacular but we've also not had anything inedible or downright bad.  Last time I had the teriyaki bacon swiss burger and it was good.  When I finished eating it it dawned on me that there wasn't any bacon on it, though.  Oops.

I like their garlic fries and their Parmesan oregano fries a lot.  The only fries we've ever had here have always been piping hot and crispy and seasoned well.  Maybe we were just lucky to get a fresh batch?

Beer on tap and big cups of diet Coke keep us happy on the drink front.

The service can be hit or miss, the waitresses seem to know a lot of the patrons every time we're in there so a lot of the time they're socializing in between serving and that can make it a little slow at times.  But they're friendly and quick to get you something when you ask.

It's seat-yourself, so don't be the doofus standing at the door looking for a wait list or hostess.  (Although, they could put up a sign or something letting you know this fact so there's less doofus-standing).

We'll probably be back, just because it's close to our house, and there's a frustrating lack of restaurants out on the south west side of the valley.

Sonny Bryan's

I am so pleasantly surprised by this place!  I'm a huge fan of BBQ and while yes, this is a "chain" (although the only location in Utah thus far), their "chain-ness" just means that they've streamlined their processes but not fallen down the "ew-its-an-icky-chain-hole" yet.  Still with me?

I got a pulled pork sandwich with fries and potato salad, all which were great.  Good sized sandwich.  I was a fan of the house BBQ sauce.  My husband had a 3 meat plate - he loved the jalapeno sausage, chopped brisket & ham.  They were out of the okra when we went (2nd day open) which was a bummer.

They didn't show kids meals on their menu screens, so I ordered my 2 little guys another pulled pork sandwich meal to split.  The cashier then told me that they did have kids meals (chicken nuggets & mini corn dogs) but my guys will eat the good stuff over microwaved corn dogs any day - and they devoured the 1/2 sandwich each & their sides of mac & cheese and bbq baked beans.

I was surprised when I sampled the beans because they were a little spicy - my almost 2 year old was packing them away like he was starved.  Two chubby little thumbs up from him!

The manager & runners were super nice & friendly - hope this is a constant thing and not just because it was opening weekend.  The rolls were delicious & it was nice that they kept handing them out to the people seated as well as waiting in line.

Final note: we'll be back.  This is a place I could add to our regular eating-out rotation, even though we try to stay away from chains. ;]

This is the only movie theater I like to visit.  It's clean - near my house - has good popcorn - has preferred seating - is close by a Maverick for buying the smuggled-in treats.  And $1.00 large drinks in my refillable mug? Yes please.  Love the District megaplex.

Fin & Norah's - CLOSED

So so happy to have Fin & Norah's in the South Valley.  We are always trying to support the local places (especially local places that  source and support more local growers and vendors!) and were excited to see them open up.

Have eaten here twice so far - everything's been excellent.  The handmade potato chips they give you are great.  I've had the BBQ burger (love the Stoneground bun!) and the pulled pork sandwich.  Both were excellent.  Husband has had the Reuben sandwich and a pizza (jalapenos and chorizo I think?).  Good beers on tap.  A giant menu.  I hope that the construction outside means they're building an outdoor seating area!

A real standout for me are the kids meals.  HUGE portions.  And great, healthy food.  No Kraft mac and cheese here.  My 4 year old always gets carrot sticks as his side and yesterday was served about 50 sticks .... he was in heaven.  They of course love the free scoop of ice cream that comes with the meals, too.

The service as well has been outstanding.  Both of our waiters were knowledgeable, attentive and kind.  Yesterday our guy volunteered to track down some saltines for my getting-grumpy almost-2-year-old.

Love this place.  Love that they're in the community, are affordable, serve good American food.  And love that they're on Twitter and thanked me for my tweet praising them! ;]

Will be back.  Please visit this place so it doesn't leave the area like other great local places have!  (Still mourning MacCools!)

Eggs in the City

We hit this place Saturday around 1pm, and I was surprised that there wasn't a wait.  It was full, but luckily there was 1 table available when we arrived.

The waiter was very friendly and helpful and even said they could special make a Mickey Mouse pancake for my younger son, even though I had just ordered him a regular pancake off their sides menu.  That was such a nice touch.

Hubby had an omelette and said it was good.  I ordered the eggs florentine and while there was nothing wrong with it, it wasn't anything spectacular.  It came out a LOT (like 15 minutes) later then the rest of the food we had ordered and so the waiter kindly took it off the bill for us (we didn't ask - he insisted).  I don't know if it had been sitting there for that long or what, but it was a bit soggy and lukewarm.  I like a tangy-ier hollandaise sauce too and this was pretty bland.  I want to taste the lemon - dang it!

Three stars for the food but the service bumped them up to a four star place in my book.  We'll be back, though!
