Another great Yelp find! I can't believe I've lived in Central Florida and never heard of this place. Apparently lots of my friends had, everyone commented on how much they loved the place when I posted pictures! THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL!!! I guess I've never really had German food, probably because I never knew where to get good German food- but this place is it. The have an assortment of Schnitzel, among other things. For the schnitzel you choose between veal, pork or chicken. Then you can choose a topping or go plain. I ordered mine with mushrooms and a brown sauce called, Rahm. It was wonderful, as were my sides of potato pancake and fresh, crisp, steamed veggies. Desserts were great too, I tried the Strawberry Bavarian which was light and not overly rich like some cakes can be.
And then there is the German beer on tap and the ridiculously large glasses you can get it in. They actually have a 1 Liter size for $10. That's a lot of beer; I opted for the more reasonable .5L size. The entertainment starts up at 7pm (check the website for a schedule). When we called about reservations they said they were booked for 4 weeks on weekends. At 5:30pm on a Friday we still managed to find a table, but by 7pm the place was full. When we were there the party was just getting started but I'm sure as the evening (and the beer) flows things get rowdier. We had our son with us (there were plenty of families with kids- in fact my 20 month old toddler was dancing with a 24 month old- see the picture, it was too cute!) so we didn't stay for the craziness. We do plan on getting a group together, making the reservation and coming back for an adult trip!
It started with an obnoxious host who thought he was being funny and invited himself into our table. Ehh, no big deal but the food this visit was lousy! We ordered the rangoon app which looked and tasted more like southwest eggrolls. For an entree I tried the blue cheese pasta which, believe it or not, was fairly tasteless and watered down. The pasta was floating in the liquid and the chicken looked previously frozen then boiled. Yuck. Our group split the fried berry dessert which was decent. Service was just OK, if she had inquired about our meals I may have sent mine back but she didn't. Next time we are going to eat at City Walk it won't be at NBA City.

Overlooking the softball fields from atop a hill is a nice shaded playground, picnic pavilions and swings for kids. There are concessions and restrooms. Although the restroom aren't the best at least they are real working bathrooms! The park was well maintained and clean and this Saturday we went, quite busy. There is ample parking nearby and a fitness trail leading from the entrance into the park.
Overall a great find and so close to Altamonte and I-4! I've driven around the area many times and never knew this quiet park was tucked away amongst the trees!
My chicken sandwich had a decent flavor but was dry and a bit overcooked. It came with BBQ sauce which was good and helped the sandwich out tremendously. The plantains were good, plump and juicy without being greasy.
The food was OK, but I thought it was a bit pricey. My sandwich was $6.99 and the side of plantains was an additional $3. There were only 5 plantains! Although I did take my food to go, the service I got while there was just pleasant enough but they definitely didn't go out of their way to be friendly. I did notice that they serve beer and have live music occasionally. Maybe it is livelier then? I was the only one there and expected an independent restaurant like that to be a bit more hospitable. Oh, well, I've tried them and probably won't be back.

I ordered sweet and sour shrimp with a side of crab rangoons. When I arrived to pick up my order I was really surprised, the place is really cute! Small but elegant with carved chairs, clean tables, a full bar with plasmas and some authentic decor including a faux tile roof jutting out of one wall.
The food was wonderful too! My shrimp were nice and crispy and huge! My meal came with white or brown rice (awesome) and an assortment of onions and peppers. The rangoon were light and crispy and actually tasted like there was crab in there, not just cream cheese. I was so glad to learn they deliver within two miles. I can see this being a regular dining option from now on!
We shared a potsticker app which was good, better then my chicken! The app gave me hope that there are better dishes available. I would go back again and give this place another try, maybe some of the sushi next time!
Here is some info I found online about the splash park:
Open May 23 ~ September 7, 2009 Free Admission. 12 noon ~ 8 p.m. daily.
The only free splash pad in Genesee Count, it is a zero-depth and barrier free surface. The new Splash Pad Spray Ground shoots water in a timed sequence from the ground and from various play structures on the Splash Pad.
Just down a slopping grassy hill is a sand beach and clear water. On our visit it was pretty chilly but during the summer I guess you can swim here:
Open May 23 ~ September 7, 2009 Free Admission. 8 a.m. ~ 8 p.m. daily.
There were pavilions to rent and lots of benches and real bathrooms (not port-o-lets). There appeared to be a concession stand but this was also closed on our visit. Considering all these amenities are free you'd be crazy not to take advantage of them, especially in the summer!
Getting out of the facility and onto the interstate was a breeze too. Dropping the car back off took maybe 3 minutes and the bus was waiting to take us right back to the airport. The bus driver even helped with our baggage and the bus, and our rented car, were both clean.

There are plenty of food options, drinks and bars. I love the wide open feel of the place. The park was clean and had a newness to it. The seats themselves are a little tight, but that's to be expected. When the guy in the row in front of us leaned back and put his arm over the seat he accidentally stuck his fingers in my beer! Gross! The drinks holders are nice but beware of some strange person dipping their fingers in there!

Remember, we had talked this place up and brought people who had never been before. It got to the point where conversation lagged as we eyed the kitchen longingly. Finally the food arrived, mine was great as usual but our friends who had never been said their food was cold! Ugh, they'll never take our dining advice again! I assured them that we hadn't had problems in the past and said they should send it back. They refused, I guess they were too hungry to wait any longer! Then it took another hour to get our check, I even had to go to the hostess stand to ask for them since we couldn't find our server!
Generally we still like this place and will be back but this experience left a bad taste in our mouth. Oh, and the bathroom situation is lousy. There are only 2 stalls in the ladies room and the bathroom needs some TLC. It looks worn and the doors are so low I can see over them (OK, I'm tall, but still!). Also, big thumbs down for no changing table. There are always families with kids there and when we had to change a diaper we had to lay him on the floor (on paper towels), gross!
