After reading all the reviews raving about this place, we were sadly disappointed.

We made a special point to find the truck, which ended up being in Encino that day (right across the street to the mall in the 40 Year Old Virgin!)

Short rib tacos were alright but the tacos themselves were extremely greasy. Kim-chee quesadilla turned out to be just a tortilla with cheese and kim-chee on the inside. Not really worth it for $5.

So a bummer but worth a try if you have never had it before. Me, I'll be at BonChon Chicken...

Ate there today. Chicken hash was overrated. Well, if you like a chicken and potato patty that has a thick brown crust on the outside, you may disagree. Otherwise, not so much. Sorry.

Fried eggs (sunny side up) and wheat toast were good though.

Minor bonus: watching all the people walk by post Bay to Breakers.

Wow.

(Just wanted to get that out of the way).

A while ago, I noticed that there was a new bakery while walking down Fillmore. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that it was an Irish bakery. Not having ever encountered one before, I had no idea what they sold.

But I am certainly glad that we checked it out. We ended up getting a loaf of Irish soda bread (with raisins) and it was fantastic. In fact, we just stopped by earlier and picked up another loaf.

Recommended.

After walking around the farmer's market, I was not feeling any of the food there so we ended up leaving.

By this time, it was past 1pm so being pretty hungry at this point, we decided to see if there was anything good on Piedmont Ave.

Coincidentally, I happened to see Gregoire pop up while trawling through the Yelp mobile app (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD THE ABILITY TO ADD AND PULL UP MY BOOKMARKS. Sorry, got a little carried away there).

Ended up getting the Jamaican jerked chicken with mango salsa. M decided that she wanted to try the potato puffs but they were a tad heavy for me as was her sandwich. So 3 1/2 stars.

I'll eat here again though.

Before I start my review, I want to note that I usually do not like sandwiches. But...

For a non-sandwich lover, Marina has my go-to sandwich dialed in. Here's what I get:

Roast turkey sandwich (the real stuff not the processed slices)
- dark meat pls
- avacado
- sesame sunflower seed roll
- lettuce/spinach (depending on the day)
- just a dash of mayo

Simple but so very tasty. Writing this review just made me hungry. I think I need to go get a sandwich there tomorrow. BTW, make sure you go early or they will sell out.

Club sandwich with a cup of French onion soup was the perfect lunch. Recommended.

M says $60+ for 2 bird dishes = not worth it. The poussin was good but the quail was horrible. Sorry.

That said, it looks like a cool place to hang out in the bar area.

While working my way through all the izakayas in the city, I came across Nombe and decided to try it out.

The ramen and fried chicken were both tasty as were the yakitori. But the highlight was probably the beignets. I'm not usually a fan of creme fraiche but for some reason, the jam and creme fraiche really worked.

I'll eat here again.

Ordered 2 things: Korean Fried Chicken and Agedashi Tofu. Unfortunately, the meal did not fit the price. I would have given Namu 1 star except I liked the agedashi tofu.

1) Korean Fried Chicken was meh. Essentially, it is sweet and sour chicken with gravy on the side. BonChon in LA was much much better. Note: this dish is definitely not worth the $32 (!)

2) The agedashi tofu was pretty good with the garlic dashi sauce being very tasty and the reason for adding another star back on the review.

PS. The ramen dish looked interesting but they only make 6 portions a day and were sold out by the time we got there.
