Thumbs down. Overpriced, bland food, so-so service. History lures in tourists, but I bet you they don't get many repeats.

I went to Melt last week with my girlfriend for a Groupon wine tasting and small plates pairing. We had five delicious courses. I can't comment on the wine so much becuase I'm a total wine n00b ;) but the food was excellent. First were amazing fried oysters. I don't like oysters, clams and mussels but am trying to develop a taste. These ones helped! ;) The hazelnut and leek soup was unique and tasty, a salad with seared salmon, mushrooms and roasted peppers and goat cheese and bacon stuffed jalapenos were both good. The grilled shrimp were the high point. SO GOOD.

When we first walked in, they said we had to sit at the bar and my gut reaction was "wha!?" but then it made sense with the wine tasting and was quite nice! Joshua was our bartender / server and he was a delight. He was well informed on the wines, funny and personable. He was also smart enough to direct most of his description of the wine to my girlfriend, as that stuff is sort of lost on me ;)

I totally disagree with Lorna M's review ( http://www.yelp.com/bi... ) unless Joshua had a REALLY off night when she was there, I don't think knocking him for the how we do gratuities in the US is fair.

I recommend Melt if you have the cash. It's on the pricey side for me, but worth it for the quality of the food and good atmosphere.

delish. They make a proper cafe mocha, with (lots of) real dark chocolate, not wimpy, sugary syrups. The baked goods are excellent as well. I've only tried the hazelnut orange cake, but I have a feeling they all meet a high standard.

nom nom nom!

Convenient location (for me), good deli meats and prices, but the groceries are pricey. I wish they carried the usual mix of fresh pasteries that the other places do, and closing at 9pm limits my evening impulse ice cream buying ;)

This place is a ZERO star. The one is required and I guess they can have it just for being inexpensive.

The place is fine as long as you don't interact with the management. The music was way too loud, so I approached the bar and asked if they could turn it down. The woman said she totally agreed that it was ridiculous but the owners wouldn't let her. I asked if I could talk to the owner to ask him. She told me that he would be upset. UPSET? at a CUSTOMER? I asked where he was and she said she wasn't allowed to tell me. She seemed scared! I will never go back to this place where the proprietor doesn't care about his clientele.

If cheap shots is what you want, just go to the liquor store and have a party at your place :P Show owner comment »

Huuuuuge bar with tons of pool tables, ping pong, shuffle board, scrabble and chess. Live Jazz! $3 to get in and $1/player in scrabble and the beer is reasonable too. Only withholding one star because they only have the 8ish beers on tap, no bottles and no liquor. Awesome place. If you like fun, you should go.

This is one of my favorite places in my area (Cobble Hill). Great atmosphere, regular live music (traditional Irish), friendly and delightfully Irish waitstaff, and a small but delicious menu. I get the bangers and mash and shepherd's pie over and over. (the fish and chips are great too!)
