The chicken milanesa torta was delightful, so was the bacon-wrapped, cheese-stuffed, explode in your mouth, jalapeno which is served with every torta. The service is excellent, and the decor is so nice. Love this place!

It's a ramen place in Little Italy. I'm baffled by complaints about the authenticity, or lack thereof, of the ramen. What was one really expecting?

With a dash of ghost chili, a small amount of trendy, and 10% traditional flavor,  I thought the Underbelly ramen bowl was pretty on point. I will be back.

Fatuma's Restaurant

Great Somali food in the heart of City Heights! They're listed on Yelp as a burger joint, but they're actually a Somali restaurant that also serves burgers and pizza. Interestingly, the pizza part, as we were told by the owner, is due to the fact that Somalia was once an Italian colony, therefore, a lot of their cuisine has some Italian influence. The more you know!

I came here during a microfinance bus tour with the International Rescue Committee, an event which aimed to promote refugee-owned businesses in San Diego. It was really inspiring, but most of all, we were able to sample some of the restaurants' finest dishes. Knowledge and food pair really well apparently.

Fatuma's is known to their regulars for their goat meat, so they had a very generous sampling of a Halal prepared goat meat stew. It was my first time eating goat, but I was definitely impressed (and admittedly surprised) with what I had. The meat was tender and slowly cooked in this curry-like sauce. Too good. They also had an enormous array of other dishes for us to try -- my favorite being the baba ghanoush which was perfectly smoky. Their rice is a close competition with its exotic mix of spices - cinnamon being one of them, intriguing right? I loved every bite and second helping of it!

If you ever want to try something different and delicious, this is your place.

This is a review of the brewery, the tour, and the beer tasters that we were given. All splendid! We even got to try a limited batch double IPA homebrew. We all felt extremely special after that. Definitely a great spot for the beer-loving tourist and local alike.

My favorite part is their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.c...).  The photos and videos they post during the day are horrible for work productivity but they definitely make the workday infinitely better. It's amusing and comforting to see updates and photos of my pup making friends.

They're still the best in town. I wouldn't trust any other daycare!

After coming to the realization that I just felt too guilty leaving my dog Klaus in his crate all day, I knew I had to find a good daycare. I came across Dog Days, and I could not be any happier.. and probably neither could my dog. If only he could type and write this review himself! Tammy, Jeff, and Jason are amazing with him, and seem to treat all the dogs as their own. They're very personable and genuine. On Klaus' first day (which was free, by the way), they even went as far as sending me a few videos of him playing with his new friends while I was at work.

Their facility is always clean, and the big playroom is quite impressive. The dogs run around on astro turf, which I was told had an irrigation system underneath. I trust that my dog isn't rolling around in his or some other dog's waste. Not only is the play area clean, but is also always carefully supervised. The dogs are also all tested for temperament issues before they could be accepted. I'm comfortable knowing Klaus is well taken care of while getting the socialization that he needs.

As a first-time dog owner, I feel fortunate to have found Dog Days. Whenever I pick up my dog, I always seem to leave with a bit more knowledge about dog training... especially from Tammy who is like an endless well of dog facts. They're also always happy to narrate how/what my dog did throughout the day. I admire their dedication to their trade, and it's obvious that they truly enjoy what they do.

I have never met a more charming and friendly group of men. It's apparent they take great pride in the quality of their food and service.  We had the Chicken TIkka and Beef Kebab Plates with plenty of sammoon. The chicken was delicious but it was a definite toss up between that or the roasted tomatoes. The tomatoes were simple yet surprisingly tasty. Another bonus was the Baba Ganoush which was served with an assortment of other appetizers. It was a nice surprise and it was also complimentary. I'm telling you, these guys are charmers.

For those who don't live close to East County, this place is well worth the drive. Not only will you be supporting local, but you'll also be supporting refugee-owned.

Depending on the weather, you might have to take a shorter trip to Discovery Cove which we had to do. The winds and waves were much too strong for an hour long trip to Molokini so the captain took us here. It was still really beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

To explain the terrifying aspect of it... one thing one needs to know about snorkeling is it's 95% psychological. Generally, humans are trained to breathe through their noses (mouth breathers are an exception and annoyance who deserve a separate discussion some other time). In snorkeling, you have to remember to breathe through your mouth into a breathing tube, otherwise, you'll psyche yourself out into thinking you're suffocating. After much getting used to, I finally started feeling comfortable in the water and got to witness amazing coral and fish species in their natural environment. There was even the occasional sea turtle. It was an unforgettable experience.

If you're considering taking Dramamine, just do it. You'll probably need it. Also, it may be all in your head, but sea sickness is highly contagious.  And one last bit of advice, vomiting underwater doesn't work. It all floats to the surface.

By the end of our five-course meal, which consisted of famous dishes from Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Polynesia, our plan to go out and drink til the wee hours of our last night on Maui diminished. The food was too good to pass up and no matter how much alcohol we consumed from the open bar, none of us could feel a buzz.

We decided to go to Maui this month for my birthday not knowing what to expect. It ended up being one of the best decisions I've made so far. Not only were there less tourists but the weather was also beautiful. Rain or shine, it was still 80 degrees.

Priceline got us an unbelievable deal but the icing on my birthday cake would be our complimentary beach-side upgrade. Happy birthday to me! Our room was right on the beach. Falling asleep to the sound of waves is definitely a luxury one should not pass up. I'm thinking I might have to buy a sleep machine that generates the sound of waves in order to sleep as well as I did in Maui. Granted, this review would have been completely different had we not gotten that upgrade. But the fact that they accommodated our request with no charge was very impressive. Our bed and towels were always clean and did I mention we were literally on the beach?

I'm in love with Jamie. Those who have purchased the CD know fully well who I'm talking about. My friends and I could not have asked for a better tour guide of the Road to Hana. All his recommendations were on point and we did not miss a thing. I would definitely recommend buying this wonderful little companion on your trip to Hana, which deserves a colorful review of its own.
