For the first time, I felt like I wasn't in New Orleans....maybe because I heard so many New York accents, I'm not sure - it just didn't feel very New Orleans to me.

Very nice, accommodating waiter.

Very few veggie options. I had the strawberry/goat cheese/mango salad which was delicious but a little heavy on the balsamic vinegar. The asparagus side was fine, a bit dry. The spaghetti squash was EXCELLENT. It made me want to eat that every day.

We shared a bunch of desserts including the chocolate cake that just melts in your mouth, unreal. Creme Brule was good - nothing to write home about. Everyone was crazy about the ice cream pretzel thing too.

I enjoyed this place. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their food. It just felt like an American-ish Bistro yet minimal options for a vegetarian.

Walking down Magazine Street looking for some food and everywhere either had an extremely long wait, wasn't open or didn't have anything veggie friendly. We stumbled upon Baru and our eyes immediately widened. So many options for me!

We took a seat at a table outside and had the kindess waitress.

I had the Coconut cauliflower couscous which was outstanding. So many different flavors and good textures. I enjoyed every single bite. My mom had a steak sandwich or something. She said the flavors and everything were amazing but it was really challenging to eat and she preferred it to be a salad not a sandwich. She ended up taking it all apart and removing the bread cause it was too difficult.

Overall, nice people. Delicious food and just a great spot.

I can't wait to return when I'm in NOLA for Jazzfest 2013.

I found this place while doing some searching for restaurants in NOLA that had food for a vegetarian as well as availability on a specific day. We had a 9:30 reservation, arrived at 9:25. The hostess was extremely (maybe overly...) bubbly and enthusiastic. She said she had to seat a few tables before us (the bar was packed). So she seated a few tables and then offered us a seat at the kitchen bar. Basically you could sit at round swirly chairs and watch them cook. No thanks. There were empty booths and she kept saying other people had reserved them (but we had a reservation?!?) so finally (15 minutes later) she put two awkward tables together for us.

Our waiter was nice. He took our order quickly as we were starving. We all enjoyed our salads but it took at least an hour to get our entrees. We didn't have anything extravagant and it wasn't insanely crowded - I'm sure it was business as usual for them. We didn't eat until 11pm (rez at 9:30). I had really delicious raviolis and everyone else enjoyed their food as well.

We asked the waiter to compensate us for the amount of time we waited for our food (it was clear the kitchen was backed up, nothing the waiter did wrong), he spoke to the manager and they kindly removed a round of drinks from our bill.

I would recommend this place for food, but not for service. Don't go here if you're starving.

Unfortunately this city is not very vegetarian friendly so when I was told about Green Goddess, I was THRILLED.

This restaurant is on the cutest side street - off the beaten path and away from the madness of the French Quarter.

I was able to snag the last table outside during lunch time so I was pretty thrilled considering there was a long line after I sat down. Only unfortunate thing is they were understaffed so things were moving slowly and they were forgetful.

I had the soup of the day, which was a soup that was a bit too watery for me but good flavors. I also had the caramelized heirloom tomato salad which was EXCELLENT. I would eat that everyday if possible. My friend was thrilled with his po-boy.

I can't wait to go back next year.

My best friend had an excellent meal here so I immediately decided to make a reservation and take other friends here. Unfortunately one friend was running late and they wouldn't seat us without him (a bit annoying) so we sat outside on the bench - luckily it was a really nice evening so we were able to enjoy the people watching.

We were seated at the table infront of the pigeon structure against the wall. It really weirded me out, I don't really get it.

We had a really nice waiter - he was super helpful by making recommendations and all. We each had a green salad, shared the cheese plate and then I had the cavatelli. Oh and we shared the brussel sprouts without bacon.

Cheese plate was nicely organized so the mild cheese was on one side and the sharp cheese was on the other side - for someone that doesn't like sharp cheese, it was nice to not have to taste it nearby.

The brussel sprouts were fine, nothing special, none of us were wow-ed.

The cavatelli was excellent. Every single bite was amazing.

Considering the salad was just an assortment of mixed greens, the dressing was really tasty.

All in all excellent meal, not as expensive as I thought considering the amount of food/drinks we had. Can't wait to go back soon.

I was looking for something specific and the woman was extremely helpful and sweet. My biggest pet peeve is when you are looking for something specific and they start showing you alternatives or try to sell you on completely opposite things. This woman showed me a few things that could work for me but also told me about other brands that they didn't currently have in stock that may work for me. Just really nice. Clean, well organized and nice store.

The fabulous guys of Immaculate Infatuation raved about the pizza alla vodka so I knew I had to go. Cute little room and was practically empty on a Saturday at 1pm so I was pretty thrilled to not have to deal with other annoying patrons or anything.

Our waiter was awesome - gave us recommendations, helpful and super funny.

We decided to go for the pizza all vodka slices and to share the ricotta pancakes. My diet coke came in a small bottle with a small cup of ice - super euro and I loved every second of it. The pizza was thin and outstanding and super flavorful. I never wanted it to end. I was weary on the pancakes but my friend convinced me, I just always feel like they get soggy and I get bored of them. WOW. They were probably some of the best pancakes I have ever had. Not too cheesy and the best part was that they were well done so they had a crispyness to them. I was very impressed. We ended up ordering a second dish because we couldn't get enough. The apples that came with them were good but I didn't feel they were necessary on the dish.

Overall, excellent meal. I can't wait to go back ASAP.

West Bank Cafe

If you know me, there are few things I hate as much as Times Square so when it comes to going to the theater (which doesn't happen TOO often for me) I do everything to avoid the crowds. I was so excited to discover West Bank Cafe several years ago because it was off the beaten path. I've been here numerous times and have always had fairly good meals.

My friends and I made a reservation, came here, waitress seemed to be pleasant. We ordered drinks and our food and our waitress checked to see if we had tickets for a show (to know how quickly to move). Busboys and such brought out our food and checked on us, but truly our waitress was nowhere to be found.

Our meal was good - I enjoyed my caesar salad and the gnocchi - two staple dishes in my life. I tasted my friends spaghetti squash and orecchiette - both were very tasty.

All seemed fine until we finished our meal and just had wine on the table (2 bottles mind you....) when my friend pulled out a cupcake for another friends belated birthday. it was so sweet. I watched what appeared to be the hostess and manager staring at us and talking about us. Finally our waitress appeared and we asked for forks. (keep in mind, she was so MIA prior to this that even if we wanted their dessert, she was nowhere to be found to even offer that to us). She grabbed forks and then disappeared with the manager (I think) and he came over and gave us forks and in the most passive aggressive way said - "Oh look, there's a cupcake on the table."

We got our check....they took a while to process our credit cards....we watched other tables itching to get out that were clearly heading to a show too.

Very strange experience. Good food but if you don't want outside dessert in your restaurant maybe your waitress should be somewhere visible or you should speak up.

Thank you and goodnight.

When I lived in the East Village, I was really sad to leave The Smith - it was a regular spot for me. Luckily when I moved to the West Village, I realized Jane was really great too.

It's almost always packed when I go there - whether for lunch or dinner, weekend or weekday so I know to always make a reservation on OpenTable.

I'm a huge fan of their veggie sandwich - perfect blend of veggies and goat cheese spread on a multi grain bread. I love their fries - love love love their fries. They're just perfectly seasoned and cooked.

You would think a sandwich would get mushy when delivered but it's always good when I eat it at home.

My friend recently brought me french toast from here - it was excellent. Delicious challah french toast with great syrup and ripe fruit. Yes, please. I figured if it was this good when delivered to me, it had to be excellent in person.

Adorable little spot. They had the windows wide open since it was such a nice day so there was a perfect breeze. The walls were covered with large photos of Israel. I spoke to the waitress who said they've been up for two years - I was hoping that it was a constantly changing exhibit so I could get my photos from Tel Aviv up there.

Anyway, our waitress was really nice. I had nana tea (served just like it would be in Israel, love it). My mom and I shared hummus and whole wheat pita - yum. Then I had the veggie sandwich - all the right veggies and delicious pesto. I'm a huge fan.

Overall loved this place, super lowkey and Israeli owned so what more could I want?
