Had a big craving for some hot pastrami when I was in LA the other day.  My cousin knows a spot near Melrose so he drove us here to check it out.  Tried their hot pastrami sandwich...straight up tenderized pastami and the sandwich....naked.  Ordered a side of the baby jalapenos...oh my god....those are the shit!  Had a side order of the chili fries too. It was a nice sunday afternoon....love it....with the converti top down....shades on....belly full of food....and slept on the way back....yes!

A delightful dinner experience for my bday.  My date surprised me with this place in Japantown.  I'm usually at Jtown and I honestly never notice this place before.  I walked in thinking it's a fancy dancy sushi platter but it was far from it.

The waiter was very informative and was always around to answer our questions. He explained what I ordered and the ingredients involved...which was cool in my mind....more useless facts...haha
Ordered their Big eye tuna tartare for the appetizer and the washugyu beef tenderloin for the entree.  Absolutely fantastic.  Meat was tender. Hell...i even had wine when usually I do not drink wine.

Finished it off with dessert....an Apple Crumpling i believe it was....home-made french vanilla with caramel and a deep fried apple.  Definitely the dish of the night...hahaha....the only one i paid attention too.  Will definitely attend this place again in the near future.

I went to this place for a nice wellness message and came out refreshed and energized after a long week of work.  A friend of mine referred me to this place (along with a nice gift certificate) and I am pretty impressed with this place.  Basically a small one room, the decoration was pretty pleasant with a zen-like atmosphere.  The message therapist, Eri, took care of me and did an amazing job.  Highly recommend this place if you want a soothing atmosphere and a no-nonsense massaging experience.  Well worth your money

My all-time favorite taqueria in Santa Cruz.  I use to drive out here all the time from UCSC to enjoy the food here.  My favorites are always the super nachos with carne asada and the regular burritos.  Their menu is basically the same as any other taquerias but for some funny reason I always end up coming back here for the good O nachos.  Top that off with the Tapatio hot sauce and I am a happy camper!

One of the great things I miss about UCSC.

A nice little place that just opened up this past week.  You wont even notice it driving down Noriega. I've been there the past 2 nights just to check out the atmosphere and I have to say I am impressed by the nice bartenders that works there.  They can make the drinks and they can drink the drinks...which is a plus.   Decent prices and they got a nice sofa/booth area in the back.  Also have a nice upstairs balcony for a small group of people to relax.

Owner there was a really cool guy.  He talked to us and took care of us and made sure we were happy.  Definitely worth checking out if you are ever in the area.

 Update - 9/20/2008
*Flashback to Christmas time 2007*
My buddy told me he was going to have his wedding here. I told him this place sucks.  He told me maybe we should give it another chance and it was going to be on the upper floor of the restaurant.  I told him...ok...but i'll be optimistic. *end flashback*

So last week...I had the best wedding experience ever because of the friends and family of the groom and bride.  Upper floor seating for this party...pretty cool I thought.  Walked in and saw the nice view....wow...this might actually work and I might give this place a good review.  Balcony door was open....cool....smokers' section.  Set up was decent...no complaints there.  So throughout the night....I was running around alot doing my own errands so I didnt really get a chance to eat there food this time.  (I still have the sour taste from the Xmas party here)

Around the time the bride and groom was cutting the cake.  A whole bunch of us were outside smoking cigars/cigarettes and all of a sudden.  This mexican waiter comes out to the balcony and start blabbing "there's no smoking here...that shit smells".  He slammed the door and lock us out.  We're like....wtf.....everyone been smoking here for 2-3 hours....countless waitresses/waiters saw us smoking...some even smiled and waved at us.  Then we get this Super Mario Hermano lookalike causing a scene and this guy even gave us the stare down through the window.  G'damn i wanted to throw a freaking plumber at his face....lucky ass locked us out.

There was an open bar for us but they served us cheap ass alcohol and it's watered down.

Never ever coming back to this place.....dont do it.

That one star you see up there.........it's a negative star biatch

Attended this place for a company party so everything was already paid. Can't turn down free food now can i? Ah...yes...now I remember why I dont come here since my last visit (about 6-7 years ago). Food was ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh....n ot warm...more like cold to me. I'll just cut straight to the point. Bread SUCKED.....tasted a week past the expiration date (yes...I know how that tastes like...sadly). Salad...small portions...and does not look fresh. Prime Rib was bleh....not what i was hoping for. Shiet....i dont think they even ask if we wanted rare/well-done.

But oooooo....the icing on the cake. BAD BAD SERVICE. Waiters were assholes. One of the "dates" ask for a cup of water and the waiter was like...why dont you just grab that glass there. Hmmm....we said this table was FULL and half the table went to the bar. I never saw that before....a waiter telling the customers to get your own damn water basically. Secondly....bartende r was extremely rude....looks like a dumb young skinhead who thinks he's the shit. Boy....i'll take pleasure in gutting you......boi! A bunch of us were ordering drinks and was trying to get his attention. His response??? "Do you not see I'm busy here?"

Well fuck you very much........argh...w hy can't i give this place a ZERO star????

Upon further review....this place really got me by surprise.  Let me take a step back first and point out a few things.  I was unfair to say this place did not have enough alcohol to serve because well, i was just told that it was the bride and groom that brought the alcohol.  Secondly, it was enough alcohol as a whole because frankly, everyone got drunk and had a great time at the wedding.

Now onto the service.....which is sadly not up to par.  Frankly, I was pretty pissed when one of the workers told me that they dont have coke at their alcohol bar area.  They had bottles of coke on all the tables for the wedding, but none at the bar.  I asked them for Jack and Coke...and they say they dont serve coke. Ok...fine.  Throughout the night, with some liquor in me, I went back to get some drinks....forgetting they didnt have coke...ordered another Jack and Coke.  I dont remember who it is but someone told me to go get coke.....on my table. Right.....service.  Another incident was in the bathroom.  One of the workers did his business....and ta-da.....did not wash his hands as he went back to work.
That's a no-no in my books...not sure of what others think.

This review is based on my opinion and no one else.  So can you please stop bugging my friends, namely the newly-weds, about what I was talking about and why i review the way I did.  It was....my opinion, not theirs.  What kind of a business is it to harass other customers when they approve of your place and ask them about what I wrote.  I wrote it...not them.

As i mentioned before, this review is strictly based on MY experience for a dinner banquet.   It is not based on anything else.  I've read great reviews of your business for dim-sum and dinner and by golly....they are entitled to that and it's great for you guys.  Maybe I should give it a go for dim sum here.  Anyways, I'm just giving my opinion and maybe I am a little nit-picky here and there, but the service that I saw on that night....i'm sticking to my opinion.

So, I apologize to my friends, the newlyweds, for being embarrassed on my behalf.

Am I being unfair yelping this place just because I had a crappy experience (food-wise) at my friend's wedding banquet?  Well....i have to be honest but the food really just sucked here.....and it is based on the wedding banquet dinner plan.  I've been to a LOT of chinese banquets and I can say that the dishes here are sadly lacking flavor.

I am very critical of one plate usually...the peking duck.  If this plate passes...i'll be somewhat happy.  But golly....their peking duck was skin and bones....barely any meat.  Their fried rice tasted like it was a week old and their noodles was just....bleh.  I was disappointed of their menu.

To make it worst....the damn waiters come and take the dishes away before we can finish it because they have to "make" room for another dish.  WTF?!?

Their open bar.....bleh....one bottle of grey goose for 20 tables? What you think....it'll last forever??? Sheesh.  And they dont even have COKE!!!!
I drink Jack and Coke all the time....and....well. ...lets just say....i didnt get my JACK AND COKE!!!

I dont know...maybe their dim sum might be good.......however.. ....i give it a HELL NO for a wedding banquet spot.

Oh man....I cant believe I didnt review this place yet.  I've been coming to this ball park since it was open back in 2000.  This place is awesome compared to Candlestick park (always will be the 'Stick).  Beautiful views and awesome fans make this place a haven for Giants' fans.

I love being there when its against the Dodgers or the Athletics and it's great fun sitting at the bleachers with the rowdy fans and screaming loud and obnoxiously at the visiting team fans.

Garlic fries are sooooo good there along with the brats and nachos.  And of course the hidden concourse underneath the bleachers where there's more gems to check out.

BEAT LA! BEAT LA!!!!  That was definitely the best come from behind game I've seen live!!!! BEAT LA!!!!

My first Fancy dancy restaurant on the Vegas Strip.  C'mon...people who knows me...knows I am a buffet guy.  But damn....talk about making this trip out to Vegas for my boy's bachelor party....we ended up here for dinner.

Definitely definitely order the Grand Plateau for an appetizer.  Holy sweet jeezus of seafood....that was a great tasting dish!! A lobster, oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp and good tasting horse radish.  For entree...I had their steamed mussels (Moules Au Pistou) in their wine/garlic sauce.....seemed like there was at least 3 dozens in my pot...oh so good.  Fries were fabulous.....overheard they used duck fat oil to fried the fries.....so....who knows...taste good nonetheless.   Their macaroni & cheese were awesome too.

Good luck finding this restaurant in the Venetian though....it felt like an Easter Egg hunt when we were looking for it.
