98% of their reviews are about their breakfast, but Brenda's is yummy good for dinner too!

Tonight, I had the crawfish beignet (mmm, tasty, just spicy enough, gooey cheesy, yum!), fried chicken (so good, totally made up for some so-so fried chicken I had a few weeks ago, been craving good fried chicken ever since, Brenda's has it *right*!!), collard greens (mmm healthy, good for the eyes, good to eat the greens at least once a month), biscuit (was missing the butter, didn't get around to asking for it because I was full, had to pack it up), grits (buttery, creamy, yummy, looooove grits!!), and watermelon iced tea (I read in the reviews that I must order this, and I agree, you *must* order this, totally refreshing, fruity and just sweet enough).

Yeah, the service was ok, a little gritty, a little rough around the edges.  It's forgivable though, haha.  And the price is right - for all of that plus tip, I only paid $22 buckaroos!!  I had to look at the bill twice because I couldn't believe how reasonable the total was.

Love it!!  I will be back again.  There were so many other dishes on the dinner menu that I want to try....mmm mmm mmm!!

It was me and my college classmate friend, one roasted crab, one peppercorn crab and one order of garlic noodles - we didn't want drinks or appetizers, we just wanted *CRAB* and garlic noodles!  :D  We were both first-timers at PPQ and we were on a mission!  :)

The roasted crab WINS - yummy!  The peppercorn crab was good too, but we agreed that the roasted crab is absolutely # 1.  The garlic noodles was a great side, but I think I could've had two roasted crabs, tea, water and nothing else - I'd be one happy camper!

Next time, that's the plan!  I will be back!  :)

Authentic, solid, tasty Italian food - I was so excited to see a Bloomspot special $40 credit for $20 as a friend highly recommended this place, and I've been waiting to try it!  A friend of mine is moving away soon, so this was a perfect place for us to catch up before her departure (sad...).

I had:
* Mussels and clams in marinara sauce appetizer (Yum!  This was a sizable appetizer, a full bowl of marinara, steamed mussels and clams - but I sure ate it up, mmm!)
* Gnocchi (award-winning, fluffy, hot, tasty and oh so yummmm! I would highly recommend this dish!!)
* Spumoni (good classic, loved it)
* Glass of Chianti (always a classic, went well with my dinner)

The service was a-ok (yes, loved the Italian accent), and it's a charming place on the border of Chinatown/North Beach, easy access by Muni 30 or 45.  We had a lovely window table - aw, loved this dining experience!

Grazie - yum!  I WILL be back!!

I had a free night to myself, so I decided to stop by for dinner on my way home.  I had been to Brazil once almost 7 years ago, and I've been looking for good feijoada (a slow cooked stew with black beans and a variety of smoked pork and beef products, such as smoked pork trimmings, bacon, and smoked pork ribs. Served with rice, chopped fried collard greens, and lightly roasted course cassava flour called farofa) ever since!  Well - I've found it!

A lovely salad was served first on which you could add your own balsalmic, olive oil, salt and pepper - refreshing!  I ordered Brazilian cheese bread - the best!  There were 5 of them of them on the plate and I tried to eat them slowly, but it was just tooo good!  Then the feijoada arrived!  Woo!  I was so excited to see the little stew pot of feijoada piping hot with a plate of collard greens (yum, loved this!), rice and farofa - mmm!  I ladled out some of the feijoada onto the rice, sprinkled some farofa on top and went to town!  Feijoada is a very filling dish so you have to take it slow, eat slooow - but I couldn't!  I was hungry and it was tasty!  The owner/server said his mother makes the feijoada herself - ooh that is SO sweet, a family business!

I can't believe I've walked by this place so many times.  I am telling my friends who also love anything Brazilian about this place too!  They are going to be SO excited too!!

'brigada!  :)

Winter break, just got done getting a massage, wandering through Japantown looking for some good noodles for lunch - Maki it is!  I remembered seeing this place before, noticing it was always packed - that's a good sign!  I figured, maybe on a Friday afternoon at around 2PM, I might have a better chance at getting a seat and quick service.  Yes!!

I almost ordered a "regular" tempura udon, but then I noticed the real Japanese versions of tempura udon on the back of the lunch menu - the waitress assured me that this would be much more flavorful.  Ok, SOLD!

Loved it!!  Very flavorful with hot shrimp and vegetable tempura, the noodles were thinner than I thought, gooood, the broth was goooooood!  :)  It hit the spot!  I also got some iced matcha green tea and a water to cleanse out the toxins from my massage.  I was set, happy and very satisfied.

I hope to be back soon!  Maybe next time I will be just as lucky to be seated and served as quickly.  Domo arigato!

Eh...it's ok,  nothing special, not all that tasty either...hmmm....service was eh, kind of pushy.  I liked the ambiance and their water dispenser with plenty of sliced lemons.  Eh...not much else I can add.

Mmmm, perfect lunch on a cold San Francisco day: tofu stew lunch (just spicy enough, soft tofu with some seafood mixed, mmmm) for my bf and chicken bulgogi (tender, slow-cooked, yummmm) for me, both complete with rice, salad with a nice dressing and kimchee (yummy!).

Very reasonably priced, nicely bagged to go, and I took it home for us to enjoy.  It was like home cooking and it was soooo yummy and comforting - we were all smiles!  My only wish is that they had seating and tables as I don't work at an office nearby, but hey, can't have everything.

Thank you!  We will be back.  Happy New Year!

I was on my way somewhere else for lunch, but my cab driver mentioned this place was on the TV and he'd been dropping off tourists there all summer.  I immediately asked him to stop!  I didn't read any reviews before ordering, just went ahead and ordered one beef taco and one chicken taco.  Hmm...the flavoring of the meat was just ok to me.  I liked the salsa and all of its flavors.  I thought it was all ok overall. The place was quite smokey too...might be a health risk, hmmm...eh...not sure I would jump out of a cab for it again...

It was all right, it was ok, I wasn't thoroughly blown away like I was expecting to be...I liked the flatbread we got with the cheese dipping sauce, we had the hush puppies (solid, liked the chili sauce for dipping), deep fried alligator (interesting, tasted like slightly gamey chicken, kind of cross between chicken and calamari, nicely fried), fried chicken (I wanted to like it, but I've had better elsewhere), my friend had the golden trout (pretty good).  They have a nice selection of beers, and we had really nice service, but I don't know, I wasn't that impressed, not sure I would go back...hmmm...sorry.

Sushirrito

Today's my first day of my end of year holiday break - yeah!  So, I made a break for Sushirrito as I've been curious all this time but wanted to avoid the long line that I've been hearing about.

I went closer to 1PM hoping that the Financial District regulars had already picked up their lunches and headed back to the office.  Maybe people already started leaving town for their holiday vacations because the line wasn't bad.  I was out of there in 10 minutes flat, woohoo!

I got the Sumo Crunch (Shredded Crab, Cucumber, Avocado, Shaved Cabbage, Green Onions, Red Tempura Flakes, Sauce: Sriracha Aioli with Shrimp Tempura added, extra cost of $3.50) - as I am a first- timer, I had to go for it, right?

It was a-ok.  I don't know, I was not totally impressed, but maybe my expectations were way too high.  Loved the tempura and crunch of the tempura flakes.  The whole combination was definitely decent, but it didn't blow my mind.  Service was fast - those guys are on top of it.

It was nice to finally try it though!  I'd like to maybe try the Casanova too.
