Petco
Categories: Pet Training, Pet Groomers, Pet Stores
Pros:
-Great selection of everything my pup would ever need: shampoo/grooming aids, beds, coats, foods (yay, they finally started selling Royal Kanins). There could be a better selection of dog carriers for my Duncan, but that's okay. This is a completely different market than NYC.
- Nice staff
- Seems pretty clean
- Good parking
Cons -
- While staff is nice, they were not super knowledgeable about product. Maybe because this location is newer. Not sure, but probably going to go back to Petsmart for product advice.
- Grooming services were horrible. Groomer was very nice but this is where I put my foot down. I upgraded to the puppy grooming package which included conditioner, tooth brushing and other extras. I fully briefed the groomer on the classic puppy cut: shaved body, full and long tail, full and long ears. I picked him up two hours later and exactly the opposite was done. My poor Duncan was scalped and looked like a round little volleyball!!! Ears long and stringy, tail short and long, uneven cut on body. Plus he still had schmutz around one eye, despite the bath. I asked if the groomer was experienced and the staff said she had been doing this for 'a little while'.
Not sure if the horror registered on my face but I expressed my unhappiness and after they offered to 'fix' the cut, I declined (didn't want to make a bad situation worse). The manager did not charge me for the cut. While I appreciate the goodwill, I will pretty much never go back.
Any advice on a local dog groomer?
I went again during prime Friday hours and the organizer was smart enough to reserve VIP space. Normally, I hate bottle service because I am horrible at mixing my own drinks. But compared to Manhattan, this bottle service was quite reasonable and necessary to gain entrance to the VIP area, which was pretty spacious and served as a very adequate dance area later in the evening. Think raucous party in someone's huge living room without clean up afterwards.
I know there were a few criticisms about dress code from other reviewers but I have to admit, I look forward to going to a place where I actually have to think about what I want to wear. Being an ex-Manhattanite, I have a lot of 'club' wear that just hasn't made it off the hanger since being here. But yes, I definitely know how annoying it can be to have to actually conform to a dress code.
I think that Level 21 is unique for the area and gaining favor points each time I return.
We were a group of six but ordered the three course dinner for 2 couples with a couple extra salads. We started with a cheddar cheese and a spinach artichoke fondue that was made right in front of us (as all the fondue dishes were). We were given bread, nacho chips and veggies to dip with our own color coded fondue forks. These cheese fondues were so good and these two in particular were recommended out of all the cheese varieties. The salads came out next. There were about 4 or 5 choices ... I had the Cobb which was very good and my friends had either the Caesar, spinach or California.
We had a choice between 3 or so meat fondue dishes and several types of broth. Our side of the table got the lower tier selection with chicken, teriyaki beef, filet mignon, salmon, shrimp and veggies. The other side added duck to theirs. I thought it was ok but not my preferred choice of cooking style. There were several sauces but I felt that my meat tasted 'blandly boiled in broth', similar to the Japanese version of shabu shabu, which I am not a huge fan.
Dessert was amazing: chocolate fondue with rice krispie treats, marshmallows and cheese cake to dip. I would go here for dessert alone.
All in all, a fun new experience but if I were to go again, I would stick with the cheese and dessert fondues.
The staff was very professional and friendly and all recommendations were delicious. I had the bolognese that was really much more of a meat dish (whole sausage, 2 meatballs, cubed pancetta and chicken). It is normally served over polenta but I asked for pasta and thought it very good. The sauce was both sweet and spicy and had a good consistency. My companions had anything ranging from the personalized gourmet pizzas to the entrees. The braised short ribs were so good (yes, I snuck a bite off someone else's plate haha) and the lamb looked very tasty. Someone else got a cheese plate and that looked divine as well.
All in all, the food was delicious and the portions large (which of course, Duncan, my dog, was greatly appreciative for!). I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable pricing and the willingness of the staff to make our dining experience pleasurable. We definitely closed the place and probably kept everyone there longer than Bricco's hours but they still made us feel welcome. Love it and will definitely go back.

Bottle King is a great place to fulfill all your spirits needs with great sales and a very knowledgeable staff. I went in looking for a few good bottles of wine for a dinner party and with the recession in full bloom ... I needed to downscale a bit. The gentleman who helped me pointed out a very good bottle of pinot grigio made from the same vineyards in the Santa Marguerita region and it was every bit as tasty. I was also looking for a good pinot noir and again, his choice was first rate.
Tip: Sign up for the Bottle King customer card and get a substantial savings on price. I will be coming back as my parents live in the area. Looking forward to pricing some decent champagnes for New Years.
Went another night and our group had a good time! Drinks were cheap and again, food was very adequate. I had a little argument because our waitress kept padding our tab because she thought we were wasted. And the manager did back the drinks off after a quick discussion. However, drinks were only $2 and boy, did I feel silly afterwards HAHA! In any case, I guess I fought for the principle and not the $$$. Quaint little dance floor with a DJ and while the night life was far from hopping ... we had fun. This is more reflective of the group than the place though.
Between the beer, salads, appetizers and pizzas, the check was extremely reasonable ... I think it came out to $18 apiece with tip included. And we had a lot left over. I would definitely come back here.

You pay before you eat .... for just me it was $7.40 which includes drink. There are at least 16 different pizzas here plus a pasta station and a salad bar.
The salad bar was not super fancy but fresh and had all my favorites like corn, pickled beets, cucumber and a lot of other veggies like shredded carrots, onions, iceberg lettuce. Toppings included garbanzo beans, croutons, grated cheddar and feta cheeses, ham and pepperoni and a lot of different dressings. I wish the dressings had been labeled for low cal versions but hey, who am I kidding? I'm at an all you can eat pizza buffet :-/
I didn't try the pasta station so can't speak for that.
The pizza overall was good. The pies were on the small side which was great ... that means you can try every single pie without exploding. My favorite was the sausage and pepperoni which was recommended. I also tried the alfredo and chicken bacon ranch. Other varieties I saw were:
Pepperoni
Sausage
Rose (vodka sauce?)
Ham and pineapple
Buffalo chicken
Cheese
Bacon
Dessert pizzas were surprising good (I totally agree with you, Traci!). I had the chocolate chip pizza which was a combination of melted chocolate and a type of coffee cake crumble on top and a drizzle of icing. The apple pizza was good too. There was also a berry version and a cinnamon that I will try next time.
I know I am missing out on a couple flavors but I really don't want to go back up to the line again. I don't want to be THAT all you can eat patron haha!!
Ambience is very pizza parlory and staff was very efficient in removing plates and cutlery. I haven't yelped for a bit because of my disappointment in the system but I have come out of retirement to yelp Infinito's. It's a surprising rating from me because I am a die hard NYC pizza fan but I was surprised at how decent the pizza was and how nice the people were.
