I didn't think Yelp could out-do themselves (last year was a ton of fun) but this was an excellent event! MHS is an excellent venue for the number of people had. The sponsors were excellent, music was fun, and lots of interesting Yelpers in attendance.

Thanks for the excellent party (and props to Jim for bringing enough to share with everyone), let's do it again soon.

The food here is great. We were able to walk-in on a Friday night before the rush and have a full meal in about 90 minutes and not feel rushed. The atmosphere is lively and the people are beautiful. While the food is good, it's a bit spendy for what I like. But, it seems everyone else there had a great meal, good wine selection, and a few good beers on tap.

I'd visit again if someone else was paying...

This has set the bar for excellent service and a great haircut. After walking in and being offered a beer or water, take a seat on the couch and watch a little sports or check out the latest cover on GQ. Everyone is friendly and personable. The haircut and shampoo are sometimes what I need at the end of a long day. I never used to look forward to a haircut like I do now.

    Maloney's is a bit of a two-faced restaurant-slash-bar .

For lunch, it's a quiet little place to grab some bar food (sandwiches, burgers, salad). The staff are few and far between but that's fine if you're having a leisurely lunch. Who cares? You're surrounded by a dozen TVs.

As for the evenings, especially weekends, this turns into a trendy, silly place to visit. Popped collars and young women try to impress each other, it seems. The bouncers are suitably rude; it comes with the territory and crowd.

Snarfs on the Hill

The subs here are awesome, much like the other Snarfs shops. But, it's a small joint and it always takes forever to get a sandwich. Expect at least 10 minutes from order to sandwich.

I've always liked the meatball sandwiches but the vegetarian options are great, too.

Be careful where you park, the adjacent lot is ticketed fairly often.

This is a great establishment on the hill. If you like to drink, great. If you like subs, perfect. If you like watching sports, awesome. I happen to enjoy all three.

If you understand the reference, try "The Dude" (a white russian). The huge menu is hard to navigate but once you know what you want, you won't be disappointed. Service is fairly quick and the price is about right.

Trident Booksellers and Cafe

I like Trident as a common place for people to meet, or to get some work done (free wi-fi) on West Pearl. The morning regulars are all friendly and I love the communal newspaper pile.

The patrons are a bit hippie some time, but that's to be expected. The folks working the drinks are great. Very efficient, very friendly.

Overall this is a great, local coffee shop.

The Rib House

We first visited with a group of 25 for a birthday. We had two waiters to our two large tables. We started off asking about separate checks (which seemed like a foreign concept) which then began with writing down our orders separately, then were greeted at the end of the night with "the computer only lets us split it 4 ways". Whoops, bait and switch.

The service took far too long for what it should have been. The food was tasty and everyone around seemed to enjoy it. But it's BBQ, it's not that hard to cook some meat and add sauce. Arguably, the sides seemed more appealing than the entrees.

Worth noting, the décor is leftover from the previous (italian) restaurant (paint, pictures, lamps, etc.) and looks hardly like a rib house. A sign that, hey, maybe it won't be around long enough and isn't worth redecorating..

This is a great place to have a bunch of people. As noted, their back room is great for local meetups. The live music is also a cool appeal on certain nights.

Overall, the ambiance is nice. There's a chiil porch out front, polished concrete bar. The staff are friendly but are very much still in start-up mode (lack of attentiveness, poor communication).

Overall this is a nice place in the ExDo area and I look forward to watching it grow.

Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs

The line (often wrapping a full block) speaks for itself. Jim is an institution on the 16th Street Mall and rightfully so. The unique meats and friendly, laid-back service are well worth the wait. Tip: take an early lunch around 11:30 and beat the crowd.

I think my favorite dog is the reindeer meat... sure, maybe only because I like the thought of eating one of Santa's own for lunch. Seriously, I make a conscious effort to visit Jim on different days of the week to make sure I get a sense of the entire menu.

Highly recommended and a must-eat when in Denver.
