It is usually thanks to my lovely missus' nose for great gastronomic locales that we find places like this one.

Hurricane Cafe is one of those understated and unassuming places that surprises one with fare that's not only copious and generous, but prepared with a lot of enthusiasm, love and care for the art of cooking.

We must admit, the couple of times we've been there, both the visuals and the flavors of everything we ordered: tops!

Fare is Americana "Haute" with a flair for presentation and minor details that make you wonder why everyone is not making things this way.

Dessert Menu? Decadently Broad, with great Cakes and Pies, as well as Side Drinks such as Cappuccinos and Lattes PERFECTLY made.

Finally, DO TRY THE SMOOTHIES!... they are a treat unto themselves, and definitely worth finding them.

****** SALAD UPDATE! *******

We just had a couple of salads in there, and OMG!... much like the other things we've tried on the menu, the guy behind the stove, he definitely LOVES to cook...

I had the Pecan Crusted Chicken, and the blend of warm, recently, evenly and light-breaded chicked, along with sauteed onions, Gorgonzola and Greens, as well as some other goodies loaded into
it, made it one of the BEST 'warm salads' i've ever had!

Wifey had a more traditional grilled chicken, and still, even though I only had a a couple of perfunctory test bites... WHOA!...

So what's next? Pizzas and Flatbreads on the neighbor's table, those looked tantalizing, too!

BEST MEXICAN EVER!

... I swear, these folk have FINALLY nailed it down!

Not only were the chips thin and yummy and crispy and NEVER greasy, but the ENTIRE meal? PERFECT-A!!!

From the Smoked Chipotle Salsa, out of which I consumed TWO cups (wifey was on a diet, so I GORGED on 'em Chips and Salsa) that preceded a GLORIOUSLY RICH meal of FOUR tamales de puerco (pork tamales) as well as a side of "queso" (Chili with Cheese) and those SENSUOUS corn tortillas???

ORALE!

... and when the Waited gave us the Papilotes on THE HOUSE!

LA MEJOR COMIDA MEXICANA!!!

OMG, OMG, OMG!

This place is like the BEST Italian we've had in a LONG while (well, except those Fusilli that we usually get down on Sunrise Blvd in Fort Lauderdale, of course...).

And not only do they have a GREAT restaurant, with GREAT VIEWS over a marina, but their menu is as extensive as it is LUSCIOUSLY elaborate, with tons of familiar dishes, as well as some that sound like they came out of an Anthony Bourdain episode on THE TRAVEL CHANNEL.

Wanna take out? their takeout pizzas have MADE us believers again in the value of a well made pizza; want to cook at home? their MARKET has EVERYTHING you may want to make it a perfect one at home, starting with fully cooked meals by THE POUND as fresh as they can be, or with all the ingredients IMPORTED or locally sourced, to start from SCRATCH.

In sum, we're glad to be near Carmine's!
