There are two reasons to come to Fisherman's Wharf. One of those is In-n-out burger. The other is Musee Mecanique. The place has so many vintage games, some fun, some downright strange, all unique. Games are all fairly priced at a meager 25¢ a play. Games with longer gameplay run at 50¢ a play (like the bowling game), and the photo booth is $3.00. About 90-95% of the games were operational, and everything looked like it was kept in decent condition.

There are a lot of player pianos and ringing bells which definitely set a certain amazing ambiance that is undoubtedly a long lost relic of the past. Even if you don't play, go look at the games and hear the sounds. This is all of course, after you've downed an animal-style-double-double from the In-n-out up the street.

If it's good enough for Tony Bourdain, I'm sure it's good enough for any other tourist in town, which might mean this place has lost it's magic.

Regardless, the place is awesome. The jukebox is all jazz, 50's, and Tom Waits. It's maybe 40% upbeat, and 60% depressing music which in my opinion is actually kind of awesome for a bar.

The tiny space has a great feel to it, and the cocktails are mixed extremely well. My sidecar tasted like a million dollars.

This place is awesome. It's in the mission, but it's not on any sort of main stretch, so it does have a slight off-the-beaten-path/neighborhood vibe. Staff were friendly, and the burrito was crazy delicious. Not as big as the super-sized burritos at chipotle, but trust me it's a good thing. Pretty affordable, with a veritable variety of meat options.

$1.50 for agua frescos is ridiculous considering how good they are. I came back later that day for a second agua fresca. I think it's even cheaper than getting a Jarritos, and they taste way better.

Their new space is open, which gives you a look at their roasting process. The place is very SF in that it's well designed. Coffee is great. I had a cappuccino in store, and brought home some Owl's Howl which made for some seriously awesome coffee. There are not very many chairs in the place though. I guess they're going for the european standing espresso bar vibe. There are chairs upstairs, but the upper decker was closed when we went, so don't expect a place where you can chill out.

Most comfortable t-shirt I've ever worn! Definitely awesome selection of stuff whether you surf or not. Not super expansive, but everything they sell is well-picked. Tees runs at $24 a pop, but they had some for sale. They tend to run a little small so definitely be sure to open one up to see how big they fit on you.

I was here to get some Macarons de Paris. Cutesy box, and the macarons are pretty awesome. There are maybe 10 flavors at $1.50 each, or a box of 8 for $13. The flavor and texture was perfect for a macaron, even if it's from a local chain. Five stars not just for the quality of the product, but for how quickly the line moved considering it was nearly out the door, and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.

Amazing Chocolate Hazelnut croissants. If your'e in the Haight, this place is pretty close. Cute location, and buzzing with people, but not overwhelmingly busy. Service was pretty courteous, or well, as courteous as can be for a longish line.

In-N-Out Burger

This was my first In-n-out experience, and I think that I would have thought it to be awesome if not for reading too much about in-n-out on the internet and forming unrealistically high expectations.

Got the double-double animal style. It was really delicious, but you can't really taste much of the secret sauce nor beef. There's good flavor from the grilled onions, but honestly I think I'd prefer a shake shack burger any day over in-n-out except that the value at in-n-out is way better. I think it was like $3.75 for a double-double which was very filling.

The fries are shoestring, but I have to admit McDonalds does a better job with the fast food fry. Maybe this location doesn't fry as well.

The place is busy, and the hamburgers are made fresh, so be prepared to wait a little bit. I think this is the closest in-n-out to the metropolitan area so if you're in town from the east coast, I highly recommend trying this place, even if it's in the touristy Fisherman's Wharf. At least Musee Mecanique and the sea lions are nearby.

Tartine Bakery

Definitely one of SF's gems. On a sunday morning, at 9:30 am, the line was out the door, and doesn't move too terribly fast. I think a huge part of it is that people want to dine in Tartine, and seating is a bit limited.

Only got to try the morning bun and the croissant. The croissant was good, but not great. The crust had a much firmer gluten structure than what I'm used to with other croissants. If you eat it straight, you might not be too impressed with it, but I'm a dipper, so if you dip the croissant in coffee, it's pretty decent. Actually it's kind of awesome, because their drip coffee is really good in that it's west coast style coffee (not over-roasted so you can taste the floral notes in the coffee).

I would highly recommend the morning buns though. I don't care if they're sticky, but they're the perfect texture and the hint of orange is really nice.

I bought a three pack of brownies to bring home, and they were pretty decent but nothing mind-blowing.
