Friend held a gorgeous wedding reception here.  Out door patio looks upon Hollywood sign and capitol records.  She also had a fantastic DJ!

The restaurant is popular and small. The majority of the people seated at tables the afternoon I went were Thai. The food continually came out of the kitchen, but there was such demand there was a little bit of a wait as I didn't place my take out order until I arrived. There's no online menu so MenuPages get on that. If I find my take out menu I'll try to post a photo menu on Yelp, but that might be hard to read.

What isn't hard to read is crispy pork with basil. It's Thai basil and crispy pork. Is this pork belly? It's fatty and crisp and delicious so let's pretend it's pork belly because it feels as indulgent as bacon.

Really cool corner for Thai. Next time I'll go back for a noodle soup.

Ordered a Thai style spaghetti that was oily and used linguine. Not too impressed with the dish I ordered but am willing to give it another chance.

Bizarro world for wraps. Forget healthy greens and tofu in a spinach wrap with some quinoa thrown in for good measure. These wraps pack serious calories and cholesterol. The most popular wrap is a chili Cheesesteak wrap that's deep fried.

I did the best I could to be healthy and ordered a chicken wrap that was grilled instead of deep fried. Good stuff. I must go back and get their #1 dish even if it will literally kill me.

Wrappidup is a big F.U. to traditional notions of wimpy wraps. Looks like a great place for CSUN students with greater metabolisms than mine. My sandwich came with a free drink.

I'm giving it four stars for unique concept and number of food comas caused per day.

Love concept shops that bring twists to comfort food.  All of the pies are tempting to the eyes.  Your hardest choice will be savory or sweet.  Yeah, I bet sweet is going to win a lot.

I chose a chicken pot pie for my first meal here.  Wholesome - and charming to eat out of the precious white pie cup.  I'd like to see them play around with herbs (maybe a thyme or sage chicken pot pie of the day).

I was plenty full from my chicken pot pie so I ordered a slice of Chocolate Cream Pie for takeaway and did not eat it until later that night as I watched a DVD.  Chocolate heaven.  Pie delivers a deep chocolate experience.

Wow.  I like smaller wine & liquor shops like Silver Lake Liquor.  The selection of wines really makes them all feel like thy are all hand picked.  This little corner of Los Angeles is just too cute.

From the people who brought you Covell in Los Feliz is the most precious Oyster Bar on Silver Lake Bvld in Silver Lake.  I stopped in for a quick snack and left wishing I lived nearby for weekly if not daily bar side dinners as a local.  I had two of the sweetest and plumpest oysters I've ever had by ordering two miyagi oysters form Tomales Bay on the half shell.  The pairing of my oysters with a glass of Domaine Nebout TressalierSaint Pourcain, France 2010. I was headed out to a friends house for a bourbon tasting afterward so I thought a layer of rich clam chowder was in order.  So good!  What a good choice.

The ambience: lightling, marble oyster bar, small intimate setting is exactly what I want when I'm sitting on a bar stool romantically thinking about heady ideas.  While feasting on luxurious foods.

Here's a blog about the wine: http://bit.ly/IAUDfu

Let clamber up on my soap box here...

There should be children's resale shops in every neighborhood. Children outgrow their clothes and shoes far more quickly than they wear them out.  I assume theirs a secondary market of girlfriends, sisters, and aunts that circulate gently used clothes.

Thankfully for those of us excluded from the secondary markets, there's a resale shop in NoHo that takes on the feel of a boutique vs. a second hand shop.  Benefits go both ways as you can either sale your child's undersized clothes on consignment or go to pick up a gift for a niece.

Parents and friends of parents should check this place out.

    First Fridays at the Natural History Museum combines  my favorite things:
    * Animal dioramas
    * Hip party atmosphere way larger than any I can fit in my apartment or even manage to muster in terms of sheer number of friends
    * Live music
    * Walking around museum exhibits after hours with alcohol in hand

    The most delightful surprize was that although I had not purchased concert tickets (couldn't figure out how to do that online - suggestions?) what I assumed had been a private concert is pumped through speakers and displayed on two filmscreens in the main chamber for auxiliary viewing.  No ticket, no problem. You can still enjoy the show.

    The ticket I did have let me in the place.  I grew up outside Washington, D.C. and have fond memories of the taxidermied African animals behind plexiglass that fascinated me as a kid. These displays still fascinate me - all the more so because I'd just watched Bear Grylls exploring Zimbabwe on Man vs. Wild.  I saw the world through his eyes.

    Survival wasn't that hard as there's a full bar and snacks in several rooms with relatively short lines.

    I arrived late and missed a lecture my friends attended on biomimicry so next time I'll cut out of work early.  By the time I arrived, 7:30, families and children had left.

    Good range of attendees from families, to 20s, hipsters, to museum members.
