Alpha Project

Neighborhood: East Village
If you haven't heard of the Alpha project it is a temporary shelter downtown for the homeless. I just love it when someone says "why are you doing this" "most homeless are drug users" or "they must have someone they could turn to"
"PEOPLE" "Please be my guest to get out there and check it out for yourself. It is amazing how many homeless people there are. People just as you & I. How many times have you heard someone or maybe even yourself say "I have to hurry and get paid so I can pay for this or that" Well what if all of a sudden your job was yanked out from underneath you and you didn't have family around to help. Well I seriously doubt you would be yelping all day. Ok... maybe for the first week but after that what do you do? It's not as if we get paid for these reviews now is it?
Bob McElroy is the man in charge of the winter shelter. He is out there making sure the people waiting to get in stay warm. He is also in charge of the first Hospice of the homeless. What can I say? What about Bob? Bob is an amazing man. He's not here saying "oh you can't do that" and "why are you doing this" Bob just does it. Bob is a realist. He is doing what other people should do to help others.
I have to say when I've dropped off pet food I have met some of the nicest, kindest people in the world. My husband freaked the first time I started doing this last summer but now I believe he's getting use to it. He really doesn't have a choice. I would do it no matter what.
Now when people ask me my religion or how close is my faith in a Supreme Being. My answer will be "I have never felt closer to a God than I have helping the homeless"
Thank goodness for the Alpha Project and if any yelpers ever want to donate for a good cause just drive up, pull over, meet security at the side, drop off whatever you have and go on your merry way.
Below is a video, photos and information which you can view at your own leisure. If you need a break from Yelp please do so by checking this out. This structure is HUGE! This is called the winter shelter and is up from November-March.

I have to make this quick because I'm sleepy **WOOHOO**
For some reason I haven't been able to sleep for days, maybe even weeks. I knew it was time for me to do something once my facebook friends started commenting on my late night posts. **Damn, gotta look into getting that timer off my page**
Didn't want to go to the docs because seriously...what do they know..? "here's a pill see you next week". So I decided this morning to venture to CVS. I was asked if I needed help by not one but two workers with white coats. Probably won't be the last time I'll need help by the white coat workers. HA! Anyways, this was better than being at my docs. One on one attention and my clothes stayed on. After she heard my symptoms (can't sleep) and she explained what each brand would do (sleep) I decided on Unisom and Tylenol Pm. Sounds pretty simple but seriously who would've known?
This CVS is updated and very clean. What more can I say. I had a 5-star experience and guess what I'm yawning at the end of this review....Umm hopefully you are not!

I have to say I was overwhelmed by the crowd. As I entered I felt as if I was at a small venue and the band stopped playing for intermission. Yes it is considered a corporate chain but it has the presence of a laid back store which could possibly be in OB. Anyways, Jeremy the guy who helped me looked a cross between Ruggy and Danny. Either that or I had a Yelp review on my mind. Anyways, when I asked him for a bass trainer he went immediately behind the counter and pulled out what he thought would be best. After deciding to buy it I noticed T-shirts behind me and asked which one he liked. He showed me and I purchased. Just the way I like to work. Find, Buy and Go!
For someone who doesn't play guitar, as I said before I thought the store was laid out nicely and everyone seemed helpful. In fact, I would like to go back just to look around. I noticed so many people just sitting around trying out guitars....Who knows maybe this will be my next venture. Tina...Guitar Hunter...C... Hey stranger things have happened.

Fuddruckers Inc
Category: Burgers
Neighborhood: La Mesa
Let me first start with the Positives:
My chicken Cobb salad was yummy. WHAT? salad? I didn't even know they had salads. Anyways...mine was good!
Great place for an event. There are 3-TVs, lots of room and plenty of seating. You pretty much set the room up yourself so whichever way suits your party best it's up to you. Of course I am talking within reason. I wouldn't recommend Fuddruckers for a wedding reception but hey..who am I??? I'm sure stranger things have happened.
Everyone seemed to enjoyed their hamburgers/fries & shakes. I liked the way you can walk around & add to your burger. I have to add they also had a huge tub of dill pickles which I noticed people were loading them up in their burger baskets. That's the name I gave the plastic holder your burger sits in.
Now for any Negatives:
If you want to eat at noon I say get there at 11:30. The line gets really long & some advice would be to hire another Fuddruckers employee.
I never remember so many game machines but then again I hadn't been here for a few years. This can be a plus or a minus depending on how much you want to donate to the CAUSE of the machines.
So my Fuddruckers experience was a 4-star review and I believe it's time I begin coming here a little bit more often. Hey who knows maybe the line will be shorter & I'll win big at the machines. That may rate another star on my wall. : )

Every since this happened I have wanted to post my experience however my PC crashed which left me with my cell. If any of you have ever tried to write a review from your cell then you must know why I waited for the return of my PC.
My daughter came down with the flu, not just the regular flu...."The Swine Flu" Thank goodness for my friends & family who dropped off food, called & sent fb messages because other than that I have been house bound for @ 9 days.
Even after taking her to the dr's her fever stayed @ 102. On the 5th day she couldn't breathe and had a headache so bad she was screaming. As soon as her fever went up and began coughing up blood I called 911. No kidding the paramedics & fire truck were here in 5 minutes.
OK people...looking back I wasn't thinking of anything other than my daughter's health but now that things are better do you think someone could have told me how in shape, good looking and how charismatic each of these men were as they were standing at my door. Do you think in the 7 hours that I woke up I could have put a comb through my hair, brushed my teeth or changed my "Do you think I'm sexy shirt"? Seriously folks, as I caught a glimpse of my reflection in hall mirrors my doo resembled that of a Mohawk with a couple of cow lick parts which looked like a road map through my scalp...Oh well, all that mattered was my daughter getting better.
The men at Fire Station #7 were informative, calming and easy on the ol'' eyeball. Yes, this is coming from someone who had Sponge Bob on for 10 days but nonetheless if you live in my area and you call 911 chances are you will get the men from Fire Station #7. Just remember, it's up to you how you use this important information : )

Right when I saw All American was where Trophy's use to be I knew it would be pretty good. The layout of the restaurant is nice and the bar area quite big. It was a pretty tight squeeze and I'm wondering if we weren't over the maximum occupancy once cheeks were rubbing up against each other. No silly not those cheeks. Seriously, who cares when you have so many good looking talented people in one room : )
Costumes were unique! Of course every costume was unique compared to mine since I came as a **ahem** witch but the free mammograms had me laughing and the Gingerbread man & Cruella really stood out in the crowd.
Thank you All American for serving food & drinks and most importantly thank you Danny for doing a great job. I'm sure these things don't just happen over night.

My experience was okay. My margarita is still sitting in my stomach feeling a little sour about now. You know that taste when it seems there isn't too much tequila but enough of the sweet/sour stuff. The food was along the lines of El Toritos however I enjoyed the eat/peel shrimp which came with the sampler platter.
The bar area was great. Very spacious and lots of seating. Our waitress was very pleasant and seemed to know when to ask if we needed anything and didn't butt in while a good conversation was in process.
I would go back with a group but to make a special trip I would have to think about other options and then decide. Maybe when I return I will order a bucket of the eat/peel shrimp and have a soda. This may jump my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

This place was HA LARRY US (hilarious). We stopped in after happy hour at the Brig and OMG. Are you kidding! East County/La Mesa/El Cajon has a place that was filled to the rim with people. The last thing I remember hearing years back was this was "The Wrinkle Room" Imagine my surprise when we walked in and saw look-a-likes starring Jed from the Beverly Hill Billies, Kanye West in the corner, Brad Pitt on the dance floor, Donald Trump at the bar and two groups of girls on the dance, that being The Pussycat Dolls on the right and Square pegs on the left. Can I say what a diverse crowd. Must say I had fun! fun! fun!. Even though I won't begin to try the karaoke thing I had fun listening to America's Idols doing their thing. A far cry from North County, Downtown or the Beach but I must say it was a good time. Drinks were well made and from what I understand the floor plan has been changed around. Oh and WHAT? NO COVER!!!!!! That in itself was special!
Well what can I say...maybe East County is improving on their nightlife. Have fun if you go and check out the red velvet decor in the dark dining room.

Crave Frozen Yogurt
Category: Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt
Neighborhood: San Carlos
The price rates a thumbs down
Three yogurts came to a little over $23.00. What? Wow I was thinking of a quick way to put some topping back but decided against it.
Now right down the street is Yogurt Express and even though Crave is one of the best, Yogurt Express IS the best & much more reasonable.
One thing about Crave that draws you in is the colorful decor. Orange, lemon yellow and lime. Crave even has those spinning retro chairs. Girl those things can spin. I was looking over and saw two little ones going at rocket speed. It just came to me...the Interior reminds me of that movie "Down with Love" with Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor.
The employees were very nice and they even have cute little baseball hats you can purchase which read "Crave"
This sums it up: Crave is .38 an ounce & Yogurt Express is .24 an ounce. Weighing scale was teetering until we get to that point.

I love Ross. Ross has good deals.
Great prices!
Good selection!
Wide variety of clothes, shoes, housewares, linens, etc.
This is tough for me to give Ross less than a 4-star rating but...
This location isn't the most organized or the cleanest....
....and how can I say this in a nice way.
Well I can't so here goes:
The toilets were disgusting. Bleech!
I wanted to vomit.
The sinks had brown smut around the faucets
Sticky stuff on the floor. Ewww I don't even want to know
No toilet paper anywhere. What did people use? Their hands?
I mean it's one thing to be untidy but crap stains all around. Bleech!
My cat box smelled better!
Maybe I will use the restroom before I shop next time and ignore the organization part and my review update will be a bit better.
