I sadly always forget this place exists, even though I only work a few blocks away. Luckily I remembered today when I was in the mood for something "healthy".  :)  I love the pita lunch special - a pita, fries and drink for less than $10 - SOLD! The falafel is great, and you get 4 free toppings with it.  Staff is friendly and quick, and you're in and out of the store in under 15 minutes.  Great alternative to all the pizza and fast food places around.

Garlic: New York Pizza Bar

Stumbled onto this place while in the area for a class at NYU Langone Center.  Holy pizza it did not disappoint.  We were amazed by the selection, and quickly narrowed it down to a ziti slice for me, and both a buffalo chicken slice and chicken/bacon slice for my husband.

The slices were SO TASTY.  And they cut the squares in half for you (triangles!) to make it easier to handle.  Not that they're huge, but it helped.

The best part though, the absolute best, was the garlic knots.  I wanted to take the knots and rub them all over my face, I was that entranced with them.  Both my husband and I declared them to be the best garlic knots we've ever had.  And we live in the Bronx - there's a LOT of pizzerias there!  There was a tricky moment where I almost took his hand off when I thought he was reaching for a half-eaten knot on my plate... but no one lost an appendage - all is well.

Would definitely go back the next time I'm in the area.  And since I'm delivering at NYU, I know this will be on my food request list once I can eat!

OK I definitely went here JUST for the Muppets exhibit - but the museum as a whole is pretty awesome!

The Muppets Exhibit, to steal directly from the muppets themselves, was the most sensational inspirational celebrational Muppetational thing ever!  No really, it was very cool to see the actual puppets of the shows we grew up on, and learn more about Jim Henson and the history behind everything he brought to us in his short time on earth.

The only downside of the experience was the lack of awesome Muppet related items in the gift shop.  I would have gone nuts buying muppets crap, but there was very little to choose from.

I used to live down the block from Barino's, and it made me sad to move a few more blocks away so I couldn't just run down the street to get something last minute.

The staff is uber friendly and you can get great sandwiches, pre-made sides/burgers/etc.

Selection of grocery items is a bit limited, but it is a small store so what do you expect?  It is a little pricey, but for a nice corner market that's not a bodega, I'll deal.

I never go to this Old Navy unless I absolutely have to. It's sad that it's always in such disarray, no one looks happy to be there (working or otherwise) and the line is ridiculously long at all times of day.

Today I went to return something, and the line was at least 15 people deep, and they only had 2 out of 8 registers open.  Were other staff busy?  Didn't look like it.  Not like they were cleaning the place or anything.

I'd rather go to Old Navy's in the city, or at Cross County before this one.

Went to Babalu with some trepidation, as it's new in the area and unfortunately with new restaurants, you don't always get the best since there are kinks that need to be worked out.  I can honestly say that from the time my husband made the reservation, the experience was nothing but outstanding.

Our reservation was made online, and shortly after we received a phone call from the owner (I believe) asking us to come and say hi when we arrived since they were newly opened.

We were greeted so warmly when we arrived, and it was nice to see that the restaurant already had a few patrons for dinner, and was not empty.  The decor is great (Cuban, with the I Love Lucy elements thrown in - aka Babalu!), and the music wasn't overpoweringly loud.

Our server, Anthony, was amazing.  Friendly without being over the top, and very knowledgeable about the menu, suggesting items for us and his opinion on things we weren't sure about.

The food was delicious!  The menu is divided between small plates to share among the table, and entree sized options.  We ordered a few small plates to start, and then an entree each.  Everyone was thrilled with their food.  I had the "Chupe Limeno", which is shrimp with root vegetables, and a spicy broth.  Our server made sure to tell me that it was "very brothy" as some people got the dish didn't expect it to be so.  Glad he did -because it was basically a huge bowl with delicious, tomato-y broth with shrimp and veggies swimming in it.  DELICIOUS.  I was so sad I couldn't finish it all.

To end the dinner we had dessert, and the chocolate mousse cake is super decadent.

As we were about to leave, we were invited to have a drink on the house by the same owner who had called Dave (my husband) after making his reservation!!

Overall, an amazing first experience, and I can't wait to go back again.

The one, very miniscule downside would be the music on their website.  I'm not a fan of music on websites, but I understand why they have it since it does turn into a dance lounge after 11pm.  However, the option to shut off the music is only limited to the page you're on, and when you change pages, the music starts up again. Pet peeve of mine - kind of annoying.

I don't know what happened recently, but the last few times I've been, I've walked out less than satisfied with my manicure.  It's either super rushed, or they file my nails crooked.  The last time I went the manicurist did such an awful job painting my nails that I removed it the next day - and it had already started chipping.

I'll continue to go because its across from where I work and cheap/convenient, but definitely not a place I'd continue to recommend as somewhere to go for a good manicure.

This place is right across the street from my office, and it's perfect for a lunchtime mani/pedi (if you can stand the yammering of the manicurists in a language you probably don't understand!)  Inexpensive by NYC standards, and everything is clean, nice and bright.  Good color selection to choose from.

I love the little quick shoulder massage they throw in when your nails are drying... and the kid in me loves the candy that is left out on the counters! I probably eat more than my fair share.

I love Chipotle big time.  The one downside of this particular one is that it's small, and during peak lunch hours the line can stretch around the perimeter of the store. However, the staff are perhaps the most helpful, friendly workers that I've ever encountered at a fast food chain.  Always smiling, happy, and they get your order right even over the loud din of everyone talking.

Love going here.  And asking for extra cilantro rice!

Sorry for the profanity in advance - but I FUCKING LOVE THIS PLACE. Have been going here for years, even before I moved to the Bronx.  I don't know what they put in their basil dressing (other than basil obvs) because it's like CRACK and I find myself licking the goddamn salad plate at the end.

The drink menu has a great variety of mixed drinks and beers.  I always seem to wind up asking for the 1 beer they don't have though.  Fail.  Also get the flaming drink. It's delicious, and you can't say no to a drink on fire.

Apps are good, mains are good, and dishes are big.  They also have live music late nights, and the important games are always playing at the bar.

I'm still not 100% sure that the wait for Sarabeth's is worth it, but luckily this time the rest of our party was running late, so by the time they arrived, our table was ready.  Yay!

I will say that the food is fantastic.  If you don't order the bread/muffin basket with Sarabeth's signature jams, you're out of your goddamn mind.

I had amazing waffles with strawberries and banana, and the rest of our party raved about their food as well.  Service was spot on, and for a crowded restaurant, you could still hear your own conversations pretty well.
