Nice open space with many choices for seating.  I would rate this as a good place to meet a colleague or friend for a coffee/tea and conversation.  The restroom is nice and clean, just make sure you grab the key by the counter.  The new hours are great, which keep the place open until 8 PM.

Went for the first time on Saturday night, February 6, 2011 with a group of four.  We showed up at 8:30 P.M. and there was plenty of seating available.  A jazz band was playing, and they played until about midnight or so.  At around 10 P.M. the place filled up.

We had a great time, and I think the previous reviewers have done a good job of accurately describing the place and atmosphere.

The crowd is nicely mixed - young, old, black, white, Asian, straight, gay, etc.  There are serious jazz fans, couples on dates, groups of friends, and even people on their own typically seated at the bar.

The cover was $10, but if you have a student ID it is only $5.

Highly recommended, but you're probably better off eating elsewhere prior to going to the club.

A friend and I went for dinner on a Saturday night.  The place was busy, as one would expect on a weekend night, but a comfortable booth was found for us.  It was comfortable and the ambiance was good.  The service was sufficiently attentive and friendly.

With regard to the food, it was OK, and there was nothing wrong with it.  I know a lot of people give reviews that focus mostly on the quality of the food, but that is not my overarching concern as long as it is palatable.  I'm more concerned with the overall experience, and with that in mind would return to the Cactus Pear, but it will hopefully move off my top 10 list of restaurants once I experience more of the dining opportunities available here in Cincinnati.

A friend and I visited on a wintry Wednesday night at around 7 PM.  The restaurant was comfortable empty with maybe 4 or 5 tables filled.  The hostess and waiter fit right into the neighborhood, i.e. college/progressive, and were sufficiently attentive.  The food was satisfactory, but probably not the best Thai I've had.

Overall though I was happy with my experience.  The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated.  The place isn't overly crowded and makes for a good place to take a date and be able to take your time and enjoy a meal and conversation.

I'm certain I'll be back.

I went on New Year's Eve, but not for their New Year's Special which began at 9 PM.  We went at 7 PM, but made a reservation.  The hostess was excellent and made sure that a server waited on us timely - it was a busy night.  I appreciated the fact that she seemed to care.  I'm going to guess that Andy's is family-run, because the employees that looked like they could be family really seemed to be concerned that we had a good dining experience.

I would like to go back on a less-busy night and enjoy the comfort of a booth rather than a table for two.

The food was good, no complaints in that area.  Their wine by the glass is pricey at $8.  I think in total we spent $70 for two which included an appetizer, two entrees, and three glasses of wine.

I love the place.  It's nice and dark, but if you want light you can pick a table that has a light close to it.  It's a great place to go alone or with a friend or two.  I like to go with a book or and my laptop to get some work done in the evenings during the week.  It's the type of place where you don't feel weird sitting by yourself working on something.  Then after your hard work you can reward yourself with a pint of PBR from the tap or whatever other alcoholic beverage floats your boat.

Neighborhood is sketchy, but should get better soon with nearby houses being rehabbed and conversion of Vernon Manor hotel to office building.
