They had a great offering that we attempted to sample, but somehow we we still drawn to a few of the options... Being the only vegetarian in the group, I can go a little more indepth into those dishes, but don't worry their were some carnivores with me!
For appetizers, I had the Roasted Tomato soup with was rich and flavorful without being tangy at all. Three of my dining friends had the Chicken Liver Pate which they all remarked was unbelievably tasty and served in these really cute mason jars... The last diner had the Quinoa Salad with squash and almonds. (I tasted this, but she had already devoured the squash!)... She said that was the best part, but the salad had a lot of flavors and was grainy, but in a good way.
For our main courses (which were huge! and right now, i'm writing this review while eating my leftovers), I had the Spinach Risotto which was rich and accented with peas, crimini mushrooms, and other baby vegetables. I would order it again! A few of the ladies had the Meatloaf and each tore through their meal because of its wonderful taste. The last diner had the squid which was a unique combination of black rice, squid, and proscuitto...
I don't even want to talk about the dessert, because I indulged! Most of us tried to palate cleanse through the sorbet which was fresh and uber fruity (the pear and raspberry were my favorite!) and one got the chocolate pot which was SOOO rich and really, really, really good.
The dineLA made the price a little more reasonable, but the size of the entrees and flavor justified the dollars spent for sure.
Overall the atmosphere was comfortable without being squishy, and chic without being pretentious -- little things like the mason jars, the individual, crusty breadloafs in a brown paper bag, and how your receipt came on a slice of wood, were all super cool touches.
I would go back!

I haven't been roller skating since middle school in the midwest and this place was almost exactly like what I remember a rink being -- I think the people that work there probably started about that many years ago.
They totally are sassy... When we arrived (decked out in our disco attire), I asked if the skates run big, and the guy behind the counter just handed me a pair and said, "wear these"... a little taken aback, I shrunk away and put them on... ok, so they fit, but it wasn't really the customer experience that I've come to treasure from some other places in LA... there was also a sweaty sock left in the skate too, but thats part of the charm!
At the beginning of the session (1030pm) you were able to ease into things, but as things progresses (1130ish) it got CRAZY... the music was pumping, the skate dancers were out, and i was WAY outskated and needed to take a break.
You could watch people with undeniable skillz and even more sass. There was a dude that even turned to me as I was working on a "trick" (uh, like an out-in, not-hard, forward-skate motion) and say, "C'mon its not that hard"... well, buddy, i appreciate your truthiness, but it was for me!
But it was totally worth it, there were people with tricked out skates, ice skater like routines, and general awesome-ness (and a lot of animal prints and spandex).
I would totally come back.
My family ended up at Taste after the Rockette's around christmas kinda randomly and were very pleasantly surprised... my nephew (age 2) had to join us and the staff and owners went ABOVE AND BEYOND to try to keep him calm and enjoying a place that he really shouldn't have been.
We had a delightful bottle of wine (uh, 2) and a variety of the entrees.
I had the veggie chausson (french for FLAKY and AMAZING) and it literally melted in my mouth. My one sister had the the scallops which were buttery and lovely... my other sister had the chicken spring rolls which were fresh and tasty. My dad (who hates veggies) had the sirloin steak which he enjoyed and he even at the Jerusalem artichokes and really enjoyed them! Finally, my mother regarded the rack of lamb as succulent.
I would have loved to try the desserts, but I was too stuffed!
My fam left and I had a drink at the bar and they took great care of me!
Next time, I'd love to have a normal sans-nephew meal so I could enjoy the place again!
It is one of the quintessential greasy spoons... complete with skillet breakfasts and witty menu descriptions. They have 85 ways to fry an egg and most of them include fat. Its got delicious potatoes and great coffee. The decorations are humorous and its NE Ohio flair is unforgettable.
I love going back to breakfast at Mikes...

The coffee was yummy; the outside seating is quaint. As others have mentioned, the staff isn't the most 'together' but they are quite kind. They handed us "2-page menus" which were both the same, so I think I missed out on half of what they serve... Food is served pretty quickly and you can tell its fresh. My mexican omelet was large, tasty, and served with fresh greens and whole wheat toast. My friend's side of sweet potatoes (which confused the waitress to no end... she wanted them 'in addition to, not in lieu of' and had to explain it and they still didn't get it right!) were really good, and she enjoyed the rest of her breakfast too.
All in all, I would recommend it!
