I first hired Yvonne back in 2005 for help with bookkeeping for my business. I had also heard amazing things about her professional organizational skills, but it wasn't until I experienced her in action that I could truly appreciate her expertise. We had some extra time one day after the bookkeeping was done and she flew into action! Wow!

Yvonne is really fun to be around and she is very sensitive to your "stuff". She talked me down and helped me "let go" of lots of unnecessary baggage and paper clutter. But she didn't try to talk me into throwing anything away, she just helped me decide. There is a big difference.

She will go as fast or as slow as you want her too and she has a natural gift at being able to see the finished result before you even begin. When you get your house clear and in order it affects your whole outlook in the most positive way. You can't really put a price on that.

SO.... if you have a cluttered closet, room, or an perhaps an entire house of too much stuff, you should give Yvonne and her awesome sisters a call. It's SOOOO worth it! And, the BEST part of all, is that you'll actually have fun. Seriously, one reason they are so good is that they sincerely enjoy what they do. They also have a remarkable way of making their clients feel like family. That's invaluable too as it's natural to feel vulnerable, especially when total strangers are sifting through your "stuff". But they never judge, they listen to what you want and they follow your lead, so it's all good.

I guarantee you will be happy you hired them, and you'll be sad to see them leave. You may soon find yourself finding other projects so that you can invite them back for even more organizing adventure!

I ate my first Tiny Pie at the Barton Creek Farmer's market a couple weeks ago. I had the strawberry rhubarb and it was delicious! (I grew up eating lots of rhubarb, it's not that easy to find for some reason.) Not only was this pie flavorful with a  fresh, homemade taste, but it wasn't too sweet like so many pastries and desserts can be. You could actually taste the fruit! The owners are a mother/daughter team and they obviously love what they do. Yummy stuff!

Got a great hair cut and highlights from Olga Dromgoole yesterday!

You're always a bit nervous when you go to a new hair stylist. When I called up at Topaz they told me Olga was great with color and highlights, and they were right. I really enjoyed talking with her and learned that she kind of grew up in this businesses as her family owned a salon. She not only loves her work, but she comes from a long line of hairdressers.

Olga carefully listened to what I wanted and did an excellent job. I highly recommend her. Plus, she's a huge dog lover which always gets extra points from me. :)

Full disclosure: Yes, Cheryl is a friend of mine, but I swear I would not be giving her 5 stars if I didn't think she totally deserved it.

Cheryl is much more than a bookkeeper though, she's a natural business coach as well, but only if you are interested. She communicates well and works with you to find out how her time is best spent. She is SUPER efficient with her time and she does a great job of explaining all aspects of bookkeeping and business administration.

She has helped me with my small business bookkeeping and I would highly recommend her to others. She offer several options, admin, bookkeeping and/or consulting services.

Oh, and she's pretty fun to work with too! :)

First, let me say, that I moved to Austin in the 70's to go to school here, so I have eaten my share of Mexican food in this town. Curra's Grill is by far, my favorite Mexican food destination in central Texas. Honestly, I rarely eat Mexican food anywhere else.

I almost ALWAYS get the Blackened Fish enchiladas, made with red snapper. Every once in a while they are out of red snapper, and that's always a bummer. The blackened fish enchiladas come with a chipotle sauce, which is good, but I always opt for the borracho sauce instead.  I also usually ask for half the amount of cheese to make the dish a little lighter and to save room for chips and hot sauce. Curra's borracho hot sauce is the best sauce in Austin I think; very unusual, very flavorful, and very hot. I think it has carrots in it. It's so, so good.

The fish tacos plate is also great, when I don't want all the extra carbs of the enchilada dish. It has no cheese and comes with fresh fruit.

And for breakfast, the migas are excellent. You can even get veggie chorizo added for an added thrill. Just don't forget to order plenty of borracho sauce and extra corn tortillas! But honestly, I've gone in for breakfast before and couldn't resist ordering the blackened fish enchiladas. They are THAT good!

BTW: The wait staff is usually very nice. One time we went and our waiter hooked us up with a beautiful array of all the hot sauces they offer. I had to take a picture because it was so beautiful. Check it out.

The Coffee Ice Blended Drinks are awesome here! WAY better than any Starbucks Frappuccino that's for sure!  I'm not a big coffee drinker any more, but every once in a while I love to get one of these delicious frozen caffeine infused treats. Yowza!

NOTE: After drinking one of these you WILL talk faster and you will probably crash hard when you come down.

The folks at this South Lamar location are really nice too! I get the Vanilla Extreme and ask for 1/2 power so it's not too sweet. I also ask for the chocolate covered coffee beans on the side. That way I can pretend to be moderate. :)

BTW: I'm not sure why there is an outdoor sculpture of children out front, can't tell if they are drinking coffee or what?

The Canoe On Inn is just as it says. Most people that stay here have a canoe on top of their vehicle, and no one is really in a hurry. It's a slower pace up north for sure. This place is clean and comfortable with nice sized rooms, great shower, internet and cable tv. And they even allow dogs! :)

This hotel is on the main street,  just a block from the best breakfast joint in town, The Chocolate Moose.

Awesome food and great service! We ate here twice. Once before we went camping in BWCA and once after we got back.

I had an excellent omelette, toast, hash browns and a great cup of coffee. The second time I ate here I ordered the walleye sandwich which was also scrumptious. The waitresses were really nice too.

So, if you find yourself way up north in Ely, Minnesota, just know that your choices are very limited. You will be happy that you stumbled into The Chocolate Moose. I highly recommend it.

We took a road trip in June 2010, and stayed here one night. The rooms were big and clean. We will definitely stay here again when the need arises. (I recommend room #109 if you can get it. First floor, side entrance, as well as a really nice sized little kitchen and living area. I am thinking that this must have been a wheelchair accessible room, and maybe that's why it was so spacious.)

We brought our dogs on this trip, they charged an extra $5 each for them to stay in the room with us. I can't comment on the condition of the pool, or the continental breakfast, as I didn't partake. But in the four areas most important to me: high speed internet, cable tv, hot shower and cleanliness, they get a solid four stars!

I have an older Corolla that runs great thanks to "An Honest Mechanic". I have been bringing my car to Mark Larkin for the past 15 years. It's a great feeling to trust your mechanic and know that you'll never be paying for unnecessary work. On the contrary, many times Mark has told me that I didn't need to have work done. That's always great to hear.

If you are lucky enough to live in Austin and own a Toyota, you should try  "An Honest Mechanic". You won't be disappointed.
