Visited for the first time Saturday night and really enjoyed ourselves and the food. It seemed the servers were a bit overloaded (part of why it's not 5 stars) but our waitress Lida was very personable and gave us outstanding guidance since we weren't familiar with their beer list or menu. I got a Dunkel, the Hacker-Pschorr, and it was a real treat. Their mixed vegetable salad was delicious (carrots, cucumber, green beans, beets and tomatoes). For entrees we had the schnitzel with mushroom sauce. It was a huge portion and we both enjoyed it a lot. Our other entree was from the seasonal menu and had a name I won't even begin to reproduce. It consisted of 2 skewers with pork, mushroom and onion with a slightly spicy sauce. Like the schnitzel we really enjoyed it. Oh, and the french fries are outstanding here :)

The other reason I deducted a star was due the tables being too close together and the decor needing a bit of a refresh. But four stars it is and we will definitely go back.

Rudy's BBQ

We've gotten take out here several times after our initial visit. On the plus side the moist brisket has consistently been awesome. Unfortunately every other meat we've tried has been poor. I'm leaving it at 3 stars since we keep going back for the brisket.

Tried this location for dinner last week. It was a bipolar experience.

The baby-back ribs were horrid. Very dry and tasteless. Even lots of BBQ sauce failed to make them palatable. We couldn't finish them.

The moist brisket on the other hand was truly wonderful. We will definitely go back for the brisket.

I've been to other Rudy's and the BB ribs were pretty good. Based on some other reviews it appears this location doesn't know how to cook them (or servers old ones).

Giving 3 stars given the mixed food experience and the fact the beer was barely chilled.

Zen Chow Asian Diner

Took my family here for dinner Saturday night. We really wanted to like it as there are no good Chinese places in the area. But in the end it didn't turn out that well.

We started with hot and sour soup and edamame, both of which were quite good. This was really the best part of the meal. We also had Szechuan chicken, orange beef and chicken lo main. All of the entrees suffered similar faults: surprisingly sweet/sugary (left a sugary taste even on the lips) and fairly oily/greasy. On the plus side the meat they used in our dishes (chicken and beef) were both of good quality and tender. In that respect they were above average. The quantities were ample.

The service was not that good either given the amount of staff they had. We never got drink refills and it took a long time to get our check.

I think this is one of the better Chinese places in the area. But I can't give it more than 3 stars. I doubt if we will ever return. We'd prefer to drive further to get better food.

La Boca

Dropped in for a lunch time visit and had a great experience. We had the best tapas this side of Spain (and frankly I think I liked the tapas a La Boca better than what I've eaten in Spain). It is a fairly small space and moving around is a bit cramped. But we didn't not feel we were too close to neighboring tables. Service was good. The by-the-glass selection of wines is fairly small but it is a good selection. Expect to pay for this kind of quality. Not a place for a cheap date if you go the tapas route (entrees make for a cheaper meal). We loved the food and I'd go out of my way to eat here next time I'm in Santa Fe.

This place has at best 6 tables and a small kitchen. So know in advance it is a small space and nothing fancy. The menu is short but manages to fit in kids items. And best of all the food is amazingly good. Can highly recommend the guacamole as well as the mole version of their fajitas (a sometimes available special). I would steer you away from the ceviche fish tacos unless you *really* love a LOT of lime. We'd happily return here any time.

Hyatt Place

The staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful through our stay. The facility was like new everywhere - squeaky clean. Our room was very quiet even though on something of a main drag. I have two minor complaints. First, the "quick snack" food choices at the front were more limited than most Hyatt Place's I've stayed. This location had not chips, pretzels, etc at all. Important when you travel with young kids. Second minor issue is the ac/heat fan only had a turbo mode. Many places let you choose a fan speed. This one only had a high speed setting that was a bit loud. It didn't keep us awake but was a bit annoying. To sum up we would definitely consider staying here again.

This is a small place, not quite a dive but close to it. Most importantly a) the beer is very cold and b) the food is very good. Excellent Mole and tamales along with the sides. Kids meals were very good. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

If you are really into horses and especially quarter horses this place is probably 5 stars. Our kids like horses but aren't knowledgeable nor totally into them. So for us I'll give it a 3 star. There is one area that is pretty hands-on/kid friendly. The upstairs area is pretty dry unless you are a horseman/woman. The price was reasonable for us as we had a get one free coupon and one kid was in for free. At full price I'd have given it 2 stars. But again - if you are really into horses I think this could be a 5 star place.

Ate here with the family and it was a mixed bag. The interior is very plain and plastic-y. Diverse menu of Laos, Thai and Chinese styles. Our waitresses were both Laos. The Thai beef salad was the best thing we had (and was more of a Laos style, which pleased my wife since she is Lao). The beef jerky was too dry. The noodle soup bland and not very authentic. I'd go back in a heartbeat for the beef salad though.

Our family (including 2 young kids) had dinner here and overall we enjoyed it. For this style and price we prefer Saltgrass (which is nearby) but wouldn't mind returning here. The best entree was the smoked sirloin which was top notch. The best side was mac-n-cheese. The kids meals include push up ice cream desserts - always a big hit. Service was very good and total tab very reasonable.
