After hearing countless rants and raves about Alondra Hot Wings, I decided to give in when my girlfriend suggested we go for dinner one weekend. I've heard it can get very busy and was prepared to wait. At any rate, when we got there it was not that crowded and we walked past about 5 empty tables (used the back entrance). To my surprise, we were told there was about a 20 minute wait. I shrugged it off and waited. More and more people kept streaming in...the line was getting pretty long; I was still dumbfounded why there were still 5 empty tables with all these people waiting. We finally got seating after about 20 minutes.
On to the food and table service:
Looking at the menu, there was a wide variety of wings, great selection and a nice spread of pizzas. I decided upon the honey wings and my girlfriend got the [...gee, I cannot remember]. We also split one of their premium pizzas (can't rememer the name, but it was basically a pizza loaded with as many meat toppings as possible - a small farm).
Beyond the wait time, our service was pretty good, nothing to complain about.
Our order was prompt, and the wait was not as bad as the one to be seated at our table. Upon arrival of our food, I noticed the wings to be a little on the small side. I shrugged once again and attempted to believe the hype that Alondra's makes absolutely the best wings west of the Mississippi. To my dismay, the wings were over-cooked, explaining why there was hardly any meat on the bones. Some wings seemed to have skin wrapped around bone. Texture and size aside, the wings were seasoned very well and the honey sauce was delightful. I look over on my girlfriend's plate and she is having the same issue. She recalls the wings being more meaty the last time she went there, so maybe I went on a bad day. Maybe "Tyson Chicken" is to blame, since they bolster the chicken giant's name on their menus.
The pizza wasn't worth writing to Mom about, decent at best.

Their fries...meh.
A small, quaint place to grab a bite. Good service. For me, the price doesn't match the value, but the food is very good.
