Yet another hidden gem that reminds me why it's so wonderful to live in the city.  Our nice, relaxing meal was a perfect escape from the Giants mayhem everywhere else.

Living a block away I've been quite excited to see new places to eat within walking distance.  While the new decor is nice and we appreciated the outdoor seating, we were both disappointed with the food.  I'll need to see an upward trend on Yelp scores before I'm motivated to visit again.

The details:
- Soft fish taco immediately disintegrated upon liftoff, so I had to eat it with a fork
- Carne Asada enchiladas were too salty
- While the food itself was fresh, the taste was just mediocre.

The location is ideal (across the street from Caltrain) and there's definitely a need for good quality food in this area.  I hope this place can overcome what seems to be a rocky start.

Spacious tasting room with breathtaking views of Alexander Valley through ceiling-height windows on three sides of the room.  I can't even count the number of wines we tasted. It certainly exceeded the number on the tasting list!  Wonderful service from Don.

I'll definitely be back again--outdoor seating with a great menu.  A treasure in SOMA.

The key to getting the most from your Zushi Puzzle experience is to dine at the bar.  I'm so glad I listened to my girlfriend last night when making reservations and asked for bar seating.  Not only was a it a pleasure watching the main sushi chef, Roger, in action, but everything he suggested was an absolute treat: deep-fried tiny crabs from Japan that are eaten whole, the creamiest toro I've ever eaten, delicious halibut (we watched him start with the whole fish on the cutting board!), and more.  We tried the sake that a couple next to us had ordered ("2nd best sake in the world")--pretty damn good, indeed.  I wish we would've had room for the kobe beef, which is placed on rice like sushi then cooked with a propane torch!

I never would've expected such an amazing experience judging from the small, unassuming presence on Lombard. If you're looking for high quality sushi, this is it.

Every beautifully-presented dish offers an original combination of flavors and fresh ingredients, each cooked to perfection.  The Sea Bar Sampler was a fantastic way to try five different pieces of fish or seafood mixed with it's own sauce and topping.  We had duck, vegetarian ravioli, and halibut--we were impressed by every dish.  The longer-than-average dessert menu also offered one-of-a-kind combinations; we enjoyed the Chocolate Red Wine Tart with Black Cherry Ice Cream, or Watermelon Granita between two perfect circular slices of watermelon, topped with small basil granita balls.  Can't go wrong!

I'm so glad my sister that lives in Everett talked me into going to Maltby's despite the recent negative review I had just read.  Six of us and a newborn visited on Labor Day--we all loved our meals!  The cinnamon roll was outstanding, and provided a perfect breakfast appetizer--for 6.  Having grown up in the PNW and now living in SF, it was wonderful to have substantial servings of fresh strawberries and marion berries wrapped in a crepe.  I'll definitely be back during my next visit.
