This place gets 5 stars for pulling off a sandwich that tasted as good as I thought it would be, even though I had serious reservations that it could be pulled off...

I mean, the bread was thick and the steak was smashed, but the fries and Cole slaw just clicked! I enjoyed it enough to have another one at PNC Park later that night.

The only unfortunates were that it's really touristy now ( hence the reason I even knew of the place ) and we had to wait outside in extreme heat before getting a table, and there was no AC and I was having some serious heat sickness going on due to the fact that we weren't beneath a ceiling fan.

But I'll be back for the sandwich. I have no doubts.

First off, the skin on the dog itself was friggin tough! Put up a good fight against my fork... But the chili was more palatable to my mouth. The atmosphere, size and friendlier staff would bring me back again, however, over its neighbor, Lafayette. Oh, and there were donuts for that sweet-tooth afterwards. Nice touch.

Quite smaller and more bland than it's colorful neighbor, Lafayette didn't do much for me... The Lafayette coney was easier to eat than the American coneys, as the latter's had a tough skin that my fork couldn't penetrate. The all foreign staff at Lafayette was far from friendly, whereas our waitress at American was witty and pleasant. But otherwise both coney islands were unmemorable. I enjoyed the food at Comerica Park much more.

Had my first deep fried pickle here. Yeah, delicious. It brought me back, and I ate a lot more food the next time round... The crab dip is good, but they really rip you off: it's served in a bread bowl, but they barely cut out the bread; it's basically served atop the bread.

The burgers and wings are just above average, or the Glass Grill would get 3 stars. And other than the glass blowing, this place doesn't have that stand-out menu item that would warrant the 5th star!

It's cool to head out back and watch the glass blowing - just take a beer with you 'cause it gets toasty!

The people are pretty cool so we keep coming back. I'll update this review after I go back in a weekend or two.

Not really sure why I'm reviewing the Yard, because I usually limit my Yelp reviews to food establishments, but hey, Boog's BBQ is on Eutaw Street!

Speaking of Boog's, I've been eating his bbq and pit beef sandwiches for years, and I eat them topped with the sides, beans and cole slaw. It's not as messy as you'd think... Combine it with a Clipper City beer, and you're good until the 7th inning stretch!

This is my baseball mecca. I've been to dozens of ballparks all over the country; in fact, it's one of my favorite hobbies visiting new ballparks each summer. But The Yard is my summer home. The warehouse is one of the more lovable baseball landmarks. It's really striking. And now that the jumbotrons are in Full-color HD, the stadium is gorgeous again. And the ushers and ticket-takers are always pleasant.

Sadly, the backdrop is second to Pittsburgh's PNC Park. That stadium has the best view of any stadium in the world, hands down. Check it out for yourself. I'll be there this summer...

One of the things I don't understand is the Babe Ruth statue on Eutaw. I respect what the man did for the sport, but just because he was born in Baltimore doesn't warrant a statue, in my opinion. Luckily, we get a Brooks Robinson statue by 2011, complete with a glove dipped in gold. Hopefully others will follow, like a Cal statue.

I've been coming here since the first season in 1992. I spent my entire high school years in Standing Room beneath the flagpoles. I've had season tickets for a while, and I hope one day I can hand them down to my (yet-to-be-born) son. Camden Yards really does mean the world to me, second only to my girlfriend. It's one of very few things we have to actually be proud of our city.

Go O's!

Chaps Pit Beef

I haven't been here in a little while, but I just saw it on the Food Network again, and it made me revisit.

The pit beef is worth coming here again and again. The burger is like a giant meatball on the bun - I eat them plain! Ten years or so ago when I worked in a motorcycle shop just above Chaps, the place was kind of a dirty grease dive. Now, it's still a dive, but it's much more pleasant eating there now.

I was hesitant to give Chaps 5 stars, but the pit beef is just that good. I recommend to anyone stopping by or through Baltimore. Or hell, go out of your way but eat at Chaps! I'll be there Tuesday!

I celebrated my 30th birthday here a couple of years ago. It was one of my more memorable birthdays.

I love the 7-layer dip and chips. The cheese is cold and fresh and I really go through these things. One of my favorite dishes here. I usually come here after the O's game and indulge in Guinness and this dip. I've tried a bunch of different dishes, and it's all very good pub fare. But I give it five stars simply because I enjoy this fresh dip so much.

It's a really comfortable, nice looking place to hang out and drink. The music never gets too loud, until the live band comes on, so it's not a problem to have conversations across the table. Parking in the hotel is expensive, but what's new? It's next to Little Italy, and just above Fells Point - not a bad area at all. I'll be there again sometime this week...

This was perhaps the first place of my culinary tour. I am fan of Anthony Bourdain, and so this was a must-see. I stopped here after a Mets game, and it became the perfect evening to stay in and eat by candlelight. It started to pour so we headed for the bar and munched on some starter potato crisps.

We took our seat at a nice table in the back, and I rubbed my hands together. And for the first time, I ordered something I never would have ordered in the past, before I read Kitchen Confidential and began to appreciate cooking for what it is. I ordered the Foie Gras, or stuffed baby duck liver.

I can't really say if it was delicious or gross, as I was too excited to be in the Big Apple with my friends and girlfriend and finally in Tony's old haunt. But the place was enjoyable. Next time I'll get steak and frites (fries) and call it a day...

Chicago pizza can never be replicated, no matter how hard Uno tries to replicate itself across the country. The pizza here is amazing, and I certainly tried them all. But Uno was my first and my favorite. I love the crampted atmosphere of the original. It's just very Chicago. The pizza is perfection in a dish. I'm a pig, but I couldn't eat more than two slices...

We also spent some time at Due, Uno's less famous cousin, but I liked it better at Uno. Try them all and find your fave, is my best advice. It's a lesson in Chicago history while you eat amazing pizza.

We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel on our first trip to Chicago, and we walked to the Billy Goat as soon as we got settled in. This was the first place that locals recommended. Eh, the food is what it is... It was not memorable in any way.

But I enjoyed the charm and the location deep below the Michigan Ave. It was a perfect welcome to the Windy City. But we quickly found ourselves in the pizza joints without ever looking back!
