Gotta kick 'em up a star....
This place is great and has it all. The beer is awesome, they have great selections on tap of real, genuine english beers and other beers from around the world. They also have Firestone Double Barrel Ale on tap, which is excellent. Be sure to get some samplers and try several beers.
Service is always great here. The food is english pub fare. They make the best fish and chips in the valley as well as some other english dishes. All of this in a warm and friendly atmosphere (they changed the lights I commented on in my prior review).
They are closed Monday, close at 7pm on Sunday and the kitchen closes at 9pm most other nights (though the bar may stay open a little later). This part is a drag, as is the dingy strip mall location. But really, you gotta get past this all because this place is a real local gem.
Rose and Crown has been under new ownership now for about a year. It is in an odd location, an old strip mall next to the 99 cents store. They are open odd hours, not too late. If you are expecting to have a nice late night sampling some fine english beers, think again as they close early.
The place is oddly decorated. They seriously need some blinds or dark windows so car headlights in the parking lot do not bask the place in brightness with every passing car. They also have too many florescent lights in there, which ruins the ambiance.
Aside from this all, Rose and Crown makes a mean fish and chips. It is beyond good, nice and thick and fresh served with steak fries (chips) and peas. I order the spotted dick for dessert. Not that I like it, I just like telling the waiter "my wife would like a spotted dick." It is some sort of custard and very English.
I have stopped in at their bar a few times. They have some awesome beers ON TAP which is important to me. There are many I have not heard of. There are some characters that hang around here watching rugby or football (soccer) on the telly. I had been drinking a Beamish. When I ordered an Old Speckled Hen, this drunk English guy turns to me and says (in a raspy English voice) "Now you're upgradin." It was a classic line and the OS Hen was great and different.
It is run by a real English family, thick accents and all. This is a cool place, I just wish they were open later.
"Bababooey to y'all."

Was excited to see them open since there is a serious lack of BBQ in this valley. I was there on opening day and have been back several times since.
Their strong points are their meats. Everything is smoked, of course, I have had the ribs, brisket, pulled pork and sausage. Everything was excellent each time, and I am impressed. They have great family packs and I was able to feed a family of 4 for about $40.
The down side are their sides. They offer two kinds of beans, cowboy and BBQ. Both are very bland and taste like beans from a can. I would stick to one type and do them better. The potato salad is that mustard yellow mushy stuff like Dickeys BBQ serves. Not sure if this is a Texas thing, but it is not good. The corn is mushy like KFC corn. The mac and cheese is like the fancy Kraft stuff with some bacon bits thrown in. Lose the bacon and make a proper baked mac and cheese please. The salad is the only shining star. There are no fries available.
So keep this in mind when coming here. Come for the meats but set your expectations a bit low for the sides.
