I've been wanting to try this place for awhile, seeing how it is always packed on weekends. I went today with a friend who was in town and was happy to find there was no wait if we sat at the bar. Unfortunately we did have to wait to get menus, get drinks, and get our orders in - despite the fact that the people around us were being checked in with in regards to their food, etc. I had english breakfast tea which was good, and my friend had the regular drip coffee which she stated was good but nothing special. We ordered the bacon flight, she got the croissant with ham/egg/cheese, and I had the chilaquiles.
Bacon Flight - Really good. Interesting to try the various types of bacon which had distinct flavors. I really liked the honey bacon (thick cut, perfect balance of sweet and meat) and she enjoyed the cherry smoked bacon (thick cut sweet smoky flavor).
Croissant - flaky, buttery pastry with perfect ratio of cheese/egg/meat in a hearty breakfast portion. The ham wasn't overly salty and wasn't chewy. Classic.
Chilaquiles - Unfortunately awful. Served as a mound of green gruel, it was mushy and entirely lacking in texture. I expected there to be some tortilla chips that maintained some crunch, but everything was mashed together and soggy. The flavor was okay - but was primarily the green tomatillo salsa which had a nice spicy kick. I ate about a third before giving up.
At the end of the meal we were finally asked what we thought, and I gave an honest opinion of my order. He was gracious and thanked me for the input and offered me something from the pastry case, which was very kind. I might come back to try something different another day, but I don't think I will be rushing back soon.

Yes, it is expensive - luckily I get a discount for being a counselor (thanks LPAC for recognizing my poverty! :D). I felt really welcomed here when I first visited to check out the gym. The tour was very relaxed, and I didn't feel overly pressured to sign up THAT MOMENT. They let me work out that day and see how I liked the facility. A week later, I decided to sign up for my first gym membership.
What I like about my gym:
The times I go, there are always machines available and it isn't overly crowded or uncomfortable.
Everything is always EXTREMELY clean, and I always see people cleaning things up and making sure everything is in working order.
TONS of cardio equipment, lots of free weights and machines, and they have a lot of stuff in their loft that is unexpected (resistance bands, balance boards, etc).
Very friendly staff.
They always have events or discounted things - discounted massages in October, health clinics doing free injury check-ups, etc.

I've yet to try any classes so I can't speak to those. I do wish the gym had a punching bag or heavy bag, and a martial arts class (tai chi, kickboxing, taekwondo, etc). But overall I am very happy to have joined LPAC, it has definitely helped me on the road to being healthier, and I'm glad it is only 2 blocks from my house.

I can only speak to their CEU programs - which are truly excellent. They are affordable and extremely well organized. It was via Live Oak I was able to get a post-grad certificate in working with LGBTQ clients, which  was really an fantastic course. One class a month for roughly 6-7 months, which fit perfectly into my schedule. Sign up for their email list - they often have free or very cheap CEU courses that are definitely worth checking out. I highly recommend Live Oak for any LCSWs, LPCs, LCPCs, etc for being able to continue their education and expand their counseling horizons.

They seemed a little disorganized, and perhaps somewhat overwhelmed. But the wrap I had (chicken tikka) was overall VERY tasty - it was exciting to have a good version of fast indian food! However, next time I would pass on the samosas (which tasted like they had been sitting around for awhile) and just get a second wrap...I definitely  want to try the paneer wrap.

Went here for brunch with some friends today and really had a great time. I had the sauteed vegetable flautas with over medium eggs, guacamole, and chipotle crema on top served over Mexican rice with a side of bacon. Really amazing. The flautas were perfectly fried and filled with zucchini, squash, mushrooms, peppers, etc. The guacamole was top notch too. The flavors melded together perfectly and it was one of the best brunch dishes I've had in awhile. And the bacon was perfect! Not too crispy but not soggy...and it came out RIGHT off the pan because the grease was still bubbling a little. My friends had the naked french toast and a specialty eggs Benedict dish which they raved about. Everything was very tasty, and the waitress was very nice and friendly. The only problems? 1. My water glass sat empty a LOT and I felt sorta dehydrated! 2. The food took awhile, but I am willing to forgive this because it tasted so good. 3. They won't split the check on more than 1 credit card, which is kind of annoying. But despite these fall backs, the food was great and I will definitely go back!

Tuna was melt in your mouth fresh. I had sashimi swordfish (my first time eating raw swordfish!) and it was a huge, tasty slice of lemony bright flavor. All the rolls were great, but I was slightly disappointed in the selection - nothing felt creative or like it was pushing boundaries. But they all highlight the flavor of the FRESH fish served here. I'd come back.

Get the meat pies. They are quite tasty. This is a menu to explore, everything we had was full of flavor and well cooked. However, the falafel plate was a little disappointing - VERY small, especially compared to the other entrees my friends ordered.

All their food is good. Seriously. But the Beijing duck? I have dreams about it. I get cravings for it. Crispy skin. Tender, DRIPPING with juice meat. A flavor beyond compare. You know the Food Network show "Best Thing I Ever Ate?" The duck here would be on my list.

Rice Bistro

Good:
-Nice cozy atmosphere, attentive and friendly wait staff.
-Tried the tom yum soup with tofu - nice flavor, the tofu had good texture
-Jasmine tea was flavorful and they refill your mug with hot water as you need
-Garlic rice dish with tofu was quite good - well seasoned and flavorful.

Not so good:
-They left the door open to the rain and cold the entire time we were there - started to get chilly after awhile!
-While my friend said she enjoyed her pad thai, I tasted it and did NOT like it at all. Strange after taste to me, but she seemed fine with it.
-Kind of weird music selection - heard a strange lounge singer version of YMCA.
-Portions seem smaller than most Thai places in the area.

Overall, a good experience and I'd like to try it again sometime.

I attended the Just Roll It class thanks to a groupon, which was held at  The Joynt. It was not at all what I expected it to be. First the set up for the class was awful - everyone was scattered at the bar and various tables that weren't really big enough for working space. Then the teacher (who, honestly, was a terrible public speaker) was on the right hand side of the stage, almost behind a table so only about 3 groups of people could really see what he was doing. He sped through the first roll, and then expected us to be able to do the rest on our own. Really? You just said rolling is the HARDEST PART - why did you do it in .5 seconds ONCE and then expect us to be able to do it on our own from here on out? There was little to no personal attention (unless you were an attractive blonde apparently), the ingredients were subpar, we did some really weak rolls (seriously? a cucumber roll?) etc. Really, really disappointing.
