Warrior Dash

Are you a warrior? Or just a wanabe?

Since 2010 the Warrior dash group has put on a central texas warrior dash whos funds I do belive go to the wounded warrior charity. But is that the real reason you are there? No way! You are there for the

MUD
OBSTACLES
MUSIC
and
BEER

Make sure to wear your worst running gear because this is not your normal trail run. There are harder and longer and more technical adventure races out there, but the Warrior dash is all about FUN, not about how bad can you hurt yourself in an afternoon!

If you haven't been to one or read about them, let me give you a brief run down of the event.
1. Get to event, see awesome tent with giant viking horns, large stage and if your not in the first few waves, possibly drunk people covered in mud stumbling around!
2. Fill out waiver again since you probably left it in the car and get your race number, t-shirt and fuzzy horns.
3. Wish you would have signed up for an earlier wave since now you have anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours before your wave starts and that beer tent is looking good.
4. Get in the corral, ( so you see sooooo many people sign up for the warrior dash they usually have waves of 50 to 100 start every half hour all day long for 2 whole days.) and get pumped by the music and announcer!
5. Giant fireballs explode overhead signaling the start of the race! so start running.
6. Run! Climb Jump Wade, Swing, Slide, MUD!!!!!
7. Finish, and feel awesome!
8. Go stand infront of the water truck and attempt to get mud out of eyes, ears and nose.
9 Finally go get that beer. Maybe two, then think, why did I have beer, I should have run it again!
10. Cheer people on as they run their race and make fun of people that don't come out as muddy as you.

Austin Gorilla Run

This year was the second annual Austin Gorilla Run, and it was even more fun and exciting than last years.

The goal behind the Austin Gorilla run besides getting to dress up in a Gorilla costume and run a 5k with other people is to raise money and awareness for The Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. Each year Thousands of dollars are raised and more gorillas are saved.

But the real fun of the event is the costume contest. So not only are you supposed to dress in a gorilla suit, but you are also supposed to then dress that gorilla suit up and show off your skills.

Unlike a normal Running 5k the Austin Gorilla run allows bikes, skateboards, roller skates ( Derby girls why aren't you there?) I have even seen one of those elliptical bikes with a gorilla on it. The first year there was even a golf cart that had dozens of bunches of bananas on it in front of the race.

There are always some people wearing banana costumes too!

Pinballz Arcade

Well after driving by about once a day since they opened. We finally got to go when we had the yelp event there.
I had so much fun getting my ddr on, then playing 5 player xmen! followed by a bout of skee ball and then some coin dozer madness.

At first I was a bit taken back by the "cost" of playing the games, but then I plunked down 20$ and got a bunch of tokens. Quix and I played for almost 2 hours anything we wanted to and we still had ton's of tokens left at the end. We ended up giving them to some other people that were still there playing and having a good time.

I would love if they had a bar in there, but I understand the issue of all those electronics and the need to not have drunk people constantly causing the pinball machines to tilt.

I am a fan for sure and look forward to my next visit into the land of my youth, the great arcade.

This was my favorite bar in all of Reno when I lived there.
At the time they had 1$ Sam Addams drafts at 6am when I got off work, and 10cent wings.
I learned many valuable life lessons at that bar, including that if its early in the morning and your one of the only ones there, they will put cartoons on the tv for you instead of sports.
So good.
I don't know if they work there anymore but a shout out to, Brett, Vicky, Vicky and the rest that were there back in 01.

Try the Sweet Hot wings, I have never found a more perfect wing flavor. It makes me hungry and my tongue burn just thinking about it.

OH yeah, want a big burger? Lots and lots of meat. Meat that would make good steaks sad for being so small?

If you cant go to Islands and get one of their burgers at least you can get a fuddruckers. Its just a big ol burger  and fries. You can get other things I guess, but who wants to get a chicken salad when you can have a burger the size of your head?

ok so g here have one of the 3000 soda options and eat a burger.

I'm the duke, and I haven't written a review yet? Crazy me!

So here is the deal, this Academy is closer to my house than the one up on 183, but I usually go there since its close to work.

The reason I come to this store, is normally because its early in the morning, and I am on my way somewhere and have forgotten it the last time I went to the north store.

They are both about the same I think, this one seems to have things packed a little tighter, and sometimes they don't have as large of a selection of sizes or colors.

I do like that its convenient place to get fishing supplies on the way to the lake I like to fish at.
It has also been the go to stop when we forget gels or beans on the way to races.

Overall if your nearby and you need something from a sporting goods store, hit it up.

Meat, salad our soup, three sides and pita. Way to much for lunch.

But if your hankering for more greek food than you can eat and not keep your belt in its original before lunch position, come here.

The food was fantastic overall, I had one visit where I felt ill afterwards, but it could have been just about anything.

Go try it out!

All around a good salad bar. It gets super busy at lunch, so try to get there a little early or a little late.

Great produce, everything has been fresh, and the soup selection changes once a month, and so far has been good the 7 months I have been eating there.

I probably eat here once a week, its just that awesome!

Beefy love!

and they have one of the new coke machines!

Go eat moar beef here, it will make you happy!  The fries are amazingly California style and the burger is all around no nonsense awesome!

I havent tried a shake, but after a big burger who puts their body into that kind of punishment.

Also I am a BEEF guy, and I refuse to call a veggie burger a burger, its a pattie people! get it right, if a cow didn't die for it its not a burger. But their roasted vegie burger can count as a burger in my book if it has to. The HALF the GUILT burger is 1 beef and 1 vegie and all greasy drip down your wrists while taking a bite of heavens crumbs!

yes i said heavens crumbs, its really that good. Until In'n'out opens in the area this is my new goto burger place!
