I wanted to love Bananas. Part of me did. The other part of me didn't.

The part of me that did love Bananas loved : the drag queen waitresses, their birthday song (to another table, mind you), the normal waiter we had, and the cotton candy as dessert.

The part of me that didn't love Bananas says that the burger was average and nothing to write Yelp about, the drink selection is terrible, and they were out of their mac and cheese. Who runs out of mac and cheese? So sad.

Overall, I would come back simply because of their rotating mac and cheese. I wouldn't come back for the burgers. I may come back for the tater tots - they are decent - and I hate tater tots so that means a lot. I would come back for the feel, people, and cotton candy.

I don't really get how a company could plan for such a tiny place in Orlando. This place is fractions of the size of the ones I have been to in Ohio that have been there for years. And yet it was packed to the max. Guys, Universal is down the road. There are 8 million things around. What are you doing here?

The place is small, crowded, and without a lot of games. The people who work here do a great job of managing the crowd and keeping up the 'under 18 with chaperone' rule, but that is the only compliment I have. Way to go team and management - you are the only thing making this work!

The design is silly - there is no parking. At all. And the 'extra lot' behind the ale house isn't where you think it is - it is BEHIND that one you are parking in, it's a gravel lot. Don't park at the ale house, they will tow you. I had to move.

Upstairs, it is all very modern and new, but the layout is weird and results in a lot of space being wasted. And the floor is tiny. I felt crazed when I was there, like the world was closing in on me.

We ordered drinks at the bar. This took forever. There system is a little broke. The bartender got my drink wrong and poured my friends beer wrong. This is not a place to drink at. It is really quite overpriced and the bartenders seemed clueless.

The game cards are incredibly expensive. If you want a good arcade experience - go buy tickets to DisneyQuest - better parking and unlimited arcade games from 11am to 10pm - and you can leave and go eat good food.

I guess I just don't understand how this is the tiniest Dave and Busters in Orlando - so much competition and this place doesn't have much game.

One day my husband sends me a text. He's bragging about this Chinese place he found and the awesome tofu it has. He starts sending me pictures of the menu. And I'm intrigued.

While I was in town, this was one of our stops. The place is quiet and tucked away in an almost dead plaza - so it's easy to miss. Inside, it is simple and quaint.

The food is what makes it here. I would probably get it to go next time because we were the only people in there the whole time, which happens to us a lot these days, but still, I'd rather avoid it. The food was SO good. I ordered the General's Tso's tofu and loved it. And my husbands tofu dish, which now I cannot remember because I'm recalling this all a month later and I only remember what I put in my mouth, was good as well.

I would be happy to suggest this and go back here.

Tijuana Flats

I visited this location on my so-called 'spring break' (I never even had a spring break in college, but my first year out, I'm taking a week off in April!) and enjoyed it just as much as the one in Winter Springs. This one is the original, apparently, but there is nothing special otherwise about it other than the large outdoor area. We ate inside though because I wanted to be nice to the two guys with me, one being my husband who still isn't used to all that Florida heat.

We got the beef flautas, a fave of ours. We get onions, sour cream, and onions which all came on the side which are all delicious. If anything, the queso was a bit saltier than the other location, but still delicious, as always.

From my other review :: The hot sauce tops it all off. I hate hot sauce. Like the normal kind. I will try hot sauce at Tijuana Flats, and not only that, enjoy it! My fave is the Smack my Ass and Call me Sally (the sweet one...with the onions and brown sugar....I want some now....please bring me some).

The food at Tijuana Flats is delicious. Mouth watering. I whine to my husband whenever he and his Full Sail classmates visit this location because I wanna go too!

Oh yeah. Lots of college kids (UCF, Full Sail) at this location, I noticed. Nearby, so makes sense. Just. A note.

Ohhh how I love Tijuana Flats. I was reluctant to come at first as I am incredibly picky about Mexican or Tex Mex kind of foods. While the choices sounded good, I am always a bit fearful. My husband convinced me to try it and I am so happy I went.

I have been to this location the most, but I have gone 3 times which is every time I have visited Orlando since my husband started school. The place is colorful and fun inside, I quite enjoy the goodness for all its worth. My first choice was fairly safe - just beef quesadilla with sour cream and it was soooo yummy. The queso which we always get, is good and great to dip things in, whether it be chips or a quesadilla.

Next we got the beef flautas, which were even more delicious. We got onions, sour cream, and onions which all came on the side which was good but I wish they had been inside. I would and will get then again. And again.

The hot sauce tops it all off. I hate hot sauce. Like the normal kind. I will try hot sauce at Tijuana Flats, and not only that, enjoy it! My fave is the Smack my Ass and Call me Sally (the sweet one...with the onions and brown sugar....I want some now....please bring me some).

The food is delicious, always fresh, and my favorite food around. I crave it so much I have considered driving two hours to the near-Philadelphia location (random one in PA) many weekends. One of my favorite things about Florida.

Venturing around St. Augustine (easily the only vacation spot I have ever been where I literally planned only one thing 1 day ahead), we wanted to get another drink after visiting Meehan's. We were on Yelp, actually, poking around looking for something with yummy ciders and beers, and this came up. It was nearby, so we sat down.

Located at the end of one of the tucked away indoor shopping alleys (that's what i'm calling them, I guess) this bar is small but cozy. The bartender was nice and patient with us. The beer was fresh, good, and they had a great selection. I would say this is a great place to rest your legs and have a drink.

For all purposes : I didn't actually EAT here. I only had drinks in the lounge.

This restaurant is a very similar concept to the Coral Reef inside of Epcot which trumps it in everyway. The decor is nice, but feels like it has been done. The best touch is the 'sparkling stars' on the ceiling in the bar.

The drinks are the same as many other places in Disney, most notably the same menu as the Coral Reef I noticed. Drinks were good and the place was empty. I believe you can get fodor back there, and when we went, the restaurant had a wait, but we were the only people back in the bar.

I adore Disney. And their restaurants. And their incredible attention to design detail. Back when I started college, some Disney employees who had worked on designing and creating the atmosphere of the Animal Kingdom Lodge visited my college to discuss the process. It was truly amazing, and I have wanted to go to this hotel since. I've been to Disney about 4-5 times since, and hadn't made it until this April.

The restaurant is tucked away in the lower corner of the level. It does not have a overlook of the 'savannah' with the animals, but it does have large windows that overlook a pond at the hotel. It is very beautiful inside with comfortable seating and a nice soft light.

They have a really amazing selection of wine that is made primarily in South Africa with a map to show where the wine comes from. I chose a white German style wine that was delicious.

The bread they serve is one of the highlights of the meal for me. The Ethiopian honey bread is one of the best table breads I have ever had - and my husband loved it too. The foccacia which is topped with flax seed is good, but nothing to write home about until you add the 'tandoori' spiced butter. We enjoyed this part quite a bit.

Now the part of the meal that I must insist you order is the African flatbreads. These little pizzas, so to speak, were SO delicious. We chose the African spiced fire roasted chicken and it was amazing. The dough is well cooked and tasty, the chicken was perfectly cooked, the peppadews added a great taste, and the 'zough' sauce added a delicious spice unlike anything we have ever really had before. And bacon to add to it. I could have eaten like three of these. I would come back and order this alone.

The low point of our meal was our steak. The oak grilled filet just didn't compare to any other steak we have had at Disney, let alone some other places. I found it to be dry and tasteless and without enough sauce. The sauce itself was great - but there wasn't enough of it. The risotto style couscous was too starchy with the steak and hard to eat - the mix of the two ideas was weird and not my favorite thing. I avoided eating it.

We finished our meal with a cheese plate. The cheese plate was good, but again, not in my top. The selection and cheese itself was good, but the pairings were fairly normal and nothing I couldn't find even back here in Pennsylvania. But still good and a great finish, especially after the disappointing steak.

Overall, I really do suggest this restaurant. It's a good one, but stick to the more 'African-inspired' dishes like the wild boar tenderloin, flatbreads, etc. The location and decoration alone is worth the visit.

I've been craving sukiyaki since I left my hometown of Cincinnati, and since it is no where to be found in the area I actually live in, I started scouting around Orlando for somewhere that would fulfill my sukiyaki craving. Rangetsu was my best bet - and I spent, I kid you not, months staring down the menu like a crazed person. I was so excited to get here and eat delicious beef.

The place is a bit weird to find - I wouldn't say hard, but my GPS had us doing a very unnecessary U-turn, you can just turn left into it (or right....if coming the other way!) It tacked onto the end of a condo/apartment complex of some sort. It is quite nice and new on the exterior, and the interior is really stunningly beautiful. I absolutely loved the interior. It is very modern and well thought out.

To start, my husband and I ordered the gyoza, which was delicious. The meat and seasoning was perfect - only complaint was that the sauc e was a bit watery and wasn't able to add much flavor. I would recommend them.

I chose to get a bacon wrapped cherry tomato robata, and I wish we had gotten more! I want to come again and get various robata dishes as a meal. They were the BEST thing ever. Warm, ripe, delicious tomatoes wrapped in yummy crispy bacon with delicious seasonings to go along and dip in - YES! It was three pieces of heaven in my mouth. Just typing about it makes me want to hop in the car and drive the 14 hours down to Orlando to get some.

We chose the Rengetsu sukiyaki with the chairman's reserve (not kobe) beef. I have done sukiyaki many times before, and while good here, I am a bit partial to being able to control it more myself. Every time I went to get the chop sticks to add more or take some out, someone hurried over to do it for me. While very great service, it felt a bit awkward, and we had less control over things.  They mix their sauce (soy-sugar-sake) and mix with water at the table. I enjoy places that allow you to create the sauce yourself in the traditional way, but theirs is still very good and great if you are just starting. I can say my first experience trying to do all of this on my own was a mess, so I can appreciate their dedication to service and making the experience easy to the customer.

The beef was a good quality and very delicious. The veggies were delicious, but I found that we did not have enough onions and a few other things. They do a raw egg 'dipping sauce' where they crack an egg, stir, and put a small shallow bowl in front of you. Your goodies from the pot are then put in the raw egg. It is good - I would say  try it - but it is a risk. I personally shouldn't have taken it, but I did devour my food in it. I do too much for deliciousness :)

We left full and happy. The experience was good and we really did enjoy the place - I would go back in a heartbeat, but I would focus on all that delicious robata on the menu!

Monte Carlo Pizza II

So I'm going to say I'm a fan. Especially in comparison to most every other pizza place around.

I came home one day to a menu stuck in my door. I'm fine with that. If you want to tell me you deliver to my house by bringing me things, I'm more than okay with that. I hadn't tried new pizza in awhile as I had more than given up on finding another decent place, but I decided I should be brave one weekend.

I ordered a philly cheese steak pizza and bread sticks. The pizza came quickly, only weird thing was there was no credit card slip to sign, so I couldn't give him a tip on the card. I ended up giving the poor guy 2 dollars and some change all in dimes, nickles, and quarters. Delivery guy, if you are reading this, I'm really sorry about that.

Anyhow, pizza was good. Crust was sturdy, thin, and tasty. Sauce was good as well. All sauce seems watery to me here, but in comparison, it is one of the better sauces. And toppings were well spread out and of good quality. It is definitely a place I would go to again, but I would try another pizza simply because I bet there is something better.

Breadsticks were good, incredibly crispy! Almost like if biscotti were breadsticks - if that makes sense. Garlicky, buttery, crispy sticks of bread with a watery marinara sauce to accompany. Nothing special that I would order again.

Overall, fast delivery, good quality ingredients, and great ability to be re-heated makes this a go-to place for me. Yay for finding two good pizza places in the area!
