Little Bird Family Childcare

My daughter attends Little Bird at least 3 days a week and sometimes 4 days a week.  When she started she was one of 4 kids.  Then she was only one of 3.  Now she is one of 5 kids.  They always provide lots of love and I like that the whole family is involved in the childcare business.  The price is very affordable as well.  Their license is in tip-top shape and they are only a few blocks from my work.  All in all, a very nice childcare solution for us.

Editcetera

I have heard good things about the classes given by Editcetera.  I had high hopes for my writing for the web class the night the bridge closed.  My work sent almost 10 people to this thing - just about half the class.  I had to leave the kiddo with dad to put to bed (his second time doing this without me).  I couldn't even come to work late because of a staff meeting (which was really good and just high-lighted even further what was lacking with this class) which resulted in a 12 hour work day for me.  I wish I could say that it was all worth it.  It wasn't.

It started with the presenter not having the right hook-up for her laptop to show the presentation on the screen and no handouts either.  She did have a few editing exercises for us to do in class.  Interesting but not the depth I was looking for.

After hearing that the Bay Bridge had just closed, our San Francisco contingent huddled to figure out a plan to get home.  The break ended with most of us scattering to the wind with about an hour of class left to go.  The few who remained reported back that we didn't miss much but a discussion on how to get a job in the field - not helpful! :(

I might try taking a class with them again.  I hear the editors upstairs really like the one they are taking.

I stood in line outside this clinic for 3 hours yesterday to get myself and my 7 month old daughter our free H1N1 vaccine.  We didn't get it.  They started giving shots at 4PM.  The bridge was closed.  We took BART over and arrived around 4:30PM.  They were only supposed to go until 7PM.  When it became clear that we were not going to get into the clinic by the cut-off time, they started stamping our papers with our medical information on them and giving us a sequential number.  We were told that we would get priority on the second day, over the people who were just showing up for the first time on Friday.  I think they gave close to 500 shots the first day.

Today I took BART over a little earlier and my daughter and I were in line by 3:45PM.  They had us line up by our number, given to us on the previous day.  The new people all lined up in a separate line like we did the day before.  At 4PM they started to call our numbers in order.  We were numbers 203 and 204.  Not all 200 people who were in line before me the day before showed up.  I was out of there with a shot for my daughter and the nasal spray for myself by 6PM.  I was almost giddy with glee!

Yeah, we stood in line for over 5 hours but the shots were free and I couldn't get one anywhere else.  Thank you Mission Neighborhood Health Center and thank you city of San Francisco.  You did a great job of managing a difficult situation

Had the club sandwich with fries here last night.  The bread was the same as you would get on the side when you ordered a salad at Cafe Intermezzo next door.  Although, I haven't been to Cafe Intermezzo for awhile now and it had a different name.  Looks like they still do the salad thing.

I digress!

I also had a pint of Green Flash IPA and Arrogant Bastard.  They had plenty of great beers on tap to choose from.  It would be nice to dine on a day with good weather and sit out on the back patio.  If the weather was stormy, by the fire is a nice spot.

Just had the Pumpkin Curry with brown rice for lunch as a take out item.  I would totally eat it again!

I have to say that I have a love affair with Pumpkin right now.  It is probably the time of year - it reminds me so much of fall.

A short walk half way around the lake there and the other half home.  This place is exactly half-way around for us.

Love the outside area on the dock!  The hubby, baby, and I sat there enjoying the gorgeous weather on Saturday while imbibing on their house made beer.  He had the IPA and I had the Red.  Both were delish!

I had to try the deviled eggs too.  Yum!

We ended by sharing the Rye Whiskey cocktail.

We will be doing this again!

Fab!

Just got back from Blue Bottle Coffee in Jack London Square (cafe and roaster).  How is it that no one else has Yelped this mother yet?  Their loss is my gain!  They opened yesterday.

You can't go wrong with any coffee beverage here.  Coming soon...book pressed sandwiches (inspired by Belgian truckers)...YUM!

Just got my Ergo carrier for my little one.  Going to Hawaii soon and would rather use that than cart around a stroller, if at all possible.

They didn't have the quality of used clothing I was hoping for but they do have lots of other interesting items.

Great coffee, yummy BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and a side of corn bread.  I also shared the fried oyster Po' Boy.  Not really my thing but I heard from others that were fans of the oyster Po Boy and they liked it.  Also had a bite of the savory biscuit and it was REALLY good.  For dessert we shared a salty chocolate chip cookie.

I want to try breakfast/brunch here next.

I would totally go to brunch here again.  The bloody Mary was a little watery and the Chilaquiles had a few too many tortilla chip (and not enough egg).  BUT Hazel slept through the whole meal peacefully in her car seat propped up on our extra 2 person table.
