Bronx-Whitestone Bridge

My favorite bridge as a kid. Traveling with my dad, we have gone over the GW Bridge and the Whitestone hundreds of times and I always liked the Whitestone better. I think because it was always smooth to travel on (this was the 80s so it's really different now) and the drive-in was 5 minutes away.

YES, I'm that old, even though the multiplex went up when I was 8. We would go to Long Island a lot and as I kid, LI was much cooler than going to Jersey on the GW. I've been on it several times as an adult and all I can say is to please spruce it up.

Look at Manhattan to the left at night when you're going back to the Bronx on that bridge. Simply beautiful.

He's a real American hero!! Always smiling and always bad-ass. To be honest, the times I've seen him, he never PLAYED the guitar. Is this a scam?

To quote Anna P., "It takes balls to play the guitar in 27 degrees and nothing but tighty whities and cowboy boots in the middle of NYC."

He gets extra points for being in the same vicinity as The Black Israelites. Think about it...Practically butt-naked white dude with a guitar freezing his yambags off and being around those angry brothers? THAT takes balls...

Megan C. hit it right on the head. It took me about 10 minutes to sign up and they have a serious filtering system based on your lifestyle, likes and interests. It keeps the thumb on the pulse of what's going on in NYC that relates to YOU.

After I signed up, I automatically received invites to over a dozen events. Event Me...where have you been all my life? Very, Very cool. I see some Taconic South trips coming up real soon...(not that I need a reason to hit the city anyway.)

Roger Hoffman is a vital part of Red Hook and his shop is simply great. There are so many rare, hard-to-find and off the wall items at his antique store. I make an effort to stop by almost every week and I have to ask while you're reading...

Came here for the Yelp Giftacular Event. It reminded me of Tunnel for a little while. I need to attend more functions here. This structure is truly special. As a DJ, I can just imagine how a crowded floor would look like; WOW.

PRO: Another Puerto Rican restaurant in the Hudson Valley that has great food at great prices. The Pernil w/ Yellow Rice & Beans were on point. I was so high off it, I was going to sell my Camry on the street and take the money to buy beans. I was going to mash the beans, buy a kit and shoot the liquid in my veins but I hate needles.
*I'm really f*cked up - I REALLY hate needles yet I give blood regularly since 1993...watch your back around me...I'm CRAZY MAN!!!!

CON: They're in Middletown and I live over an hour away. This will not be a regular spot to visit. Hell no...my ass is not going to Middletown for a Nuyurican Fix. 87 octane is expensive bitch!

Robibero Family Vineyards

Here's the deal...the Robibero Family are great at what they do and I'm glad to have a local winery that isn't snobby. The property is beautiful, especially at night. They're new to the game and they're in New Paltz.
The Robiberos are exceptional hosts and a delight to talk wine with. I cannot stress enough about the fun you will have here. I recommend two of their wines as they are favorites of mine: The 2010 Dry Reisling and the insanely popular 2010 87 North. These wines are no joke and I mean it. I am planning on attending their "Sweet & Sinful Revenge" event on Feb. 11th & 12th. I will have fun there and you should not wait any longer. Go to New Paltz and buy some wine!!!
