If you're on a road trip along highway 1 and smell the bbq, make sure you stop here. Prawns n fish combo.... 2 moist pieces of fish and 3-4 huge pieces of prawns. A light and crispy batter!!! Thanks for fixing my fish n chip craving. It's too bad we don't have a place this good in SF!

Note to self... need to try the clam chowder and bbq oysters next time!!!

The food here wasn't the best but the view from the balcony is breathtaking...am I sad it closed?...probably not I guess...I can't wait to head back when a new restaurant moves into this space.

I took a survey months ago regarding different types of food trucks. This bun truck was one of my top 3 picks but not my first pick. So I've already had it in my head today that this can't be that good. It's almost like I was trying to find something bad about it.

So we arrive around noon... nobody in line, but this probably won't last for long once word gets out. It's about $6 for a baked bun and $3 for a steamed bun. When you think of buns... at least to an asian person,  you think of bbq pork buns. If you've had peking duck before, that's the steamed bun... you know the one you can place on your lip to mimic big lips. If you're don't know what I'm talking about, you're probably not as immature as me... so let's move on! The baked buns are exactly like the buns you get at a dim sum place except instead of having it stuffed, this truck creates their own version and sandwiches meat in between the bun like a hamburger.

Okay enough with the intro. I ordered a baked pork belly bun. It was really juice, lots of burnt edges, and pickled daikon in between a baked bun. My friends ordered the lion head meatball... a bit messy but they said it was good. If you want to try the meatball, I say it's better to order the baked bun instead of steamed bun... why? I'm going to make you think about this one. =)

Oh a friend also ordered the fried tofu over steamed bun... that was actually my last pick on the list.... no meat... bleh! My friend couldn't stop talking about it.... so I might have change my mind and try it!

Iced drinks.....pineapple salted caramel....strawberry coconut. The pineapple salted caramel wasn't bad at all.. reminded me of Birite. I had the strawberry coconut... tons of coconut and strawberry in the drink. Well worth the $3.50 I think and a bonus that it was really good!

Location is a bit far from a lot of people working the financial district. But I'm sure they'll probably try to swing by this area....so get your buns now or face the long lines I foresee in their future. =)

Oh and you have to see the design on the truck. I wouldn't mind owning a shirt if they started making one... *hint hint*

Overall review...skeptical at first but I guess don't knock it unless you try it! It's a lot better than other trucks where I only need to go once and forget about it. delicious buns and drinks.. can't wait to try the rest next time!

Update - 4/29/2010
Everything is still as good as I remembered. I haven't been back for a while... neglected yes!!!

We showed up during the happy hour and the place filled up around 6:30. I was a bit disappointed this time because 2 of the items I ordered on the happy hour menu didn't show up... waitress actually said I didn't say it but I did! Then two of the rolls I ordered from the happy hour menu for $4.50 showed up as regular rolls $13, $11.

Other than not getting my order right, I was pleasantly satisfied. I just need to make sure next time if I'm coming for happy hour, that they'll get my order right!

They serve "Sustainable sushi" here.....what is it you ask? It's seafood that is caught or farmed that can exist long-term without harming their ecosystem... so I guess it's just fish that aren't over-harvested right?

I went on a Tuesday evening at 8pm expecting to wait for a table.... to my surprise, it was only half full. I'm not a big shellfish fan but the "baked mussels" sounds too good to pass... and it was an excellent choice.. it just melts in your mouth... spicy, sweet, goodness! We also got the sweet potato roll which had pieces of fried potato in the center which wasn't bad... pretty crunchy though. Spicy tempura roll was okay, wasn't spicy unless you dip the sauce on the side. Mix it up roll was really good, bits of crab meat on top with a slightly spicy sauce on top. Tataki roll was a bit too much for me... some of the fish were fishy. I'll probably get the Double Double roll(tempura and spicy tuna sprinkled with a few secrets) next time...didn't see it until I was done eating.

The service there was prompt and we didn't feel rushed at all. The dishes came out almost one at time....the cheesecake is good but not sure if I'll get the red bean pearl next time.

I like the idea of sustainable sushi but there are some fishes that I like to order when I eat at japanese restaurants. Also I'm a bit picky about my seafood because I can't eat all types of fish.... so I felt a bit restricted on what I could order on the menu. I'll definitely come again!!!

A 5-10 minute ride by taxi from the strip.... if you're sick of all the fine dining and need a dim sum fix... this is the place to go. Though it does get busy on the weekend, the wait isn't so bad.

There are cart ladies push dim sum to every table so catch them before they sell out of your favorites.. mine is tripe so I order two each time. =)

A friend of mine recommended this place and said the clay pot rice is out of this world. So I decided to give it a try. It's in the SOMA area so I wasn't too sure because I've heard of this place. When we got there I looked at their menu outside...Vietnamese on the sign but menu has the usual chinese dishes... nothing special... actually nothing that I wanted to eat.

So we look on their menu... no clay pot? huh? oh it's a special on the wall. We ordered three clay pot rice and honestly I'm surprised it came out so quickly. If you've ordered clay pot rice before, it takes 15-20 minutes for one be done. I know how it's fast but let's get into the pot... chicken, mushroom, shrimp, and some thinly sliced chinese sausage(they charge $2 extra for more sausage which I didn't get but my friend did... and it's not that much more compared to mine).... the clay pot had the nice burnt rice on the bottom and just not enough rice! The sauce they used is just sugar, soy sauce, and just too much pepper. It's a sauce you would use for a catfish dish you would find at a vietnamese restaurant.

Conclusion.... not so sure why I wasn't impressed with the dish... yes it's sweet which always help with your appetite but maybe a little less pepper and more rice... oh the rice, since they used half the amount of rice for a usual clay pot rice, that's probably how they could cook it so fast. Will I come back... ummm not sure... I've had better clay pots at other places.

P.S. Please change out your sticky spoons and chop sticks or change them out.... and can you stop "unchained melody" and other slow music during my lunch hour..I almost fell asleep!

After being denied ramen in japantown and bun cha in TL because they don't open before 11am...we ended up in Chinatown.

This restaurant opens until late night..They have two fans above the door that will exhaust fumes from grilled meat...so if you are not hungry you will probably be after you smell it.

We had the pork chop rice and rice noodles. The imperials roll are wrapped using rice paper so it gives a nice crunch. Prices are cheap...food is great...I'll consider this a great hole in the wall if you want some good Vietnamese in Chinatown!

A mom and pop store for those who need their watches repaired... or if you just need a battery change. They charge about $8 to change your battery.. it's a bit more than changing out the battery yourself. Not bad if you don't have the tools... so come support a local shop!

Two tries was all it took for me to go somewhere else. I read other reviews that Bonnie is a good stylist but it didn't work out for me. The first time she cut my hair too short even though I told her the length... second time I told her to make sure it's not too short and to make it a certain style...I came out looking ridiculous...was bad enough that my friend couldn't stop laughing when we left.

It's a nice cozy spot, parking is hard, Bonnie is nice but I'm sorry... I found a place in a sunset that charges half and does a better job.

Hmmm....let me see if I can remember.

- walking the strip, refilling our glasses at each casino as needed.
- saw the Marc Jacobs store and I told my friends let's go in because I need a birthday gift for my girlfriend
- drink in hand, we walked into this tiny store. None of the bags stood out.. some were yellow, green... ack!!! found two bags....a black classic one that I bought without looking at the tag! $1400 he says... alright fine, ship it to me to in CA!
- the salesman that helped me had a sleeve so we were chatting about what it meant... he got it in Africa... something about the tree of life...very nice guy! oh and his female coworker... HOT HOT! haha

Next day I joked with the guys wondering what the heck were we thinking... going shopping when we were drunk! Oh and it really hit that I bought an expensive bag after i found the receipt in my wallet!

I gave my girl the bag and she had a big o smile! I can't believe she liked it so much.... I guess my drunken visit to Marc Jacobs was well worth it. I'll probably swing by in July when I'm back in Vegas. =)
