Possibly one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a doctor's office. Dr. Jamal has a very harsh, abrupt bedside manner. When asking her questions about the regime she was prescribing she would completely pause, kind of give me this cold look of annoyance, and then say "yes, I'll get to that." This woman beat me down into submission until I didn't want to ask any more questions from her.

I didn't get the feeling that this doctor cared one iota about her patients. Sure she has some cool high-tech tools (like digital prescriptions, and takes doctor's notes on an electronic tablet), but all the gadgets in the world cannot save this practice from Dr. Jamal's robotic, snooty attitude.

Oh my goodness! For some reason I have never gotten into Greek cuisine, but after one dinner here, consider me among the converted. This place made me think past feta cheese and gyros and opened up a world of delicate, delicious Greek delicacies.

Portions are surprisingly big -- after just two appetizers I was forcing myself to finish my entree.

The place is TINY, so get there early (even on a weeknight), because it fills up fast.

As I was eating my meal here I could feel my arteries clogging up with ever single bite. The spicy chicken sandwich was tasty, but it did taste a lot like a fresher version of the Burger King chicken sandwiches I loved in my childhood. A tad too heavy on the mayo, but a ton of food between that sandwich bun.

The hamburger was really tasty, with delicious beef, but again, my cardiologist was probably freaking out as I ate it.

But the vibe in the place was nice, the interiors done in a mid-century style. Cool furniture and cool people with good food for a bar.

Everything Frosted

As a cupcake lover, I was excited to try this small little shop in the heart of Chinatown. This has cupcake flavors you can't find anywhere else (green tea, jasmine tea, etc.). They kind of remind me of the cupcake equivalent of the nearby Chinatown Ice Cream Factory.

Yes, the specialty cupcakes run on the expensive side, at $2.50 a pop, but this is NYC kids, nothing should surprise you any more.

My favorite so far has been the green tea cupcake. Mine was nice and moist and the frosting wasn't loaded with teeth-tingling sugar (like Magnolia Bakery's). I'm happy to see this joint in the midst of Chinatown, adding a little variety to the bakery scene down there.

I'm still a Babycakes devotee, but when in the area, I'd definitely try out some of their other flavors.

I've been here twice, and I love the atmosphere -- cool vibe with a great setting. Servers are friendly and unpretentious. There are cool, surprising features like a cell phone charging station in some of the booths.

The appetizers are great, as are the sides. I've had the lamb burger twice -- it's a monster of a meal. If you order the burger, you really don't need to order anything else, it's SO much food, and the fries are delicious. Although many of my friends are in love w/ the lamb burger, I find it to be incredibly salty.

Would come here again if I had money to blow on the incredibly expensive entrees.

This place is a cool, hip watering hole with leather banquets and lots of tables and chairs for you and your friends to sit. I was there on a lovely Saturday night, and I appreciate that the bar was full, but it was civilized -- not jam-packed and impossible to navigate through the space.

In addition to the beautiful drinks, they serve food. Refined versions of pulled pork sliders w/ chips and mac 'n' cheese are recommended.

Lots of young, stylish folks sitting and sipping their fancy cocktails. For folks in their mid-20s and up who are tired of having drunk college kids or ridiculous uber-hipsters decked out in American Apparel spilling drinks on their shoes. Two thumbs up!

This place looks amazing, all white dining space with a see-through kitchen. A fantastic place to bring a date -- they will be impressed! The sushi is great by Brooklyn standards.

You get a free brick oven pizza when you order a drink here. That's totally amazing. The pizza is actually quite delicious -- you get a 10" personal pizza cut into four slices. It's the high-est quality free bar food ever.

This pizza is actually some of the best in the neighborhood -- and you cannot beat the price tag!

When I want a delicious burger, I immediately think of Shake Shack. Before I had one of these delectable pieces of culinary mastery, I used to think Corner Bistro had the best burgers in town. How little did I know.

The Shackburger is so scrumptious -- the beef tastes fresh and juicy, but not greasy. The fries are lovely and crispy -- also without being greasy. This place is the best and I love checking out the Shack cam to see how long the lines are outside the Madison Sq Park location.

(Here's a tip -- if you can wait until after 3, the line is usually a breeze.)

Now if we could only get a In-n-Out to open up in NYC, then Shake Shack would have some real competition in the delicious burger under $10 dollar department.

I have been visiting this sushi joint for years and I can say that it's hands down one of my most favorite places in downtown Manhattan to get sushi. The prices are fair and the quality of the sushi is fantastic. You can almost always get a table here in a reasonable amount of time.

I prefer this place to places like Takahashi simply because I like their roll selection better and the fact that the wait time is not a long.

Favorites are the shrimp tempura roll, "crunchy salad roll" (it's not always on the menu -- it was a special once and I fell in love with it, and they will still make it when I order it), and toro roll (when they have toro). Spicy rock shrimp tempura appetizer is a good approximation of the far more expensive rock shrimp tempura at Nobu (although Nobu's is slightly better).

The waitstaff is always extremely friendly and accommodating. I've recommended this place to many people and will continue to do so.
