I discovered this place thanks to Yelp extraordinaire Paula E. and it fantastic. They're open late so if you just got out of a Club or bar and need to sober up It's a nice change of scenery all from the pizza places that are littered up and down South Beach. At 5 bucks and change for a big beef burrito it's definitely cheap and satisfying. ( No SoBe tourist prices here! Celebrate!) The burrito I got was just one of over 20 or so menu options, the place is small but the service is quick and you leave going home feeling nice!

Latin Burger

In my quest to find the perfect burger I stalked Latin Burger for a while on Twitter to find their nearest location. Luckily after only a few days of waiting they were in my Midtown neighborhood and I stopped in for a bite. Food Network chef Ingrid Hoffman created Latin Burger and is the creator and you can find the recipe of the burgers on Food Network's website. I only had the chance to try the burger and it was a nice filling burger. All burgers come with caramelized onions and jalapeno relish and red pepper Mayonnaise. This gives the burgers a spicy taste. I wasn't saying thinking it was the best burger ever but it's a nice contender when compared to everything I've had before
I'm hoping to come back one day to try the tacos.

Target

This Target gets such a large chunk of my pay check it's not even funny. But I'm okay with that, because if I ever need something. This place more than likely has it. Returns are so stupidly easy. They never hassle you or give you a hard time. Most times they won't even ask you why you are returning it. Just have your receipt and you'll be in and out. No receipt? No problem. As long as you paid with a credit card you can come back here, swipe that same card and they'll look up the last purchases you made.

They have a tiny little food stand inside and Starbucks. When I know I want to take my sweet time inside, I grab some coffee and then go on my way. Whomever manages this place does a great job because the lanes are always clean and never messy, that's usually hard to find in the clothing department.

Also parking is simplified with the with garage. No having to run to your car in the rain. The extra large elevators can fit your cart and you just take it to your car. First hour of parking is free and then only $1 for every hour after that. Just don't lose your ticket or you'll pay the maximum rate!

I'm not sure why Yelp has gotten such a bad impression of this place. My friends and I were reading the Yelp reviews on our phones and decided to give it a try anyway and had a really nice time here.  We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon half way in our bike ride through Coconut Grove. The patio furniture outside was simple and very relaxing to sit on. We ordered a round of Warsteiner beer and they came by in huge mugs for only $5 and change. The food menu is simple with only a handful of items. In fact I'm pretty sure I can recall them all. They have wings, burgers, a prime steak and cheese pizza. Having only a few items is okay as long as you do those meals good! The burger was big and tasty and I'm glad it wasn't one of those that fall apart like other big burgers. The service was excellent and the manager even came by to greet us and make sure we were enjoying ourselves.

This was an enjoyable place that we just happen to find and I can see it getting overlooked by the other bigger and fancier places on the Grove. To all those Yelpers who had a bad time, try this place again.

At the time of writing this review the store has only been open for about two weeks. For bike enthusiast in downtown and midtown, our prayers have been answered with the opening of this new bike shop. They sell mostly Specialized bikes and they are absolutely beautiful. I came in here looking for clipless pedals and shoes and was surprised to see the prices are very competitive against online stores. Cecilia helped me out and she stayed and went through the trouble of finding the right shoes. My new clipless pedals were then installed for free on my bike by one of the mechanics and they showed me how the proper way to clip in and out.

They are just starting out so some merchandise was still in boxes but they have really good potential to be a top of the line store. They are the nicest, nonpretentious people  with a love for bike riding. Only reason why I wouldn't shop here again is only if they don't sell something specific that I'm looking for.

Marshall's

Every time I come to the Midtown Mall I always go inside this Marshall's and take a peak. The Men's department is actually fairly small but they have a ton of clothes on those racks. I usually have to dig around before I find a handsome Calvin Kline or Perry Ellis shirt. Most of the time you might be disappointed because Men's clothes that get sent to Marshall's are usually Large, XL or XXL so to get fitting clothes means you got to work for it. But once you find something you like and your size, it feels great.
This store has been an enabler to my Puma clothing and shoe addiction so I come here every so often to see what the new merchandise looks like. Good quality workout clothes can also be found here and I recommend anyone trying to find Nike, Adidas brand clothes to come here because the prices are great.

SIX STARS!

Tons of new friends and yelpers made! We hit South Miami and we hit it hard. Jessica C. taught us the perfect way to do a sake bomb while also creating a mess at the table! All for a good cause. That would just be the beginning of a glorious night.

Was my tricorn hat a pirate hat or Paul Revere's? The Yelpers are coming! The Yelpers are coming!

RA Sushi Bar Restaurant

Hitting this place up on a Friday night as happy hour is about to end is probably not the best idea. You're going to find that this place is very popular with the locals so give your self some time and come with an reservation. Paula E. was clever enough to sneak in to a reserved table and get us going. Though the place was packed the service was still good. All the food we ordered was exquisite and everything has great presentation. Makes you just want to stare and admire until you remember it's delicious sushi and want to eat it!

My biggest gripe is that RA does get very crowded and people start to hover over you if you're sitting at a table near the bar. "Yes, that chair is taken, no you may not have it"  There is also many things on the happy hour menu that are excluded and at regular price so make sure you're server explains to you what is on special. I've only had this place once but I'm wanting to come back at dinner time to try out some other things off the menu.

Havana Harry's

Went here with Mom and Dad for their marriage anniversary. I didn't want to go anywhere risky since my father is a picking eater. So they're Cuban so just took them to a Cuban restaurant I hadn't been to before. No complains about the service here! i read other reviews by my friends that complained about the slow service, non whatsoever for me. Food came very quickly and all our orders were right.

I had the chicken with BBQ guava sauce. It was great and even better the next day as left overs. The place was clean and not very busy on a Saturday night so no need for reservations.

Whole Foods Market

Categories: Grocery, Health Markets

4 star rating
 1/20/2010
I recently went for the first time to Whole Foods and this review is basically my first and only experience shopping with them. I've gone down Alton Road and noticed the store and finally decided to give it a try.  I'm not sure if I buy the whole "organic is healthier". I was simply there to pick up and try a jar of Nayonaise, a healthier substitute to regular mayo and in the end decided to do the rest of my shopping.

Firstly, it seems like right after 5pm on a weekday, Whole Foods is packed with people that have just left work and are picking up something fresh to make dinner with that night. The parking lot is not small but it's not huge either and when I was leaving, there were cars hunting for spaces.  Thankfully, the store is aware of this and has an employee directing traffic.

And that's something that stood out BIG in Whole Foods, the attention to customer service and the desire to get you on your way as pleasantly as possible. In every aisle, there was some employee working the lane. Twice employees asked me if I needed assistance. That would have never happened at a Publix. I would have to be hunt down someone to ask where something was at.

The most overwhelming and admittedly intimidating thing about shopping at Whole Foods for the first time was that the brands that I'm used to, where no where to be found. I was shocked but not surprised. Forget about Kraft, Kellogg's and Nestle. You're not in Winn-Dixie anymore, Dorothy! You're here because you want to buy organic! I was definitely slower to do shopping since I wasn't sure about any product. They carry a lot of local grown and created I was also price conscious. I already knew going in that people joke Whole Foods really is called "Whole Paycheck Foods" because it's a bit pricier than shopping nonorganic. But Whole Foods does have a line of generic brand items called "365" that should make you and your wallet happy.

You really need to give it to Whole Foods for having a stocked store of fresh produce. Grains, nuts and oats can be scooped and bagged similarly to those candy stores you used to go to as a kid.  There's A TON of different Cheeses, rare, imported beers like Lindeman's Lambic and Delirium Tremens. There's fresh seafood, poultry and beef towards the back and some meats were on sales that made them comparable to regular nonorganic at a local grocery store.
There's another whole section of fresh hot soups and baked goods that I didn't even get a chance to spend much time in. I noticed this whole part of the store and area outside where people were hanging out. Yeah, hanging out at a grocery store on laptops with free wifi I'm guessing.
In all, Whole Foods gets 4 stars for amazing customer service, the freshest food possible ranging from produce, baked goods and meats and providing a competing a generic brand for those that want to take the organic food route but not entirely the price one.
