we were here on a birthday treat on a wednesday; i had my sangria and had totally enjoyed the appetizers that included calamari, broccolli rabe, shrimps. and for the entrees, following the recommendation of the waiter, we had something like a paella with yellow rice and mixed seafood and a huge platter of grilled pork, fried potatoes, and other meat. we also had creme brulee and their version of lemon custard. the dinner was a feast, so to speak. the place is pretty unassuming and parking I think is mainly on streetside (where we managed to park our car). but it's worth the trip from our place in staten island, and worth another visit with family and friends in due time.

2 of my friends and myself were here one late evening for snacks after hours of dancing. i noticed how the place's got customers showing up almost all the time we were here; most would just order to go. we had a grand time having a conversation and even had a chance to chat with someone who's an executive producer for PBS and talked about his work. i had a slice of a thick pizza (i couldn't recall the name now) but I knew it tasted good. one of my friends had a vegetarian pizza, which he requested to be served very hot. the place is tiny (as what can be expected in most food places in this area) but i like the decors it has on its walls.

my friend and myself were here at past 10pm, and I had their 'Three Amigos Burger.' With 3 little burgers served in fresh buns, I thought it was great! I had a Corona with it as I chatted with my friend; few customers were around at that time of the evening. We could have ordered fries but we forgot all about it. The place's basically a burger joint with some frills here and there. Service's just OK. I'll probably be back at a time when it's crowded so I'll have a different experience.

i happened to come here because i missed the train going to my place in Stapleton; i decided that it's better to get something to eat instead of spending time waiting for the next train to come during a weekday rush hour period. what surprised me was seeing a white young woman at the counter getting customers' orders and instructing the cooks on what to prepare next. i told her about my observation; she & her male friend (who's also white) were amused. i don't know why they don't have the usual Chinese-looking woman I would see in most neighborhood Chinese food places but it's refreshing to see the unusual here. I think it's because the neighborhood's primarily white (I could be wrong LOL). anyway, the chicken chow mein that i ordered was quickly prepared by one of the two Chinese-looking cooks. it didn't have noodles & instead used bean sprouts; taste's not bad as I munched on it while on the train on my way home.

our group of 7 came here after our hike to the nearby Mt Taurus; we actually had to wait in line for at least 10 minutes before we could be given a table that late Sunday afternoon. you can actually just get inside the building to quickly get drinks and food, but you may probably miss a lot by not getting a table inn the outdoor area that has colorful lawn umbrellas on each table. the train would pass by during the whole period of our meal in this place but it felt like it was all part of the dining experience; you'd have a sense that you're somewhat being pulled by the power exerted by each passing train. i settled for portabello sandwich and a mug of dark beer, which became perfect combination to stave off the hunger that i was having then after finishing that hike. my friends got themselves different kinds of burgers and beers, and we had a great conversation that lasted for over an hour, until we realized it was getting chilly and it's time to head off again to the city. i'll certainly be back here one of these days again, even if the service is kinda slow (which was understandable, mainly because they had so many customers that time).

i've been here so many times because of my online business. this is so far the only post office that you can go to especially if you have to mail packages up to 9pm most nights (I think they have different schedules on Sundays and Holidays). of course, you will still have to line up if you want person-to-person service. But what makes this place very interesting is it's design & architecture; you seldom see such types of buildings these days that are this huge (i've seen similar buildings in DC, and even back in Manila, Philippines). If you've got visitors from other places and you're giving them a city tour, make sure you include a side trip to this building or even just close to it. you'll have an elegant space to get yourselves into pictures worth noting again and again. and it's also one of the best places where you'd see real, everyday people who are not just around to make a show of themselves in NYC LOL

I've come to the post office in this quaint, clean town along the Hudson River for at least 6 times when I'd do part-time gigs up here. The Post Office's tiny but clean. And service's fast and friendly. On most occasions, I didn't really have to fall in line long enough to be served, which is unlike most post offices I've been to. The location's almost (or probably next) close to an old movie theater that looks well preserved outside. And along the streets, I'd be pleased seeing interesting old buildings, small parks, and alleyways that seemed to be worth discovering more closely.

I was here with a friend whom I've helped schlepping heavy stuff to another's friend's apartment. we were growing hungry so we decided to have a kinda-late lunch here, i had beef lasagna from their lunch special, which i found OK and flavorful. the salad's not bad, either. i also had coffee, which as usual was good (I love coffee, anytime!). i don't recall what my friend had but we made plans to meet up again for another lunch out next week (probably, it's because we prefer huge servings when it comes to our meals LOL). the place looked clean & pleasant, with TV's for everyone to check every now and then. And their bathroom's at the basement; the men's bathroom liquid handsoap needed to be replaced.. service was OK; i noticed a number of regular customers who showed up, were already around when we came and who seemed to linger longer than new customers like us.

was here with 2 other friends, one of whom is a vegan and highly recommended this place, which is among his favorite food places in the city. i enjoyed their version of pad thai chicken, which was served in a rather large odd-shaped ceramic white bowl that reminded me of Noah's ark. being someone who loves to eat anything served before me,  i managed to finish the huge serving that Tuesday late evening after square dancing with my friends who joined me to stave off some hunger. it doesn't that japanese to me, honestly. and it wasn't crowded at that time; most customers were seated in (what looked to me as) the extension area that's enclosed in clear glass so everyone could view what's going on outside. service was OK; i'll probably be back soon.

I've been here so often, most especially after coming from the subway in the basement. this is the duane reade branch where I saw a guy casually stealing an item he wanted from racks and just went through the cashiers and the guard who was trying to run after him. the ladies, who were mostly indians I recall now, were in chorus trying to call his attention. but he soon got lost in the crowd, and I told myself "that was easy!"
