I moved into the area temporarily and the good food options are just dismal. I was happy to discover this little market in the Weeksville space.

They buy produce from local farmers and sell it along with whatever they grow in their garden.

They sell Red Jacket Orchards fruit primarily, which I'm happy about because their juices are amazing.

I've been going for a few weeks now and the options change depending on what customers ask for and what sells. I've been able to get blueberries, eggs, plums, scallions, Cippolini onions, kale, and zucchini.

I'm looking forward to peaches.

They also take EBT, which is incredibly helpful.

I like going to this hardware store. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They never condescend and that's appreciated. If they don't have something in stock, they're happy to order it for you. They even offer a Senior discount.

The Bush Doctor

It took me a year to step foot inside this place. Why? It's called The Bush Doctor!  (Google it) And, their mascot is absolutely FRIGHTENING. It is such a turnoff.

Nothing about going to a "bush doctor" for fresh juice/smoothies, or that weird bug/alien/thing in a doctor's coat makes me think fresh juice/smoothies. The whole thing makes me think it's a front for a weed spot.

Seriously - I don't know how they've managed to stay open this long.

I purchased a drink - I forget the name. It was some kind of ginger, Chinese herb tonic concoction. Eh.

Glad I own a Vita-Mix.

Inside, they can't decide if they're a juice bar, jewelry store, mini bodega. A lot of mom & pop stores are becoming "variety" stores, but if I'm going to a juice bar, I want juice. Sandwiches and pastries are fine, but the rest of the store screams MESS! Show owner comment »

I love the courage the owners have in bringing a farm to table concept to Bed-Stuy - twice. It's affirming the work I'm doing in the neighborhood to connect residents with REAL food.

I went there for my birthday. My friends and I had the barbecued shrimp, mushrooms (over grits), trout(?), kale, beef cheeks, two soups, and dessert. The meal was satisfying.

The bill wasn't too bad for the four of us, either.

I was there on a Wednesday and it was full. They've built a following from the Peaches on Lewis and Smoke Joint in Ft. Greene. They are waiting for their liquor license. After that, it might be hard to get a seat.

I have had three different instructors here, Mr. Miller, Mr. Brown, and someone else. They come off like stern fathers - you get a little frustrated, but you appreciate them later. They have a lot of patience and years of driving experience.

They've also been in the neighborhood for years.

They offer that BS 5hr class as well.

If you can get past the rinky dink office, it's worth the money. They're always on time to pick you up, and the cars are in good shape.

I have to admit that failing the road test was all my fault.

    SweetHome Yoga is situated on the ground floor of a Bed-Stuy brownstone. The energy there is perfect for yoga classes.

    Right now, the classes are not well attended, so you may end up with your own private session.

Golden Bridge Yoga NYC

Kundalini Yoga does not seem to be the Yoga of choice for New Yorkers with Vinyasa and Bikram as the seemingly top two. But as Yoga is a whole person experience, one's practice is not complete without serious pranayam and meditation.

That said, everyone should try Kundalini Yoga at least once. If you don't like it, come back in a year or two; you'll be surprised.

Golden Bridge has amazing energy. Those brick walls and wood floors are very grounding and the teachers are on point.

Take advantage of the new student specials to really immerse yourself in the practice.

(Serious) Vinyasa practitioners will find this  a complement to their practice
