Grand Buffet

I returned for the last time to the Grand Barffet last night and I'm still grossed out. It's probably fine if you like sushi, oysters on the half shell and crab legs, (none of which I had) but the rest is pretty dreadfull. Perhaps they should stick with the seafood and chinese food and forget the italian and american cuisine. This pizza is made from pre-made crusts and is a disappointment. I also had a skewer of hunks of mystery meat that I hoped was pork.  There is a vast array of fried items, the crab rangoon was overstuffed with a stuffing that just seemed to lack the thrill of others I have had.  There seems to be the same bland seafood stuffing in the clam shells and in the stuffed mushrooms floating in a pan of grease.  The fried rice was grasey is it comes.  For some relief I took some gummy white rice but there was no butter available to put on it. I did actually like the seafood casserole, should have stuck with that.  Somehow the scallops floating in grease (I avoided the shrimp, hate shrimp) seemed to peculiarly lack all flavor.  I looked around for a vegetable dish and all there was was unidentifiable chinese cabbagy things and string beans in grease. There was a salad bar but it had some perhaps mayonnaise smeared fruit, hunks of melons, and canned  peaches and pears among the iceberg lettuce and wedges of underripe tomatoes.  There was also some kind Klingon dish of black strips of something (that, thankfully, looked dead at least) that may have been a been a dessert or a salad item. There was also some kind of giant bug salad coated in what looked like a greasy red sauce. I decided I would at least try some pudding or jello but there was no whipped cream to go on top, so it wasn't worth it. The little pastries are tolerable, if unremarkable. There is also a bin of ice cream but nothing to put on it either.  I ordered a bottle of beer for $4.50  (no draft beer.)  They probably stay in existence because of the rollicking karaoke bar and the high beer prices.  Meh. next morning and still feel kind of sick and fat. Wonder how much of that stuff was loaded with trans fats?
Suggestions: get rid of the italian and american cuisine, try to lighten up on the grease, improve the recipes for flavor, add more vegetable dishes,  add a lower priced draft beer choice.

This is where you go to get real shoes and real service like in the olden days. You can go all over DSW Warehouse and Famous Names and you won't find shoes at a better price for the quality and service.

I've been here a number of times now because I have friends that like to go.  I gave it three stars based on two things. 1. Beer. Where else can you get beer at the movies?  That's the only reason I go. 2. The seating. I saw some complaints here but it really is nice in my opinion, big comfey chairs rather than tiny cramped theater seats. As for the rest?
The food.. Fattening and unhealthy and even when that's what you want it's just not that good. I had the Priates of The Carribean Quesadilla, and it seemed doughey and blah. The waffle fries were slightly overdone, and I wonder if they have trans fats?  hm. Onion rings were good.. but again, trans fats?  I wish they had more vegetables (What do they think this is, the south?) . The salads are okay.. but not that great, I wish they just had more vegetables, less fried items. And the popcorn is still overpriced like in any theater. The cost for the ticket is the same as at any theater.
Watch out when it's busy.. you could be waitnig a loooong time for your drinks and food. never go there too hungry or thirsty.  Also, there was no sound for the first five to ten minutes of the film, yet they didn't restart it after they fixed the problem.
I think next time I'll just skip the food and get nothing but beer. Who needs sound when there's beer.
