This review is only for the downstairs bar. The place was great. We had a party of about 10 and the bartenders were awesome. They made great drinks, great shots, and poured ice cold brews...There was a duo playing irish music and everyone had a great time. The only thing i'd point out in case McGuirk's is listening is that they should have servers downstairs on a Friday night. The bartenders did a great job but for a party of 10 to be going up all night to the bar for drinks is a bit much...Great job all around though.

I think this place is going through an identity crisis. the food was ok all around. The kids burger was the biggest burger I'd ever seen and had a unique shape which leads me to believe it was frozen and not home-made. the kids steak was ok, just a small sirloin. I had some steak with shrimp on it which was just fine, I'm not sure what everyone else had but nobody was overly excited. The room was very very hot and no air was flowing through the vents though the server insisted the air was on. The beer was warm, ice-water was strangely lacking in ice, the mixed drinks I'm told were too strong, though the corn fritters were good which is basically all I hear about. I guess they are great at serving corn fritters and not that great at finishing the rest of the meal. For a local place that has such history, they need to make a better effort and try and re-invent themselves....

Nothing spectacular but we go every time we're at York. The service is great and though it's a real small place the turn-over seems to be quick and we've never really had to wait too long. No complaints...we'll continue to make this our breakfast place when we visit Short Sands.

I guess as far as bars go, there aren't too many at Hampton so this was ok. We sat on the roof deck and had a lobster roll, fried calamari, and clam chowder. There were no tentacles in the calamari which is my favorite part and the lobster roll was the size of a dinner roll that you would normally see stuffed with egg salad. The clam chowder was fine, nothing special. My guess is this place does not really try and emphasize gourmet cuisine. Just alright I guess....I've been a few times which must be an indication that they are doing something right. Just don't expect too much. It's a place to grab some food, drinks, and people watch...

Not a short walk to the boardwalk even though their website says it is. If you are looking for a place to stay but don't have an interest in the boardwalk or any amenities this is a fine option. the room was clean though it definitely smelled like people had been smoking in there. The hotel is located way down past the strip are a ways away for mostly everything. The TV in our room didn't work either and the night desk person really didn't seem to care and didn't feel it was important to do anything about it...

Best place in Leominster to get your meat on...The beef or chicken skewers are great for grilling with peppers and onions and they have every kind of steak you could ask for. They also do deli meats, have lots of rubs and marinades, and some of the basics like milk, fresh bread, potato/pasta salad...Don't even think of having a BBQ without stopping at Central St Meats.

Great location at Hampton Beach. We stayed in Room 4 which was very clean, two beds, small bathroom and at our request they brought in a small refrigerator for our two night stay. The room was $79/night (midweek rate). Right in the middle of the strip with free parking across the street in the main lot. The staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel though as I mentioned the rooms are small (at least Room 4 was small) but how much time do you spend in the hotel anyways. One thing I might consider is upgrading to one of the rooms out front with the balconies for people watching...

Fried seafood done right....what more can I say? we got the fried clam strips, fried scallops, and chicken fingers. all was good. Big portions, not soggy when I got home which is important with takeout seafood, and everything was cooked real well. Not too many places like this around anymore...didn't spend too much time looking over the menu so can't say too much about anything else but I always hear good stuff about this place.

Had a large pizza and a Caesar salad with the wife and kids. The caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had as was the pizza. The pepperoni are the biggest I've seen...they're the size of bologna slices. They have a really great menu and this was the second time I'd been there and it's definitely a must visit lunch spot at Short Sands.

How are you a restaurant in Maine and not know how to serve a LOBSTaH ROLL???

I stopped with my family for lunch this past weekend. I've been there a few times in the past and usually have a good time. I ordered the lobster roll and a 1/2 dozen oysters. The server brought the oysters out on a warm plate and like the plate, the oysters were room temperature. If you're going to serve oysters get some shaved ice...This is pretty basic stuff. Oysters are served COLD, not room temperature.

Next came the lobster roll which was lobster meat on a hamburg bun (they call it a brioche roll to be fancy but I would have been happier with an actual hot dog bun). This is how lobster rolls are supposed to be served. The portion was fine and it was mainly claw meat which is good but again, the plate came out almost too hot to handle. How do you serve a lobster roll on a hot plate???

Dear Inn on the Blue management,

Take some of your plates and put them in a cooler so if you are going to serve a lobster roll you can pull out an ice-cold plate to serve it on....

Then invest in a couple bags of shaved ice and keep your oysters submerged in it until they are served. After an order comes in, open the oysters and arrange them on a COLD plate of shaved ice with appropriate garnish.
