We've been here twice for lunch and it's a welcome addition to the area.

Love the emphasis on local/farm fresh and the space itself is wonderful.

Would love to see the lunch menu a little broader (it's pretty much raw bar, chowder, burger) and the service pick it up a notch (little flighty and disorganized but otherwise friendly). If even the latter happened, that would immediately boost it a star.

THe kitchen is on top of their game here -- serving up some fresh, local twists on American cuisine. But the service is on a different planet entirely.

It took nearly 10 minutes before the server returned with our drink order and even longer for her to pickup the check. Not that we were in a hurry, but an appetizer and sandwich somehow turned into a 2-hour affair.

We'll definitely return for dinner, but unless the service sees a drastic improvement, it will be the last time, despite how good the food is.

The Broken Yolk is a solid option those looking for a New London breakfast place with character (and characters). This cozy, 4-boothed hole-in-the-wall down the street from Mitchell College cooks up (mostly) delicious daily specials served with an attitude.

The chef/co-owner is always having a blast -greeting customers young and old while she slings hash, biscuits 'n' gravy, and other breakfast staples -- occasionally firing tiny marshmallows at customers. She solicits feedback and seeks to improve.

BUT, service can make or break a dining experience, and service here, like the yolk, is broken. A good server could easily handle the entire counter and 4 tables alone, but somehow 3 servers can't manage to make this an enjoyable experience.  We've been here twice and each time the service was slow, inattentive, and had little attention to detail. We waited for nearly 10 minutes just to get a cup of coffee, our orders were filled incorrectly, and the servers never checked back to see if everything was alright, much less top off our joe.

As good as the food is, the service is downright dreadful.

Connecticut is notorious for being a craft beer blackhole, but this store has one of the better selections I've seen in the state.

One of my goto places in Providence. Always fresh, local options for lunch and dinner.

Definitely a hidden gem. The burgers are very good and could only be improved by asking customers their preferred temperature. I generally get my burger medium rare and these were more like medium well. Still the beef is good quality and there are some interesting options.

Beer-wise they know what they are doing here. You could show up one week and be exposed to a completely different beer lineup than the previous week.

Foodwise, it's just alright for me, dawg. Some solid pub options, but nothing to write home about.

Service is friendly and attentive.

Hash is dyno-mite. Fun place to grab a Blood Mary and brunch.

Southwestern RI/Southeastern CT was sorely in need of a place like this and Malted Barley delivers. Friendly staff, GREAT selection of draft beers, and the pretzels aren't bad either. We went on a Saturday after 3 and the place was quickly full by 5.

Great little beer bar downtown. Nice selection of local brews and ciders.
