I needed better access to my US funds and this was the answer. The branch isn't too big and isn't too busy (at lease when I was there - mid week during the day).

I opened a checking (us spelling!) account, got a check card, free cheques (Canadian spelling!) and a $150 bonus on top of that!

A week later, I got a personalized note in the mail from the bank manager thanking me for opening an account.

Great customer service!

Okay, I really should be deducting stars because I feel unwell after my visits - probably because the portions are so big! However, I'll add a star because sometimes gluttony is good! ;^p

In four visits, I've had three burritos and a vegan donut! All were awesome and almost more food than I could handle.

On my most recent visit, I had the breakfast burrito - a few hours after I ate breakfast. It was huge and equally as tasty. Photo here...

This place falls into the 'good value' and 'good for you' categories!

Burritos are aways good for you, but the burrito that I ordered (TVP and guac) was godzilla-sized! I thought I was going to explode after eating it. I had to eat it all because it was full of fresh and delicious fillings.

Not my usual burrito, but the best I've had in Toronto in the many years that I lived and visited. I'll be back in the future to try the donuts and the breakfast burritos!

This place might not appeal to most Yelpers because most of the lighting fixtures sold here costs about the price of a pair of Prada shoes.

However, this place has many lights that are not available in the average lighting shops. If you like fine/European design, this place might have what you're looking for. They sell higher end (and higher quality) lighting that might be sometimes difficult to find if you're looking for something specific.

My first visit here was in 2001 when I was renovating my apartment. My most recent visit was ten years later when I was renovating my apartment (again) and broke the glass fixture for the original fixture that I bought in 2001.

When I called, I was over-joyed to find out that they still had the same fixture and even parts for it! You get what you pay for!

Health-y food in the north end!

I was glad to find this place when i was staying with my brother and his family in the north end of the city.

The place had almost everything I was looking for at a reasonable price and in a fairly accessible location (with a car). The only thing was limited parking but I went on a Saturday afternoon so it was commuter chaos! I should know better, but I was desperate for vegan/organic food! lol

It was pretty average pizza. Not hot, not cold, not fresh, but good. I think the slice I had was sitting out for a while because I came at a low-traffic time during a weekday in the middle of the afternoon. However, I was hungry so it was pretty well devoured quickly.

I'm sure it would be better after a few beers in the evening! ;^)

A great idea, but a bit too commercial for my tastes - pun intended.

I had a vegan sandwich and soup. It was good, but a bit too much takeout for me - the soup was served in a paper container and the sandwich came on paper.

For a 'sustainable diner', I thought they had too much disposable paper and takeout containers. Works for yuppies and hipsters but not really for the environment.

For the name, "Homegrown, Sustainable Sandwich Shop", I though I would have seen more metal utensils and washable plates and bowls rather than compostable, recyclable, blah, blah blah.

Three stars, but I deducted a star for not being true to their name.

The outdoor rooftop patio is a great place to get away from the hectic street!

I was here for happy hour. They had some great beers and good food for a reasonable price!

When I saw photos of the food and found out that they are the same proprietors as Hot Beans, I knew I had to go!

Like most, this was my first visit. For my friend who accompanied me, it was her second visit.

We started with the fries supremacy with the secret sauce. They were amazing - the fries were thin and crispy - think hickory sticks - with the tangy vegan sour cream on top. how could one not enjoy the deep fried goodness?

I had the unchicken and waffles. I'm not usually a fan of sweet things, but the maple syrup wasn't overbearing and was a good addition to the 'chicken'. It had a good consistency - not rubber - and the maple syrup added to the taste of the relatively tasteless - seitan. Probably not much different than real chicken - which I can't really remember the taste. It reminded me of my days in Arkansas eating chicken fried chicken (which should be on their menu!). My friend had the garbanzo bean salad. It reminded me of potato salad - which I'm a big fan of.

This place is basically southern style comfort food with a vegan twist. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town next!

I gave Chau VeggiExpress five stars because I was so excited to find a vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant! This was the first time I've had pho in over ten years - before I became vegetarian!

The place looked pretty new, it was clean, organized and the menu was well displayed. Not your average Vietnamese restau! The food was awesome too! I had spring rolls and, of course, pho!

I'll be back for sure!

Security is weak at the bus terminal. Once a jewel, it now seems like a crumbling rock. They actually made me check a small screwdriver that I had in my bag. If I got on the bus at a stop that did not originate at the bus terminal then I would have gotten on with it.

They should get rid of the rent-a-cops and  spend the money where it is really needed - like cleaning the stinky washrooms.

This is usually my gateway to the real world when I need to escape from my dream-like life in Whistler. I probably go through here 20-30 times per year.

It's an cool looking building from the outside; it's also cool on the inside. The men's room is smelly, but it's a train/bus station after all. It could use some work/repairs. The terrazzo floors are awesome, but there's a giant crack in it the length of the San Andreas fault. Hmm...maybe it is the San Andreas fault - don't fall in! Considering this is many people's introduction to Vancouver, it could use some updating.

There's a smelly McDs in the corner - but it's not as cool as the one on Queen West in Toronto (see my other review). There's a newstand/snack shop that's clean and well stocked - a bit on the pricey side, but good to know it's there. There's also a gift shop and a sushi/lunch shop that I've never visited. My option is the Subway sandwich shop across the street.

It's also the gateway to my dreams when I need to go back to Whistler. ;^)
