NOTE: They don't take credit/debit cards for lunch.
I hear there is a long line during lunchtime, but when I was there around 5pm, I was the only person at the counter. Nice friendly service.
What I ordered:
-Vegetable biryani with raita
-Lamb kati kabab (this was very tender and spiced)
-Vegetable samosas
-Gulab jamun
This last item, I have to say I've had them before many times at restaurants and markets and this is the first time I've had gulab jamun and went "Oh, THIS is what it's suppossed to taste like."
Cannot wait to have the opportunity to sample more of their menu items.

Excellent service, delicious fresh bread brought to your table to select from 3 different kinds.
Great experience.

Authentic, delicious and inexpensive.
I'm from Tijuana and I would buy their empanadas and take them home to my mom, they're that good.
They also have OK rice pudding, jericallas and flan.
The bolillos or birotes are not very good. The ones I loved as a kid were crusty, and very chewy inside. Theirs are too light and not very flavorful.
So, I recommend sticking to the pan dulce.

Only thing I don't like are the desserts, but this is not a place for flan or rice pudding. Have a tall horchata or jamaice drink and get your sugar fix that way.

This is exactly the kind of food my mom cooks. I can't get down to Tijuana very often, so this fills the homemade cooking void.
Excellent tortitas de camaron (shimp patties with cactus), chiles rellenos (they use great cheese, their quesadillas are wonderful) and things that you never find in a typical inexpensive Mexican food place, like tongue, tinga, caldo de res and chile con puerco that is incredibly spicy.
They also offer mild dishes and non-scary items for the less adventurous, like carnitas.
They will offer to let you try anything first, although not everyone speaks English.
The food is set on steamtables, but for this sort of stuff it works, no problem.
Breakfast items are available and some are made to order.

Funny enough, what keeps me coming here is not the fish tacos, which I find too greasy because they're double fried, but the other tacos. Guisados on soft corn tortillas is pretty authentic. Excellent black beans and rice. Good salsas.
The place was crazy busy last time I was there for lunch, so for the next few weeks I recommend going early or be ready to stand in line.

Wow, I didn't write a review before? Weird, because this has been a long time favorite. Maybe because I see the owner there all the time, the place has never disappointed.
A lot of the tacos here are guisado style and served on soft corn tortillas, so for me that's more of a home taste than going to your typical San Diego taco shop. Also, they're double the price you would pay in other places. So far for me it's been worth it.
Go for the guisado style tacos. Guisado sort of means stew, so you will get meat in some kind of sauce.
Good beans and rice served with many of the dishes, great salsa bar (although the tiny, if cute, containers are inadequate) and crispy, fresh chips.
If you don't want tacos I suggest the washanware chicken-tortilla soup. Also one that has never disappointed.

Must mention this place takes longer than other places to serve our orders, but oh, it is so worth it!

Beautiful place in an unexpected corner of North Park, with a smallish menu of good sandwiches, salads and omelettes. If you have a bit of time I recomend the Mr. Crunchy, a tasty cheese and ham sandwich that is covered in cheese and then baked. It looks as good as it tastes.

I've had their pesto ravioli several times and enjoyed it very much. I want to take out the office to this place. Portions are regular size, not humongous, so take care if you're very hungry to get extra.
Lovely couple runs the place.
