Rocking Wok Taiwanese Cuisine

I went there with a big group (20) and shared many dishes include Taiwanese people. I felt some dishes were OK but some dishes were a little strange. Especially, squid omelet has a small amount of squid inside and their dim sum was disappointed.

Compare to real Taiwanese restaurants in Taiwan, I will put 2 stars but it was OK in Seattle area. So, I want to put 2.5 stars.

I love their Kurobuta dish which had Kurobuta, mushed potatoes, pears and asparagus. so, I could enjoy several dish in one plate.

By the way, "Kurobuta" is Japanese (Berkshire pig). Spanish food and Japanese food is similar. Their Kurobuta dish with Spanish is awesome for my Japanese tongue!

One of my friends ate crab pasta and we shared ravioli tapas dish and they were delicious too. I would like to try Paella but I might order the kurobuta again :p

Their waffle cone and ice cream is very delicious! We ordered a bergamot oil sundae (Sam's sundae) with the cone on top because I really wanted the fresh waffle.

The second time, I ordered Salted caramel ice cream and it was good too. Usually, I want something salty and sweet after drinking alcohol.

Their menu is unusual and seasonal. I can repeat this shop even in winter!!

I'll visit the place again. I haven't tried Ramen in U.S. so far because I was expecting it must be bad compare to Japanese ramen quality but I wasn't disappointed at all. The order style is Japanese because you can choose the firmness of noodle and thickness of broth.

I ordered Tonkotsu and extra toppings (Pork, Seaweed, Ajitsuke-tamago...etc) with extra pork fat (Kotteri) and normal firmness of noodle. I liked their broth and pork. However, their noodle is thin but I like a little thicker. I will try to order thicker noodle with super extra pork fat (Cho-kotteri) next time.

The place is tiny, so, please eat and leave soon after you finish your ramen. That's really Japanese style in ramen restaurant ;)

Mashiko Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar

I don't know why this place is popular. I was really disappointed by their tsukemono and fried crab dishes because the tsukemono was Takuwan, Fukujin-zuke or Yama-gobo which I would not specially order in Izakaya and their fried crabs were only 5 pieces which we usually get a pile of for the same price in Japan. (Shinjirarenai!!)

This restaurant was full of non-Japanese customers. Anyway, I felt all the other dishes we ordered were strange too.

I won't recommend this place to my Japanese friends.

We went there at lunch time. I love their Mussels!! We ordered French fries and Foie Gras and they were delicious too. We ordered the full size of mussels dish and I could not stop my fingers though I usually order half size of U.S. size dishes.

I would like to come back to this place when I visit D.C. again.

I am missing Izakaya in U.S. but I feel I went back to Japan in Issian. I like their Tsukune, Tako-no-karaage or Maguro-no-kama. We were 5 Japanese + 1 American and enjoyed the place. We also used our Japanese meetup. The staffs are very Japanese style (Cheerful and not bother our conversation unless we call them) and they made Yaki-onigiri which is not on their menu. I really recommend that they put the Yaki-Onigiri on their menu!!

I am getting tired to eat sandwich usually but I enjoyed their sandwich! The pork belly sandwich was so delicious because I love Butano-kakuni (simmered pork belly in Japanese) a lot and could not imagine that I could find here. The truffle fries are good too.

I went there twice in one day. When we visited at lunch time, their chirashi lunch and cakes (Matcha and Yuzu) were so wonderful!! It was better than typical neighborhood sushi restaurant in Tokyo, so, we went back to eat dinner again. We ordered some nigiri at dinner and I loved their botan ebi because they fried the ebi head and I could enjoy the head and body.
