Jared Gomez

Category: Hair Salons

5.0 star rating

I do not know where to begin so I will start with the truth. Jared Gomez does the best hair in SLC. In a city full of "try hard" stylists, Jared belongs in a realm of his own. Jared Gomez is a true talent and SLC is blessed to have him working in this city.

I have been going to Jared every month for over 3 years and I have ALWAYS left completely satisfied and happy with my hair. Jared's talent exceeds anyone in SLC. I trust him completely to work his magic; I have changed my hair style multiple times and each time he pulls it off flawlessly.

I continue to receive compliments for my hair and I am quick to give Jared complete credit. I have referred multiple friends and coworkers to him and they have all left satisfied and become return clients. His ability to retain clients and continue to grow his business is directly influenced by his talent; especially in a city overcrowded with stylists and salons.

It's true that Jared is talented with the scissors and dye, but he is also a charming gentleman. While in his care you will laugh, cry and he will keep you completely entertained.

If you love yourself and want to look your  best; please take my advice and book an appointment with Jared. I promise you won't be sorry. xoxo

Caffe Niche

Update - 8/4/2011 1 Check-in Here
So after about 11 months I returned to Caffe Niche to give them a second chance.

I will admit, I didn't hate it. Parking this time was not an issue, because the place was empty. I was surprised to see it so empty. I arrived at 6:30 and we were seated instantly. By the time we left the manager was removing the flowers from the tables. I wonder if it was just an off day, because I hear that Niche is pretty popular.

I personally think the prices are expensive for what they offer. I ordered the vegetable medley. It was very delicious, but I remained hungry. I paid $18 for 6 small, VERY small servings of fresh vegetable, while my date had the lamb which is just $5 more. His serving was much larger and I think $23 is a reasonable price, but the $18 for what I received is too much.  Besides being disappointed in serving size/price I thought the food was very delicious.

Service was ok and the owner was very friendly.

Over all, it was an ok experience, but I can think of 3 similar places I would go over Niche.  I am just not a fan, and that's ok.

I really, really wanted to fall in love with this place, but I can't say I loved it. (I didn't hate it either, it was just blah.) Beware; the parking situation is a complete MAD HOUSE.

The space is adorable and the menu has so much potential but they failed in one of the more important aspects I expect from a quality casual dining experience; quality service.

The service was awful, absolutely awful. God bless our server, he was totally adorable and super nice, but he just couldn't handle his tables. It seemed they were understaffed for a busy lunch hour. During lunch it is important to offer quick service so your customers can get in and out on their lunch hour. We spent most of our time waiting, not waiting on the food but waiting for the server to take our order, to present the check and it took over 15 minutes for him to return the check once we paid. Once our food arrived he only presented my salad and not my dining companion's meal or my soup. We waited another 15 minutes for the remaining order. Our order was allegedly "lost", which is confusing since my salad made it to the table. Over all,  Niche FAILS for service.

While the food (I ordered the beet and arugula salad and it was yummy, but the soup was boring) and coffee was good, the service ruined my experience and I am unsure I will ever go back. I understand that Niche is under new management and have heard from multiple sources that Niche has gone down hill since the transition.

I can't thank Sharla and her team enough for their help. This team made my first home purchase so easy. I was very nervous about taking this huge step into the world of homeownership. I was lucky to work with Sharla who made the process painless. I never doubted Sharla and knew that she had my best interest in mind throughout the entire lending experience.

Sharla's teams works like a well oiled machine.

I love Now & Again! Michael is super friendly and he consistently has something new to show me.

Prices and selection here are great. I recently purchased a lovely Danish teak dining table. It was a great deal and exactly what I was looking for. I was very appreciative that the owner (Michael) offered to deliver it to my house. He dropped off this large table on his day off and even helped me put it together. This kind of customer service scores clients for life!

This is a  hot spot if you are looking for antique pieces or just something fun to add to you home decor.

Elemente is always there for me when I move. Each time I switch homes I get crazy and buy all new furniture. (I recently purchased a home, so i wont be moving again for a bit.) Over the years I have purchased some amazing pieces at Elemente. Kate and Teresa are both great and always excited to help me find the perfect piece to add to my collection.

Elemente offers an amazing mix of furniture and accessories. I love that they do not specialize in just one decade, but offer a little of everything. The prices are very reasonable and this is what keeps me coming back. I always feel like I am getting a great deal.

The hours are kind of funky, so don't be surprised if you show up and it is closed. I recommend going in once a week, if you are crazy like me. or
once a month if you are "normal".

Shopping at Elemente is like being on a treasure hunt. Plus, don't forget to check out the basement!

Retro Rose

This adorable, eclectic shop is a must see.  The shop is slammed full of great vintage/antique nick knacks. The shop is adorable and offers everything from vintage clothing, glassware, furniture and paintings.

My favorite thing about Retro Rose is the fact that everything is organized by color. This makes shopping very easy if you are like me and decorate via specific colors for each room.

As I continue on my search for the perfect accessories for my new home, I stopped in to purchase some vintage bottles.  I was unable to locate what i was looking for, but the staff at the shop directed me in some other shops. I really appreciate their willingness to assist me in achieving my vision.

Even though I didn't purchase anything on my recent trip, I will be back. The staff was very friendly/helpful and the selection of goods is amazing! places like this add so much charm to downtown SLC!

This venue is pretty cool. I attended the City Weekly Music Award Finals event here. The place was huge, but I only witnessed a small portion. The layout was perfect for the event. The sound was great, and the stage set up was perfect so everyone could see, no matter where you stood.

The bartenders were friendly and delivered great Diet Coke. =)

I would be interested to see what it is like for a larger show, but my first impression was positive.

The one bad thing I noticed was lack of parking, especially on Jazz nights. Those damn jazz fans always ruin my life, but that is a whole other story.

Glens Key Lock & Safe Co

I'm a big fan.

I recently entered a new stage of life, homeownership. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. My first dilemma was getting duplicate keys made for my front door. I thought this would be a simple process, I WAS SO WRONG. I went to Lowes, Home Depot, Smiths and Walmart and none of these places could match my key. Apparently my front door has a mystery lock. Lowes suggested Glens.

I was ready to cry and put the house back on the market; I know it is a little dramatic, but it had been a rough day. The staff at Glens were very helpful. It took them about 10 minutes to determine the correct key, but in the end they solved my key dilemma.

Glens has a customer for life. The service was outstanding, and the rates were very competitive especially for such a mysterious lock/key. I will be using them for all future locksmith needs, and apparently I will have to since they are the only ones who can make duplicates of my keys.

Giant Coffee

.Giant Coffee is the newest venture from the creative genius who brought us Matt's Big Breakfast and Roosevelt. Similar to these other hot spots, Giant Coffee is ultra hip and doesn't disappoint.

While in town I met with a friend for an espresso, and instantly fell in love with the space. The coffee shop offers a modern and hip retreat from the cement jungle. I am a sucker for ultra modern loft-like spaces so instantly I loved the vibe Giant offered. While I was there they had the space opened up so we had the pleasure of enjoying fresh air while sipping the rich, dark coffee.

The coffee was delicious. I am happy to find a non corporate chain coffeehouse in AZ. The baristas were friendly hipsters, so I felt right at home. =)

There is a $5 minimum if you use a card for payment. But, use a credit card so you can check out the Square technology on their iPad.

This place is top notch and a welcomed addition to my future Phoenix visits.

Old Farm Pet Resort

When I left town for a few days I needed to find a place for MJ to stay. A few coworkers suggested Old Farm pet Resort.

I am very impressed by their facility. The outdoor space has lots of toys for the dogs to play on. In the summer they have kiddy pools for the dogs to play in. They have a large space for the dogs to play. The rates are very reasonable. The staff is very friendly. Most importantly, Mr Jacobs had the time of his life.

I appreciate the care the staff at Old Farm gave my dog.  They offer grooming, day care and boarding. The rates are very sensible and I will be going back for all my dog's needs.
