Pure Taqueria Inman Park

Category: Mexican

4 star rating

I have enjoyed the Pure Taqueria that is up in Alpharetta for quite some time when I go visit my dad.  When I saw they were opening up a Pure in Inman Park I was pretty excited!  This location is spot on to the location in Alpharetta and the food is delicious.

The vibe of the place is that of an old garage converted into a restaurant and it is pretty wide open spot.  The tacos are my favorite thing on the menu (the carne asada is some of the most delicious I have had).  When you order a side please get the refried beans, they are nice and spicy!!  For drinks you can have shots of numerous types of tequila, try out some margaritas, mojitos or throw back a couple beers ($1.25 Black Label).

The service was a bit slow on the drinks but this is a new place with new young employees (wasn't that bad and I think it will improve).

Check out PURE!

Excellent coffee and tea... a GREAT dog park with a good variety of owners and types of dogs.  Almost every owner has a well behaved dog and all the dogs tend to play nice.

The huge tree in the middle of the park provides some much needed shade on the hot summer days.  They also offer free wi-fi and plenty of seating inside, on the small patio, and in the dog park area.

Just the best: Great tucked away dogpark/coffee shop with friendly people and pups everyday!

My new favorite bar in EAV since they have a LOT of free shows at this venue as well as reasonably priced drinks ($3 16oz PBRs, $2.50 Yeunglings if I am remembering correctly).

It is a SMALL venue but the sound is decent.  The bar area can get very crowded but service doesn't take too long to get your drink order in.  If you want to see some good music you may not be aware of show up for one of the many nights of free shows!

Check out of the patio if you are suffer from claustrophobia... it gets a bit cramped!

This was my last stop of the night after drinking at a few other places in Chattanooga with some friends.  I didn't realize Chattanooga had such an amazing and divey late night bar.  Lamars is no frills, with strong drinks flocked wall paper and low cheesy lighting.  Also, the friend chicken was a pretty amazing take-out right after we closed down the bar.

I couldn't ask for a better place to end my night in Chattanooga.

Gravity Pub

We stopped by here instead of Graveyard this last Friday because Graveyard is getting a bit too crowded for my liking.  Gravity Pub is a lot more low-key and you can actually hear the people next to you talk without having to yell to loud.  The place is small, divey, rather clean and the bathrooms were cleaner than you would imagine them to be.

We had a nice table in the middle, some good tunes were blaring from the jukebox all night (my favorite being WEEN).  It is a nice place to go out with a decent group of friends if you want to sit, talk and not get too crazy.  Fast service was had all night and the people around us were friendly.  Some guy accidentally spilled a beer on us and he bought our friend a PBR as an "I'm sorry" gesture.  I hear Thursday nights here are pretty fun with Karaoke being belted out to songs by Seal in heavy metal fashion.  I will be checking that out this upcoming week...

FLIP Burger Boutique

Categories: Burgers, Food

3 star rating

I was pulling up to Flip and I thought it looked really welcoming, well, welcoming in the sense that I thought it looked like a Jackson Hewitt or a place where I could get my taxes done.  But no, it was actually a restaurant, which I actually knew because I was told so.  "Burger Boutique" was the subtitle of the restaurant, and I thought this was interesting, as I gathered that I might be able to get a haircut or a nice suit here or something.  Fortunately, or unfortunately, however you want to see it, you could only buy burgers and sandwiches here.  This was what I came here for, so I can't complain about the lack of fashionable doo-dads.  The sign was also weird, as I thought the place was called Trib Flip, but the "Trib" part was just flip flipped upwards.  My mistake.

So I got there and I ordered the Philly.  There were a lot of different choices but I went with something familiar, because I like cheese and onions.  Some people don't, but I do.  I've got no beef with onions.  But this burger had beef with onions, cause it was a burger. I can't fault it for that.  And it was pretty tasty.  The burger was very small, but it was actually very tasty.  It didn't actually have any cheese on it as I would expect a Philly to have, but it had a mayonnaise-esque sauce with a bit of extra spicy zest.  I can't complain, though I can't say my taste buds were exactly bursting with excitement.

The atmosphere of the place fit the bill of being a boutique.  I was bombarded what I figured was some sort of trendy house music.  It had a pulsing bass and I would have tapped my foot if I actually enjoyed that type of music.  But I don't.  But it fit the mood of being a "Burger Boutique."  If I was having my hair did I would have felt really comfortable and maybe someone would have offered me a Heineken or some sort of trendy beer and I would have felt like I was an alternative person.

But maybe I just felt out of place.  But the burger was pretty tasty.

Savage Pizza is my 2nd favorite pizza in Little 5. I prefer ordering the good 'ol pepperoni and sausage with extra cheese to get those arteries clogged (but it is sooo goood!)  It gets pretty crowded on the weekends so plan for a bit of a wait around the dinner hours.

Props to the staff as well, they are all real nice people.

Buddha Restaurant

It is late, late night Chinese food and fills a niche that is missing in Atlanta.  It is close and convenient to a lot of areas downtown and the interior is quite welcoming (nice booths and some great low-lighting).

The parking is a bit hard to find but there is plenty of it around the back.  I foresee future late night visits to Buddha Restaurant at around 3:30am when I am not visiting The Majestic.

Delicious and simple.  All the people working here seemed pretty nice and got the order out fast.  It's pizza and it was surprisingly good for beach pizza.  Beer is pretty cheap as well so you can hit back a few drinks and not hurt the wallet.  Check it out if you want some decent grub!

The Woods

Not the most ideal location (located next to a liquor store and cleaners) but The Woods is definitely worth a visit.  Happy hour from 8pm - 10pm (I arrived at 9pm...) and it was even a bit crowded around 9pm with some decent tunes playing in the background.  It is a dark and ominous log cabin with some pretty nice bartenders (heavy hands, heavy hands).

I felt at home at The Wood and was able to get a nice buzz and have some nice conversation.  I would check it out if small grimy bars are your thing.
