Parm

Category: Italian
Neighborhood: Nolita

Parm is my new standard for southern Italian. Yes, the portions are on the small side. Yes, it's a bit expensive given the portion size. It doesn't matter because it's just so darn amazing - dare i say, inspiring. After going for the first time, I found myself there the next two days also.

On to the food - It's the best darn Chicken Parm i've ever had. My Italian wife can't remember a better one either. The Baked Ziti is insanely delicious. The mozzarella sticks are delicious. The calamari was good, but I would quite say it's the best i've ever had. Parm has captured my heart, my imagination and my taste buds. I plan to return often and diligently work my way through their menu.

How could I have waited this long to visit this neighborhood establishment. The decor is kitsch, but of the high brow variety and beautifully done. The service was fun and the portions are huuuuuge.

The sangria was great. The house red was really good and available in a half carafe - yeay.

I started with the soup of the day, a white bean soup. It was the best i've had. It was followed up with a scallop appetizer was succulent and cooked to perfection. I finished off the feast with the 20oz Filet Mignon Tornedos, rare.  The meat was not of the most supreme quality but worth more than the $33 bucks you shell out for the dish. A great experience I look to repeat - next time it's the Paella.

I should have heeded the warning; alas, I was stubborn. I used to love Pei Wei. I have no idea how it became this shadow of it's former self. Maybe other locations are better, but this place was terrible. The rice was was not at all sticky making any attempt to eat it with chopsticks foolish and frustrating. The meat was over seasoned and just bad. Looks like i'll have to live with the memories of times past, because I won't be returning.

My review is on one glorious item, the italian cheesecake. I get my number and I tell them to make my slice a little bigger - you pay by weight. I walk back to the west side and feel far better about indulging in this delicious, guilty pleasure. I've not found a better slice in the city; and for that and it's classic charm, I give Veniero's the 5 stars.

The only other items i've tried is their lemon cookies. They weren't anything special. I prefer Rocco's for those.

Really love to visit this place when I'm in Long Island. Their Buffalo Chicken pie is the best I've had. I've also really enjoyed their Meatball and Grandma pies. They do not skimp on the toppings.

Beware, a slice of the Buffalo Chicken will do some damage to your appetite. Two slices will probably eradicate it.

This is my favorite pizza joint in the city. I haven't tasted their plain slices, which people seem to not like in the reviews; however, the white slice is something special. The delicious and healthy amount of mozzarella and ricotta sit atop a slightly doughy crust that has the perfect amount of crunch. I stop in whenever i'm in the neighborhood. Sometimes I even take a stroll from over on the West side.

Hands down the best gelato i've had outside of Italy. They make it themselves on the premises and you can taste the fresh fruit. Get a cup for $4; it fits 3 flavors and is more than you should eat in a sitting - not that that will stop you.

The cakes are gourmet pieces of decadence. Their triple mousse cake is insanely delicious. I'm glad they're not in the city or i'd be carrying a couple more pounds on my frame. Bring your greenbacks because they don't accept credit cards.

Say it ain't so. This used to be my go-to place in the neighborhood. There was many a time that Foursquare reminded me I had checked in here for the 3rd time that week ... on a Thursday. Those days are now gone. $18 for a tuna sandwich and a latte is too much. They recently upped their prices to where it no longer feels like my neighborhood hangout, the place I visit 8 times a week - yes, i've been there more than once in a day. Alas, i'm on the hunt for a new hangout that won't charge me more for a cup of coffee than Starbucks.

Good sandwiches. Nice portions. Super friendly staff. Awesome coffee. It's like diner meets cafe.

    If only they had wi-fi.

This place has tons of charm. The portions are big. The service was good and friendly. But, it's a greeeeeaaasy spoon. If you go for that type of thing, make sure not to miss this place. Me and my intestinal track will take a rain check.
