BBQ Chicken
Categories: Chicken Wings, Korean
Neighborhood: University District
This is BBQ chicken, however they also serve Korean dishes and soju. Their chicken is okay-good however their Korean food is another story. It's rather horrible. Very bland, half-ass food. It comes with no side dishes, and the soup realllllly lacks favor. Their chicken is good however it's very expensive for fried chicken and I don't think it's very "special". I have tried their Olive Chicken, good and crispy but it came an hour after I was done eating our first entry. Not worth the wait and 10 bucks!
I had some chicken wing yesterday - don't hate it but don't love it. It was dry and did not taste any better than the ones from Safeway.
The atmosphere in this restaurant is confusing. The lights are dimmed down, the music is loud and "hip" - very night club like. We had Soju here once, and I have to say I am not comfortable with looking at pictures of little kids and family while I am drinking with "low, low, low" in the background.

I have been here twice, maybe three times and each times I was semi disappointed. Their lemongrass beef was extra chunky and chewy = ewww. There wasn't much beef in it either. I have tried 3 of their soups (the one with duck, one with crab meat and their pho). All of which were just okay, not "awesome" but not bad either.
Probably will not come here again. Will stick with Tamarind Tree instead.
I usually HATE pork, but I love their braised pork over rice (I can usually get 2 bowls). It's so tender and perfectly seasoned and I adore the pickled vegetables that it comes with. Their pork pottage is really good too. It was my first time having pottage and def. won't be my last.
The service here is wonderful. They are very good with refilling your water, and the waiter that I encountered was so NICE!!! When I ordered the braised pork, he gave me this weird look and explained to me that it's basically big fat pieces of pork! He said that it's very fat and that he's afraid that I won't like it. I told him not to worry, I like my fat! He also recommended the pork pottage.
Great food, good prices, and friendly service -- what more can a girl ask for?

The food here is probably some of the best tasting Chinese food I have ever tasted. I have NOT order anything that I've not loved (and I have tried lots of stuff here). I visit this place at least once every week. Yes, that's how addictive their food is. I almost wish it wasn't so damn addictive. I swear, 1/3 of my paycheck goes to chiangs.
My favorite dishes are salt and pepper chicken, ma po tofu, string beans with pork, the steam wontons, and their shanghai style noodles.
Their ma po tofu and string beans are soooo food!!!! Yes, so good where you literally have to lick the plate afterwards.
The service here is on and off though - most of the times they forget to refill our water and it would take forever to get the check etc . . . . When I am eating extra hot ma po tofu, I NEED MY WATER!!!!
We ordered the seafood pancake, Soon Dubu, and sam gye tang - all of which were delicious. They give you lots of yummy side dishes and the people here are incredibly nice. While we were enjoying our meal, the lady came with some fried fish for us to try on the house!
Seafood pancake was super yummy (however, there's a load of squid which might be a good or bad thing depending on how much you like squid). The soondubu has that nice rich flavor that any good soondubu should have and it was loaded with seafood. The sam gye tang was also yummy (It's literally a whole chicken that stuffed with rice and cooked until it's tender). Really great dish if you're sick. However, I felt like the chicken could have been more tender.
Overall, this is a great korean restaurant.
We ordered beef bulgogi and gyoza and meatball tofu soup. Both dishes were below average. The bulgogi was not tender and tasted off. The soup was so weird. To me it tasted rather bland (perhaps I like my soondubu to be more on the seafood-y side). The broth taste like they open up a seasoning package (the ones that comes with ramen) and threw it in. Also, it might not bug other people but I do not like "filler" ingredients like carrots, broccoli etc . . . in my bulgogi and soup.
I you appreciate good korean soup, this place is not for you.
The people here are very nice, however, I won't be returning.

Pike Place Chowder

Words cannot describe how perfect their chowder is- oh wait, yah it can -awarding winning-. The clam chowder is perfect, the smoked salmon chowder is awesome too, and I love love their southern chicken corn chowder. Each bowls of chowder comes with a slice of bread (also very yummy).
It's not cheap, and probably not healthy either, but it taste so good!
Try it out, you won't regret it.

P F Changs China Bistro
Category: Chinese
Neighborhood: Downtown
Do not come here expecting real authentic Chinese food, because it's not happening. However, PF Chang's Chinese food is super good. I have tried their sweet and sour soup which I really like, their wonton soup (don't like as much), salads (love them all- my favorite is the ones that comes with jumbo gilled shrimp, fresh watermelon balls, and nuts), Singapore noodle (yummy! Comes with baby shrimp, chicken, rice noodles, stir fried with curry), and their Dahl (sp) chicken which was also yummy (tender and spicy).
It's very busy here, so it can be rather loud. But I don't really mind. The prices are high, around 10+ per dish but then you're in downtown Seattle.
As for the service: I have had GREAT service here.

I was sold so I entered. Ordered a generic chicken dish (basically breaded fried chicken chunks covered is brown gooey sauce). It was bleh. The meal also came with free soup, which tasted so nasty (I don't remember what is was called but it look like egg drop soup- the weird thing is I actually love egg drop soup, just not this one). By nasty I mean, it tasted rotten - like expired soup, or they used some expired ingredient. If that makes any sense! The chicken wasn't any better, tastes old.
Yes, it's cheap and you get a lot of food but the food is crap.
Basically my whole experience here was less than wonderful, and because I was so scared the first time, I have never returned, and I don't plan on to.

The lady that works here is so friendly and I love the shabby chic interior. It's so cozy and smells so good.
My favorite things to get here are the quiches. They are soooo yummy! Her quiches are really unique, with unusual (to me anyway) combination of fruits/vegetables/meat - that goes to perfectly together. The crust is butterlicious. My only "complaint" is that the quiches are usually only lukewarm/on the cold side (even after she heats them up). I like my stuff super hot!
Her little sweets are so yummy too, the huge snickerdoodle cookies are awesome!!
Good prices, awesome food, and great service!
