But wait! What is this? An honest to God arcade on a boardwalk in Redondo Beach? Yes. It smells like seaweed and old fish but it's the closest thing I've seen to a legit arcade in years. My son and I stopped by on an extremely windy Sunday afternoon and had a blast. $25 lasted us almost 2 hours.
A few highlights:
They have Pong! One of the first video game cabinets ever produced in all its wood paneled glory. It works too. 2-player is only $0.25!
Despite some old pictures on Yelp, they do NOT have any pinball machines. I was pretty bummed about this but pinball machines are expensive to maintain and repair.
The Tilt-A-Whirl is no joke. $2 on the weekends and $0.50 on rainy days.
They have a couple of Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat cabinets, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Ms. Pac-Man, Centipede, Space Invaders, Galaga and other classics.
The skee-ball games are $0.50 and worth it. I've never gotten so many 100 point rolls!
They even have old school carnival games like horseraces (with a live announcer) and puppet shows.
