For sundays - it can't be beat. 10 dollar pitchers and 5 dollar appetizers (which include buffalo wings, nachos with bbq sauce and baked beans, jalapeno peppers and fried pickles). It's a great place to meet friends to watch the game and eat and drink. Monday nights its 20 dollars all you can drink coors and all you can eat wings.
The nachos with bbq sauce/baked beans are AWESOME. Sweet and delicious. Wings are a-okay - nothing special - but hey - they are good enough.
And the place gets crowded, but it's never overwhelming to watch the game. Good sized outdoor section and super friendly waitresses and bartenders. I like it!

I've never had any of the entrees there.. I only go for two things: tapas and sangria.
And they deliver with both. The sangria is good and packs a nice punch. The tapas is absolutely excellent - I highly recommend the guava shrimp (basically delicious shrimp wrapped in bacon) as well as their shumai, croquettes (which were WAY better than I ever thought), miso scallops (served with chips and guacamole? hey whatever works for me) and the grilled eggplant. The tapas menu isn't overwhelming - but every item on the menu looks great.
Cute ambiance and it never appears to be too crowded - no reservations needed at 8pm on a saturday and 7:45 on a friday (but it was by no means empty.. there was definitely a fun crowd there). Friendly, attentive service. Will be there again!

Any place that gives you a drink + refill before even taking your food order is A+ in my book (or it means we are bordering on alcoholism... nahhh). The drinks were strong (I started with screw drivers) and the food choices were the most numerous I've seen among most all you can drink brunches.
I ended up hearing after missing my reservation (only by 40 minutes!!) to paradou - it was down the street and recommended by yelp.
The atmosphere was cute, the free bread was outrageous (and we ate two baskets full) and my pasta dish with meat sauce was great. But my friend got the french toast with fresh whip cream and that was out of this world - I will DEFINITELY get that next time (and this place was good enough for a next time)
And the service was super friendly to boot. I always like that. Because when I'm bleary eyed and rained on (as I was on sunday... heavy heavy rain) I just want good service.. and thats what I got.

so here's the skinny. average to good Sushi. Awesome paninis. Awesome burgers. Awesome sandwiches. And a kick ass salad bar (that usually has some type of seafood.. some type of meat... some type of salad.. and good side dishes). And its reasonable. If you live or work around the area.. this is a must have lunch place

And since my newest addiction in life is brunching in NYC.. they even offer a great brunch special (11.95 for food with a free drink.. add 10 dollars for 2+ hours of all you can drink mimosas, beer, champagne and screwdrivers).... my softball team went there after the game (around 12pm). We were the only people in there, but the staff was super friendly... one of the owners came over to introduce himself and welcome us to his bar.. how awesome is that.
Instead of refilling our drinks, they just gave us pitcher after pitcher of mimosas... and they even allowed us (included in our 10 dollar all you can drink upgrade) to play mimosa pong (because clearly it was too early for beer pong.. but mimosa pong is fine)... and when they saw us doing that.. they went and got us extra pitchers! Awesome
Fun, local bar that has an awesome scene at night - rivals any good post college/late 20's bar in the area
And i've had dinner there more than once.. and the food is great. And they constantly have food specials (Taco tuesdays I believe) and drink specials. And the drink specials are just as good as aces and eights.. (across the street)... but the atmosphere is a lot brighter/nicer.
yah to this bar

35 minutes later, I had a feast of sesame tofu and dumplings. The steamed dumplings were OK, but the sesame tofu was just outstanding. They allowed you to choose between white and brown rice for no extra fee (nice!) and the brown rice was plentiful and flavorful. I'll be back!

When you come here... use that mentality. Don't expect high quality chinese food and don't expect a nice and quiet ambiance. Probably not a good first date type of place...
But if you have a group of friends and want to have chinese food and drink cheaply, how can you go wrong? Standard "americanized" dishes such as Sesame Chicken and General Tsos chicken were good. The dumplings were good, but they were nothing like the spectacular dumplings you can get in chinatown (but really.. was I expecting anything more than good dumplings here? No.. so it was worth it)
It's not overpriced... they don't charge more for their food.. everything's standard (10 dollar or so dishes). They also give you free rice (saves a few more dollars).. and yes.. its boxed wine.... but you are paying 12 dollars for dinner and drinks... what else can you expect?
So yeah... take all of that in mind before you go. If this sounds like the type of fun night you've been craving.. then go! For those types of nights, its well worth it!
And it's cash only. So make sure to bring a 20 dollar bill if going with a group of friends!

I'm almost afraid to review this place.. for I don't want to give away the secret...
But I stumbled upon this place randomly on a saturday afternoon and saw the words: "12 dollars - all you can drink mimosas, bellinis and champagne".... so with their lunch/brunch specials ranging from 8-12 dollars, I did some elementary school math (thank you.. 1st to 4th grade math teachers) and realized that a brunch with 9 mimosas (or so, haha) with food would be 20 bucks + tip/tax. Oh and it had a nice and expansive outdoor seating.. how can I go wrong?
And you can't. I had the apple cinnamon french toast. Excellent! My friend got a goat cheese and spinach omelette that looked ridiculous (and verified by her)
But what looks really special is their pastas... which I will try (and hopefully review) next time.
Now their brunch menu isn't as diverse as other brunch menus.. its mainly pastas, omelettes, pancakes, french toast, salads and paninis. If you're bringing a large group that wants a diverse brunch (some want a traditional breakfast, some want burgers, some want chicken) this place will leave a few people disappointed
But if you are going with 1-2 friends who are settled on the fact they can have pasta, a sandwich, a limited amount of egg/breakfast food and can get loaded on a saturday afternoon for a low price... you'll have a great time
Oh.. and the service... awesome. Constant refills of your drink (and hence, reaching the 9 mimosa count rather easily)... they refill your drink when its half full (or half empty if you are a pessimist...) they refill your drink when you get your bill (they aren't rushing you out or trying to save a drink...)... they refill your drink when your bill is paid... they refill a drink for you when you are leaving... how can you not love this place?People thought this was:

No Lists

Ben hasn't made any lists yet.

You won't find any of the "fusion" rolls (aka, 12-15 dollar hand rolls with three different fishes covered in tempura flakes and spicy mayo), but instead traditional maki rolls and sashimi done right. And don't get me wrong - I don't mind fusion sushi when done right (Wasabi Lobby comes close to getting it right).... but most of the places that sprouted up in the UES offering "fusion" sushi are just plain awful.
I was pretty excited to come here after all the reviews - and this place did not disappoint.
I went for lunch and had the (very) affordable lunch special - 12 dollars for two rolls plus soup or salad. I say its very affordable because you can't find sushi of this quality for that price. It was SO FRESH. The spicy tuna roll wasn't covered in spicy mayo - it had a slight crunch (as opposed to overly crunchy) and the tuna was so fresh it felt like it melted in your mouth. Excellent eel and avocado rolls and the yellowtail with scallion is the best in the UES.
They have different types of shumai - no shrimp shumai on the menu. Instead, we split a plate of crab and salmon shumai (both were good - though we both preferred the fresh crab shumai - mmm!)
As my sushi buddy noticed, they are VERY attentive to service. They constantly refilled our green tea and water glasses - it was never more than half full!
What a lucky find! I live right near this place and see myself here often. It's small inside - so I'd recommend going for lunch or during non peak hours to guarantee a seat.
I want to try the omakase next time when there - I'll give a review of it soon!
