Had an italian wrap that was wrapped in Kale here that was really good. The only reason I wouldn't give it five stars is because it was very expensive. But quality food does generally cost more.

I am not a vegan so my opinion may not matter much. But just as a person who likes good food I have to say it was as good as I had hoped.

Wow this place is dangerous... for your wallet if you're a foodie.

Went today for some containers, some spices, a donut cutter, thermometer and wound up with a few extra items.

I don't know what the complaints about the service on yelp have been about, although i haven't been there in several months.  I interacted with three different staff members and all were helpful, pleasant, and totally professional. One even chatted with me about what I was making.

Seriously I asked three different ones where stuff was and they went out of their way to show me. Even taking me across the store to point out where the splatter guards are normally kept.

I found true Hungarian Paprika for my fried chicken recipe!! This place has it all!

    Pop Quiz:

    Its 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday
and u need cheesecloth, precut parchment paper, and a offset spatula to cook a gourmet meal to impress your new special someone. Where do you go? where do you go?

Bed Bath and Beyond? Sur La Table? No you go here to Surfas.
This place has everything for  the gourmet amateur and professional alike.  Seriously just about everything you can imagine. And the best thing is they seem to carry only high quality items with a reasonable price. Its not the poorly made useless gadgets or overpriced snob brands  that you find at the prior two places.

    Its a chefs paradise!

My favorite cooking store hands down. Okay think of a simple item that every restaurant has. Now tell me do you think they have a reasonably priced, simple, yet functional version of it at Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate and Barrel, Sur La Table, WIlliams Sonoma, etc,? No I didn't think so.
This is what Surfas is awesome for. All those kitchen cooking staples, think baking sheets, cooling racks, parchment paper precut to the baking sheets,  cake rounds, cake stands, etc. etc..
Its a cooking junkies nirvana!  Thank god they found new warehouse space, otherwise I was going to have to go massively into debt to buy a bunch of stuff if they closed down.

Also the parking lot is big and you will actually find a parking spot! Be careful that the items you picked up are tagged properly. I once overpaid for something because it had the wrong sticker on it.

Update - 4/25/2011
A couple of months ago I used these guys again for business cards for a friend. I love being able to make my own cards and then upload them for printing and then pick them up. They are super cheap have a pretty quick turn around and are convenient to pick up and save on shipping charges. Everytime I have called or interacted with someone there they have been professional and polite.

Used this place recently for my new color business cards. I would give them a five star rating but I had to follow up a couple of times to get my cards. They were ready a day after promised but nothing to freak about.

I like that you can upload materials online that you already designed via photoshop and googling how to do stuff.  Then they emailed me a proof. I didn't realize I was dealing with a local business only discovering that after I inquired into picking up the materials after finding out there would be sales tax.

The customer service gets you to a live person pretty quick who was responsive to my questions etc.

The paper selection is rather limited but still I found something that would work. They ended up being about half the price of the last place I used based upon the price per units. I got 1000 cards with the exact design I wanted rather than something someone else designed for like 500 cards for roughly the same price.

I will be getting envelopes and possibly letterhead printed from these guys in the near future.

These guys know their shades. I recently had vertical blinds put in. Not only did they come to measure they even came back to measure a second time after I had new floors put in just to be sure. I really appreciated the extra effort.

Everyone was courteous professional and polite from the receptionist, to the salesmen, to the installer. When the factory sent the wrong bar ( side open when I wanted a center open) they took care of it very quickly.

My family has used them before and we will continue to use this company exclusively for our window treatment needs.

This is a great place for crazy white people like me who throw their pooches birthday parties. It was Friday and I decided I was going to throw a last minute 21swt birthday for my wonder pup Roxanne. I called and even though they normally require 2 days advance notice they were happy to make me a cake last minute with no extra charge. Then they also had a great selection of treats and party supplies.

My dog and all the dogs at the party practically went ape sh&t for the cake once it was out. They also all loved the cupcakes.

I wish the one in Santa Monica was still open  as it was a little more convenient but I am happy there is at least still a three dog bakery in mid city to go to for this kind of thing.

These guys made my day by allowing me to throw a kick ass pooch party with their kick ass peanut butter bone cake.

Went here to get some party supplies for a Birthday party I threw for my pooch. I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent selection of party supplies. Seriously they had cups, plates, tablecloths etc in just about every color imaginable. They also had a good selection of birthday themed materials.

I didn't get any help on the floor and I must admit that no one was interested in helping me find somethings I was looking for. But I eventually found them and the cashier was nice enough to encourage me to bring any unused items back for a refund which I did actually do.

The parking situation is good with its own lot.  When I throw a super bowl party I will be coming back here.

Hands down my favorite wings in LA.!!!

Homer Simpson would give their wings three thumbs up!

I just found out about this place through the frank's red hots website. Had a ridiculous craving for wings yesterday and got inspired to check out their website.

So glad I found this place. I guess its a personal preference your style of wings. But this place is the only place in LA that has ever tasted like Buffalo Joe's in the Chicago area.

I will be bringing these to any and all holiday and super bowl parties I attend!

Honda of Santa Monica

Update - 11/19/2010
First of all, I have to say that the service staff is always friendly, professional, and courteous to the customers. The waiting room is clean and so is the courtesy shuttle.

But I have to say that after several experiences with this business I have to question their or Honda of America's honesty.

Most recently I brought my car in to undergo a factory recall repair. Well I had hoped that it would remedy a problem that I had been having with the car that frankly makes it fairly dangerous. The ignition key comes out with the transmission set to drive, neutral, reverse (basically in any position).

Well I was told that although they had installed the factory recall kit that defect was not the source of the problem. Well fine I understand that but its inherently dangerous condition and if anyone was ever hurt Honda and Honda of Santa Monica would certainly be named in a products liability suit.

Instead I was told that it would cost approximately $600 to fix the dangerous problem. When I complained and tried to see if Honda would pay for it all I was offered was 20% off which just means that this dealership doesn't get to get its huge margins it normally makes. My car is 7 years old so its just not worth throwing that kind of money into it.

Originally I was told that it was a mechanical problem that the ignition had worn down somehow. But after I took my complaint up with the Service manager as the service tech advised me to, then all of a sudden it was an electrical problem allegedly caused by an after market keyless kit that I had put in. Well the aftermarket keyless kit had to be put in because I was having such problems with the defective locks on the car. I had even had new cylinders put in and configured to my existing key at my own expense.

So when I am told two entirely contradictory things by service people  I tend to question their honesty. Either that or one of them doesn't know what the hech they are talking about. In either case, I don't want to give this place any more business.

I have informed them numerous times about the lock, also when the car was still under warranty and no one has ever thought about bringing it up with Honda or helping me out.

I will not be purchasing another Honda when I finally replace this one. Yes the powertrain  is excellent but the lock system are crap!

Well the salesman when I bought my civic was so rude I went elsewhere. The last thing he wanted to do was answer my questions. He just wanted to sell the civic with no effort.

I get my civic serviced here for more major things. I go to a jiffy lube for oil /oil filter changes and i change indoor cabin air filter and engine air filters myself since they are a total ripoff for that.

They try and rip you off big time on this. They quoted me $140 to change the indoor ac filters. Well guess what you're talking maybe 30 dollars retail for two honda filters and two minutes with no tools to change the filters. I mean maybe $50 would be a reasonable price because some mechanic takes a minute to do this.  Now you see why I do it myself. .

One plus is that they recently began offering free wifi from the waiting room and then a second one is that they began Express Service, and a third plus is that they now have service coupons on the web. So even though I couldn't find a mail one I still was able to get a %10 discount.
If not for these new changes this would be getting 1 star in my book.

In full disclosure this is a review of a purchase of a wall air conditioner unit that had to be replaced.

The only reason I am not giving it five stars was because they recommended an unpleasant appliance repair company.

So my AC was out and we had that killer September Heat Wave so it was time to get it fixed or get a new one. Had a bad experience with a repair company who couldn't give me any definite amount a repair would cost.  So i decided to just buy a new unit.

Lets see. I had to call to schedule the installation appointment the morning off which was a little bit of a hastle. But unlike the repair place their installer came in the time window agreed to. He was very helpful and polite answering my questions.

Also the price for the unit was great. I checked on the internet and it was as cheap as I could find online without shipping charges.

This review is of a recent service call on a wall unit AC not a visit to the store or location.

Well where should I start. Things started off well with someone calling us back pretty quickly on a Sunday when they were surely busy because of the hot weather. We scheduled a $50 appointment to have a technician come and diagnose my wall unit AC that had recently stopped working.

So it was supposed to be sometime from 10 am until 12 noon. Needless to say at noon I hadn't heard from anyone and had to call them.
My call was returned very promptly which I appreciated but I didn't appreciate being told that the technician was close by and would be here in the next hour. So I spent most of my morning and early afternoon waiting at home in a really hot condo for them.

I was told that the technician would be able to tell me how much it would cost to fix and that they might be able to sell me a fixed used one. Well the technician quickly told me that my unit appeared to be out of Freon and this meant that it must have a leak.

I was then told that they could take it back to the shop to look for the leak. But he couldn't tell me that they would be able to fix it or for how much. The tech called someone at the business and quoted me probably about $150 to $200. But there were no guarantees and it wasn't being put in writing. I know how that usually ends! No thanks.

While all the employees I dealt with were courteous in person I did not appreciate having my time wasted. This business definitely fell short of my expectations.

Perhaps service would be better or more relevant for people with central AC. Because the cost savings for repair may be totally different.
