My room needs some maintenance. It was ok, but you know, just that few too many spots of rust, and crumbly cement spots.
We made a few 1800 calls. I searched the sheet they gave us to see if these were chargeable, couldn't see anything, so we figured they would be free or minimal charge. Wrong! We got a bill for $18.55. We lodged a complaint, and called them. They said the manager would call but he didn't. It's a small amount but shows the crap level of service and attitude from management.
Other staff were helpful.

Traditional kind of fish and chip, hamburger etc in a cool old warehouse with a nice view of the trees and a little creek.
Dumplings look like they've been hand made here, the duck soup was v. fine and her lemon chicken salad was pretty good. Try the ginger ice cream on the chocolate cake. I had a Milk Stout from nearby Farmville, which was creamy and not didn't have the stout aftertaste - too good.
Farm raised frog legs, and the rugby world cup on TV, this place is unusual, and the food is mighty fine and very Fronch. I had coq au vin with mash potatoe and some legume - very nice.

Traditional meals done well with some flair in a beautiful historic building. Check out the slave hiding museum section upstairs while you wait for a table. It's a popular place.

Very well run place, managed by the same family for some time and reasonably priced for the area. It has the full Gettysburg address on a banner running around the middle of the hotel.
Today's specials were deep fried chicken with potatoe salad and collard greens. I had the beef marsala on rice with a veggie serve. Both these were pretty fine in my opinion. There's a couple of cool couches, and some interesting reading material on the struggle of America's underclass, plus other fine reading. We ended up spending a good while here.
Not a bad spot, typical diner food. The conversations around here are priceless, especially if you're a traveller looking for a serious Joisey accent.

Nicely done country feel to the place, but don't expect more than would fill a cat. Delicious sandwiches here. This is the smallest meal of the trip, and a nice way to let the stomach recover.
