This is a large store, mostly filled with clothes, marked with signs in Spanish and English.  The parking lot is small and the store seems to always be crowded, even during off hours.

Some reviewers have commented on price hikes, but that must be only for clothes because for the housewares I find the prices to be comparable to other locations, like Sunnyvale.

The isles can be narrow.  They have seasonal offerings, like Halloween costumes.

This place is magical.  Be sure you have time to really wander and there are a lot of nooks to discover.  The succulent selection is very nice.  The houseplants are practically non-existant.  I fell in love with a bulb that was $75.  Yikes!

There's a little tool shed / play house with a potted roof.  Interesting stone walls with planters embedded.  A koi pond.  An alcove where you could host a reception.  Very helpful staff.  Definitely stop by here.

Scrumptious, vegan-friendly restaurant nestled in downtown Cambria.  The service is hit-or-miss.  They have a beloved outdoor seating area; the wait usually isn't long if you're willing to sit inside.  When I'm in town for the weekend I'll often eat here two days in a row -- that's how good the food is.

They have a bunch of different deli offerings (like rice with fruit) and the Robin's special with tofu is really yummy.  Te falafel is unusual and good (a bit spicy, so you can't share it with kids)  The prices on the deli salads are steep.

I love this market.  They recently moved from the CalTrain station to Murphy Street.  The market is set up in a "T" shape.  This market has the best musicians of any I visit.

My favorites here include the spouted peanuts, the fresh tofu and soymilk, Esther's German Bakery, the apples and the people selling homegrown grains.  There a good number of vendors selling prepared foods such as falafel.

A great place to give.  I was looking for a location to donate a ton of clothes (I finally got rid of all my stuff from before I had kids; woo hoo!).  The person who recommended Catholic Charities said they give their clothes away to those in need instead of selling them (like Goodwill or Salvation Army).  I am not Christian but I felt that this organization matched my values.

Their hours of operation are pretty decent.  http://www.catholiccha...  The staff I met when donating was fabulous.  I gave away 140 articles of clothing and a bunch of toys and baby equipment.  I was really happy with the experience and will be dropping off another load of items soon.

The location is in an industrial part of north San Jose.  The donation drop-off is in the back of the building.

I still occasionally go here for waxing.  Over the years I've seen many different waxers and they have all been good (except one reeked of cigarette smoke).  They are usually good at squeezing me in even if I call day of.

Parking can be bad at peak times.

I discovered Ciana when I got a gift certificate for a facial here.  After entering, they seated me in a comfy chair, offered me water or tea, and cleansed my feet.  Then I got a thorough facial, in which the beautician was in my room working on me for one and a half hours!  Now I go back regularly for leg and bikini waxes.  This is the least painful waxing location I have ever found.  I can't recommend it enough.  I even got a Brazilian here as a wedding present for my husband!  It is only a few doors down from the hair salon (http://www.yelp.c...).

This is Ciana's hair salon, a few doors down from their fabulous spa (http://www.yelp.c...).  I went to this location on accident my first time, and was impressed by the fancy styles I saw here.  All of the chairs were full.

I still love this place, though I now try to get most of my produce from the farmers' market.  Sometimes the food quality here is poor, so you need to be willing to pick through the produce.  If there are two piles of something, one is organic and one is conventional.

They have baklava by the cash register that is good, but I prefer the baklava from Kabob House Halal down the street (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).

The name isn't creative but it says it all.  I almost cried with joy when I found this little produce market on the corner of Scott and Homestead.  They have a wonderful selection, a few other staple groceries, and great prices.  If you are in the neighborhood, you will be so glad you stopped by.

This place is really fabulous.  It got remodeled in July 2009 after changing ownership earlier in the year (so you can ignore all the reviews from before 2009 because the decor, staff, and menu were completely different).  I go out of my way to eat here frequently.

The falafel wrap is AMAZING!  They add pickles and tomatoes and a bit of hummus to give it just the right balance of flavors.  Their hummus is truly outstanding!  I also love the baklava here.  They have a buffet but I haven't tried it because I'm vegetarian and it isn't.

The falafel plate is a little too small for me to easily share with my kids.  And that's my reason for one star off: the portion size of some dishes.  The tabouli here is one of the best in the South Bay, but it's a rather small serving for the price; we always get two orders at a time.  The baklava is more expensive than and half the portion of Falafel Bite in Sunnyvale.  Bottom line: the food is excellent but it isn't as much of a bargain as falafel joints usually are.

The service is usually great (there is one guy who is there infrequently who doesn't seem familiar with the menu, but Georges, who is there often, is wonderful).  There are a few tables for eating outside.  People often smoke outside.

Oh, and I almost forgot, they make fresh bread in a tandoor style over.  It is to die for!

I was so ready to write this place a 5-star review.  As of two weeks ago, they are under new ownership by Hussein, who is really nice.  He told me the new menu will be out soon*, but in the mean time they have super delicious humus (it's heavy on the tahini), and they make fresh bread daily.  The decor is sparse, but the place looks clean.  My least favorite part is the guys smoking right outside the entrance.

Unfortunately, my falafel had a sharp piece of metal in it!  I'm not sure when we'll be back with delicioso Jimenez next door, but I do intend to give it another try.  I'm just a little creeped out right now.  :--(

    * Sorry Kathy, I did point out that "chicken thigh" is spelled "chicken Thai" so they could correct it.

I had the [will update today with actual name of dish; starts with an "S"] here and it was hands-down in the top ten things I've ever eaten.  Absolutely bursting with a rich symphony of flavors (as my brother would say).  I love the sprinkling of potatoes because they really absorb the juices.  My husband was nervous about the tabouli, which is a parsley salad, because it is listing on the menu with bulgar wheat as the first ingredient (and parsley should be the main ingredient) but it was authentic -- made mostly of parsley.

Ambiance is nice (but this is true of most of the places on University) and the service is friendly, though a tad under-attentive.

And I must say I found it a bit audacious to name a restaurant Baklava.  They said they only had one kind, and I am quite partial to the walnut baklava at Falafel Bite in Sunnyvale (baklava is normally made with pistachios).  But I tried it and found that their namesake is delicious!  I won't be able to go to Kan Zeman again for a long time, because this place is amazing!

PS: If you're getting take out, be sure to bring your own containers because they use styrofoam.

Outstanding service.  I've been to other locations; they offer free tire fixes and rotations, and we've bought many sets of tires from them.  I found the service at this particular location very helpful with lots of personal attention.  Highly recommended.
