this is a goth chola's wet dream.
I left this place feeling amazed, sad, impressed, disgruntled, uncomfortable, dumbfounded, educated, miserable, paranoid, and most of all, satisfied. I can now die a happy? goth.
I have visited many cemeteries in my day but none will ever give me the satisfaction of a good history lesson. BELIEVE IT OR NOT!
Before I even ventured here, I checked other yelper reviews and was surprised that so many of them gave this place underrated stars. I do admit, though, it's not for just anybody.
I CAME HERE KNOWING WHAT I WAS IN FOR. Even the friendly owner warned us.
What a morbid and intense collection they had here! WHOA! Half the time I wondered if this was even legal to own some of the stuff.
But anyway, I'll tell you all about the GOOD (or bad, depending on how you look at it) STUFF:
OLD COFFINS. maybe from the late 19th century.
EMBALMING UTENSILS from early 20th century.
A WALL DEDICATED TO THE MARKETING PLOYS OF THE OLD FUNERAL HOMES such as matchbooks and fans.
A TAXIDERMY ROOM filled with animals and "weird creatures"
A HALLWAY FILLED WITH PICTURES OF AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENTS FROM THE 1920's -60's. - very grotesque!
A ROOM DEDICATED TO SUICIDES - Rozz Wiliiams cabinet door he hung himself with. oh, and DONT DRINK THE KOOL-AID! AHAHA!
A ROOM FILLED WITH MURDEROUS/SUICIDAL CULTS - Heaven's Gate and The Manson Family included. crazy artifacts! crime scene and autopsy photos of the TATE MURDERS.
AUTOPSY PHOTOS OF THE BLACK DAHLIA NEVER BEFORE SEEN - not the photos from Hollywood Babylon II either! these are waaay more in detail.
CANNIBAL ROOM - yes, it includes Jeffrey Dahmer and Ed Gein.
and last but certainly not least, THE SERIAL KILLER ROOM. This is astounding. You can read REAL letters and see REAL art work from the likes of Richard Ramirez and John Wayne Gacy. There's an actual portrait that Gacy painted himself dressed up as a clown (his alter ego).
*********I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE INTENT OF THIS MUSEUM IS NOT TO SHOCK YOU FOR THE CHEAP SAKE OF ENTERTAINMENT, BUT TO EDUCATE YOU TO SOME DEGREE.********************* They certainly don't teach you this stuff in school. Death and mortality is still a very taboo and sensitive subject in our society.
I paid my $15 and i got my money's worth. The end.

Unfortunately, there was something standing in our way. A 300 White Devil man. He just wouldn't budge! He took up the whole damn sidewalk! So me and mah friends (luckily we didn't have our shanks with us) moved out of OUR way to accommodate his obesity ass.
WHEW! okay....now I'll move on.
LUNCH SPECIAL: $7.99 for ANY PITA SANDWICH includes fries, garlic fries or a salad, and a drink!! WHAT A DEAL/STEAL!
CHICKEN SHAWARMA PITA SANDWICH = very good! comes with pickes, garlic sauce and tomatoes.

Like any other Anaheim local, I felt as if I had to drink myself senseless before I even entered the gates of hell (Disneyland). So, me and a friend of mine paid about $60 for drinks. RIDIC!
The drinks were well made and very tasty buuuuuuut for $60?!? plus tip? i had no $$$$ left for a huge corndog at CA Adventure! :(
But seriously, here's a little tip: yer just better off drinking BEFORE you get to the hellmouth.

Sorry Hollywood Forever with all your movie stars n stuff!, but this place is 100x CREEPIER!
Yeah, yeah, I agree with Mariah that it's absolutely beautiful.....but I wouldn't describe it as peaceful. It's eerie even in the middle of the day!
The older crypts are dated as early as the 1920s. The grounds are bland and boring but all the good stuff is in the mausoleum. The architecture of the mausoleum is gorgeous with beautiful murals on the ceiling and on the walls! WOW!
I've already been here TWICE in ONE WEEK! The first time I came here with a pal of mine but we only had a 1/2 hour to see it all. That was just a little teaser for us. This cemetery requires like 3 HOURS of exploring.
I saw and heard some very unusual, head-scratching and cringe-worthing things. It also made me question my own mortality. Do I want to be buried and forgotten for all eternity? Or entombed in a basement where no one but morbid people (like myself) will discover me and read my name aloud?
I heard doors creek open when no one was there. The sound of the Foucault pendulum is eerie but stunning to see. I felt drafts. The lights in the basement where the older crypts are flicked and made unnerving buzzing sounds. There was poop in the middle of the basement hallway. I opened a wooden door next to a coffin elevator to find bleach and other "weird" things. This place is like a maze and you can easily get lost. Many hidden hallways, crypts, and staircases.
Quite entertaining for anyone who loves this kind of stuff.
I DO NOT recommend bringing a OUIJA BOARD though.

well, first off, lemmie just say that some hoe in a smart car copied my style by eating here on the SAME DAY at the SAME TIME!
cReEPy!!!!
ok, so, I had ONE carne asada taco because I'm trying to lose 3 pounds. It was pretty bomb. AND, it came with complimentary tortilla chips!!! The meat was tender, juicy and chopped up in huge chunks. I like different.
The place was super clean but it didnt have that strong pine-sol smell you smell at the usual mexican taquerias. All you cholas out there know what I'm talkin about.....
4 STARS!
oh, and its CASH ONLY!!!!!

"Should we stop and check out Hollywood Forever?"
SURE! We had nothing else to do for an hour.
The security guard was kind enough to let us stay and check the grounds because they were about to close for filming a movie, or something.
COOL!
As we drove around trying to find Johnny and Dee Dee Ramones graves, we noticed something spectacular about this beautiful cemetery.
"LOOK AT ALL THE JEWS BURIED HERE!" says my friend.
yeah, there were a lot of them here.
We never got to see Dee Dee Ramones grave, but we did see Johnny's! Absolutley gorgeous!
We also saw Hattie McDaniels (Mammy from Gone With The Wind) memorial. Fay Wray (from the original King Kong), Harry Cohn (founder of Columbia Pictures), Cecil B. DeMille (famous old timey director) were some of the graves we saw.
But thee number one grave (more like crypt though) is Rudolph Valentino (the great silent movie star). Maybe next time we'll see it, along with Darla Hood, Peter Lorre, Barbara La Marr, and Tyrone Power's graves!

I DID find labels here though (Lacoste, Penguin, Pendleton, etc) so that's a semi good thing.
oh, and I also found a Breeders cd album here for $1.00! I already have it though. :(

However, they did have a fairly good selection of sequin tops. But, unfortunatley, fate did not have me buy one.
This store is freakin HUGE! There's a large selection of vintage shoes, heels, wedges and sneakers. Good selection of dresses. The prices seemed a little higher than the Fullerton location though.
More than half of the store, I felt, was stocked more with men's clothing. The back part of the store is where the owners have "newer" stuff.
I didnt find shit here. I think I'll stick to the Fullerton store. It's closer, cheaper and I always find stuffs there.

I'm a fan of all the American Vintage stores, especially the ones in OC.
Coming to this location from vintage deprived orange county was like a breath of fresh moldy air. Huge selection of shoes! WOW! and some in my big foot size too!
The place was neat and organized by style and by era! another plus.
yeah, the prices are a little expensive....but what vintage store isnt?
it's about quality over quantity.
Date

A record store that is close to home and Anaheim bred! (RIP BIONIC RECORDS OF FULLERTON)
Unfortunately, I missed the grand opening...but no worries. I got up bright and early to check this place out today.
AND it exceeded all my expections! The store is done up well with kitchy shit and vintage record players displayed everywhere. VERY CUTE!
The owners Sean (of Thee Makeout Party - check them out if you haven't cuz they're awesome) and Brian (of the defunct Third Eye Records store) are SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE! LIKE REALLY! They could possibly win lots of $$$$ on Musical Jeopardy if they wanted to.
Any weird obscure rare bands/records/genres that you've heard or haven't heard THEY KNOW. But the cool thing is that they're NOT pretentious about it. super cool, super helpful, super awesome!
HOWEVER, my only complaint is that there is no section for jazz lovers. :( But no worries, the store is still hours new and Brian said he'll bring out some jazz records. expect mah ass there soon when they do! :)
ALSO, they have a huge selection of $1.00 to $5.00 records. DEALS!
ON A FINAL NOTE, not only is Burger Records an actual record store, but it's also its OWN LABEL!?!?!?!? Some 30+ bands (some local!) are on the Burger label. I highly suggest checking out the Burger bands in the store!
